Is there a console command to revive a soldier? I don't know what happened, but the game glitched out and killed my ranger. A heavy lancer ran at my bladestorm ranger and hit her. Did 9 damage, she survived. Then bladestorm triggered, whacked the lancer and lit him on fire. He also survived, but at this point the game locked up, lancer T-posed. Then he teleported 3 squared away from where he should have been. Game locked up again for another 30 seconds. Then suddenly my ranger took more damage, identical to the damage the lancer dealt. But nothing actually caused it, nobody shot or attacked or anything. It was just

Chain shot isn't bad either, not every gunner needs to take demolition, but yeah, certainly consider it in your future endeavors.

A nice thing you can do with average to low aim gunners is make them ability gunnners, so stuff like flush, hail of bullets, demolition, etc. The idea compensating there lower aim for cooldown abilities that have guaranteed effects, and in the mean tim when the the abilities are down, they can suppress targets. Last I checked, it's bretty gud.
But if you have a high aim gunner, building them to just smack ayys with their GIANT cannon is a good route too, especially as their aim goes up and you get some scopes for them.

No, they share the roll in the base game.

If a unit has 20% to hit 10% to crit and their resulting d100 roll is 20 or less; they effectively have a 50% crit chance. If the hit chance was 10% and the crit 10%, if they roll a hit it is effectively 100% to crit.

This phenomenon tends to benefit the enemy more than the player, simply because humans don't like taking 10-20% shots. I prefer the way it works in LW2 where the rolls are totally separate but dodge acts like negative crit.

I'm playing LW 1.0 and I've got a big hole in my gameplay. I know the whole idea is to minimize the amount of groups you're dealing with at once by inching into the fog of war, but I never know how to deal with a straight forward firefight when it comes up. Yes. Imagine having a character that has an ability for literally every situation, to the point where you have difficulty even choosing which one to use for this turn.

Other classes have abilities that are useful in specific situations with specific setups. Psi-operatives are ALWAYS useful.
Domination is not only good for giving you an extra man during your fight, but you can also use it as basically an even better pre-nerf mimic beacon.
Stuck in a shitty situation with no way to kill off a tough pod in one turn? Just throw the andromedon you dominated out into the open.

Enemies grouped up? Void rift them, which casts insanity on most of them, which also ruptures them. You probably mind controlled 1 or 2 guys in the process.

Enemies lined up? Null Lance will fucking wreck them all.

Need to remove some cover but your grenadiers are out of nades? Fuze.

One of your dudes got mind controlled by an avatar? Solace.

Need to finish off that low health enemy in full cover? Soul fire.

1 turn left to get the objective, but no way to for the soldier to do it AND survive? Put him in stasis after he does it.

1 really tough enemy that you just don't have the means of killing in this turn? Just put that sectopod/gatekeeper/avatar into Stasis, deal with the rest of the enemies for this turn.

This is only partially true. The slider for Anarchy's Children only applies to recruited and acquired soldiers, not cosmetic changes upon unlocking new armor. Even with the slider set to 0 soldiers will still have the apparel equipped upon upgrading their armor.

You can go from EU to LW without problem, as most of the new mechanics of EW are changed in LW so you have to relearn them anyway.

However the mission in which meld was explained was cut from LW.
Meld is new resource represented by an orange triangle, that will be inportant during mid-game.
You get some after every mission but if you want to collect more you have to collect it manually from the 2-3 canisters (white rotating alien thing that's glowing orange) during the mission before they expire.

Every other new mechanic should be self-explanatory.

For my EW games I alternate a good 12-18 soldiers so that I have not one, but two alternates for any particular soldier who is wounded or otherwise unavailable.
Other than that, I mainly only grab a rookie or two if I'm low on certain classes and trying to gain the favor of the rng. If the rookie becomes something I already have plenty of, I usually keep them around in case I lose one of the experienced ones of their class.
I also always keep two mecs around, since I always take one on a mission if I can, and with only two of them alternating, they can both get plenty of action to compensate for the slower leveling of mec troopers.

I've played two commander ironman campaigns through to the end and still have no idea how I'm supposed to do it. I usually have like 10 or so high ranking soldiers. Not even a full second squad if I get a whole squad wounded.
I have 4 grenadiers, 2 sharpshooters, 2 specialists, and 2 rangers. Oh and a psi-op.

At first I try and slot in a lower ranking dude to spread out my team, but eventually I get to the point of the game where every mission is "very difficult" so it's like "okay I guess I'd better field all my highest rank dudes" and then the next mission is very difficult and so on until I realize I have 10 colonels and 3 squaddies who there is no point to even sending in

It literally isn't balanced though. The game is balanced around grenades being a tool to strip enemy defenses (cover and armour pips) so other troops can finish them off. I like LW2 but one of the first things I did was mod the grenades back to their vanilla stats.

What always bothered me about both LW and LW2 is that their method of "balancing" is just adding less guaranteed ways of doing damage.

I feel like it adds a lot of options to the games and a variety of other things that are great but boy fucking howdy are they fucking terrible at balance.

Just started a LW2 campaign, so I'm kind of emphasizing with the lack of actually explosive grenades. To the aliens, what's the point in the Avenger? Why'd they make it? It seems like a piece of shit compared to what they have. Is it armed? All I can see it being useful for is a airborne aircraft carrier but what would it even launch.
