Alright I need y'all to explain how emulation works on the Wii U's Wii Mode. I got the Homebrew Channel on there easily and can play NES and SNES roms perfectly well, just like I did on Wii. I even got Wii games to work with USB Loader GX and played all the way through Xenoblade on it. But I want to inject a wad of Mario 64, does it work just the same as it did with Wii? I seem to recall that there's certain things that can't work on the vWii and I'm hoping it's not this. :(

Because you have no idea how freeShop works.
freeShop always downloads a cache with all the metadata of the game, basically everything you can see on the eShop.
The latest cache doesn't have that metadata about Kirby's Blowout Blast.
So, you will have to wait until the maintainer generates a new cache for freeShop to download. Until then, you should either use FunKeyCIA or FBI to install the game.
Or just don't install it and wait until the cache got generated so you can download it with freeShop.

All games seem to run perfectly well, but there are issues. Some games have save issues and there's no real time clock support since Nintendo didn't develop the emulator with those games in mind.

Nintendo doesn't use it because it's not up to their standards and only released like ten games for ambassadors.
