Ys is fun, but I really hope Falcom starts putting more effort into boss arenas. At least 95% of the boss arenas across the series are just circles, rectangle or donuts. It would be nice if they threw in stuff like triangles or hexagons along with maybe multiple level boss fights

Also it seems like the voice patch is not perfect. Here's a bug he found while playing through the prologue:

My guess is it's something to do with UMD data capacity. They probably had to rely on soundfonts rather than pre-recorded audio like in the PC Trails and Ys games. A single UMD only stores about 1.8 gigs of data. FC and 3rd were both compressed to hell while SC had to be split into a two UMD game.

Dawn of Ys is unironically still the best in the entire series
Not just the soundtrack, but it refined the bump combat to perfection- don't just take my word for it, go emulate it and try it for yourself, you'll see what I mean
There's also a fandub from 2012 that intentionally sounds hammy and replicated 90s-style voice acting, which is great, but I guess that's geared more toward oldfags who grew up with the TG-16

Mask of the Sun less so, it's still pretty decent (better than Celceta and V I'd say) so if you're really hungry for more bumper cars sure, it even has a thing like Ys II where you can turn into a Roo and talk to every monster in the game as an easter egg
But the gameplay itself leaves a lot to be desired, and the music is obviously held back by the hardware
