Spawn is not the main problem in blood, it's almost the last thing they should hit.
Big Knuckle and Scarlet need their shit pushed in, Tove needs to only be able to attack when a neutral is played, and Alice needs a good hard gutting. Then reassess the meta. If spawn were able to carry games with Bapho you'd see control blood somewhere above meme tier. Hell, in masters I've been playing and seeing more and more Phantom Cat. It's far harder to deal with than spawn cause we can aggressively evo and have even more board control for free with silly card draw. Spawn feels worse to lose to, but has more weaknesses with the soft turns where it tutors, or is unlucky enough to naturally draw spawn. Those weaknesses just aren't apparent because of the fucking absurd early game provided by neutral and the big 3 above.

Goblin Leader isn't problematic because he always leaves a goblin behind, that only makes him a weaker Ascetic Knight. He's problematic because while you can ignore an Ascetic Knight until you have to answer him, Goblin Leader has to be dealt with on turn after or he's way above curve off a second spawn.

Basically the condition in question doesn't mean anything to his play in pracitce. You can either answer him on 2/3pp and he's not a problem, or he's game.

Goblin Leader only bringing out stuff the next turn would be a lot easier to deal with since most players already have some way to deal with just Goblin Leader himself on turn 3. The Goblin he leaves behind is actually a problem since you have to deal with too much stuff if it gets buffed. What's there to post? I don't sink a lot of time or more than 20 bucks on this game, so I play a lot of my own custom decks that don't have any Wonderland expansion cards in them. I'm also only B0 rank, so shitposters won't care what I have to say anyway.

I lurk from time to time to save funny comics, and to help out with friend duels for quests.

In terms of problems, it's recently released. I'm sure nerfs will come in like how lightning blast was nerfed. I really fucking hate Spawn of the Abyss though. I came in during the Bahamut expansion, so I don't know what the game was like in vanilla or DE. What are the major problems with the game as it stands now?

Standard and DE had the perfect meta. Elf had a slight edge but it was always honest, even before the nerfs. There is always sword to counter them. The only problem was the Elana haven. Even elves had problem dealing with them. It was the original cancer but thanks to everyone's help it was somewhat contained, although never nerfed.

The best deck in every format since RoB is the one that plays the most stats per mana. Daria, Mid Shadow, Neutral blood. I didn't play in vanilla, but DE was the most varied and balanced card game format I have ever besides mtg legacy. Every class had multiple viable decks except dragon that only had aggro. Combo and control dominated the tournament scene but saw very little ladder play. Haven had the most ladder play despite being a bunch of tier 2 decks just because everything else was too hard to play for the average nip.

It was a beautiful time and we were just holding onto the last shred of hope that cygames could replicate it at some point. I have lost my optimism now.

I don't get why stuff like Aegis or Dshift is allowed to exist. Sure they're too slow for the current meta but they guarantee that certain decks can never be played. They create a hard floor for how slow the game can be played. They're pretty much unanswerable except by speed. That's pretty shitty design.

Are there any non-dead card games that have a competitive angle that /svg/ can recommend? A game where player skill carries considerable weight as to the outcome?

Shadowverse is my first ever card game and one of the two selling points for me was the meaningfully competitive nature of it. But I joined in when the Bahamut expansion was released, so I feel like I missed most of the climate. Post-nerf RoB was a lot of fun, but I quit playing when ToTG came out and all I played against was 1-drop/2-drop/spooky skeleton man.

I tried playing ramp and it just sucks in general. The problem of ranked is that you want those nice high win streaks and with ramp that's kind of difficult. When the opponent curves perfectly on neutral you lose, if they drop spawn and you didn't ramp you lose, they drop aegis you lose. Even Elana which use to be a free win for dragon now became a pain in the ass because of Tenko. 3-4 buffs in one single turn is absolutely bullshit. If haven starts becoming more common I will start running csword with roland just to fuck those guys up.
