Alright, I can at least somewhat see a justification of why an energy weapon would have a maximum range. Beam cohesion, the projectile spreading, something like that. It's a little odd maybe, but it at least can make sense.
But why the FUCK do actual kinetic projectiles have a maximum range? There's no resistance in space, or the resistance is so small as to be negligible. Sure, your shot might have some inaccuracy at long range due to spread, but the bullet wouldn't just magically fucking stop.

they already had these damage options to begin with, take the ion pulser for example. vanilla weapon with a ton of burst damage and EMP, great against both shields and armor.

wouldn't make much of a difference, the medium slot vanilla energy weapon roster is filled with great weapons.
the only downside to the vanilla energy weapon roster is flux efficiency, and even then weapons like the ion pulser don't even have that weakness. you fit an aurora with SO / unstable injectors / expanded mags and ion pulsers, and you have a rape machine screaming across the battlefield, all with vanilla components. furthermore, if mods add things that you don't want to play with, just don't use them.

I read the ship file, but it does not contain the "receives no blast damage" trait. Meaning that if one module explodes, it will deal damage to other modules. However, even if destroyed, the side modules will be restored after repairs.

Thanks for the feedback. It is named the "Wall", but I will keep that in mind. Perhaps giving it aux thrusters or no heavy armor at all. The ship data had compromised armor as a built in modification, so I thought Id change that. If you go to SWP>data>hulls>wall, you can remove the mod yourself

There actually pretty okay to run.
The Wall is the most expensive at 28 supply/month but it is essentially 3 ships worth of in one.
The smaller sentry and the warden can get away with degraded engines. The warden is also okay to run with compromised armour.
They aren't very expensive(expect the wall) to restore so I prefer to keep them in top condition. You can get a away with D mods but fact that you need to give them all a shield generator makes it a lot riskier due to the crappy shield stats and lost OP.

Personally find Corvus mode more enjoyable.
Random systems can end up with MASSIVE dead space between inhabited systems.
Like, clusters of 2-3 occupied systems seperated by space that you need 1 or more tankers for. Just not fun to play on. Maybe if/when station building/planet colonisation gets added it will be good, but not now.

Turn off the transponder in hyperspace and literally nobody will catch you unless you sustained burn straight into someone. Fit your starting ship with as many harpoons or equivalents as you can and go snipe a frigate bounty target then retreat, you still get the money. There you go now the fucked start is fixed. Some factions' ships are normally restricted to commission holders in their military markets. Independent military markets will still sell them to you with no commission requirement though, and you can salvage them from high level deserter bounties as well.
There's like a 1/3 chance for the game to spawn a pirate fleet on you every time you leave a system with goods meant for a trade mission. Be ready to hit Emergency Burn if you have to.

Thanks, found the problem: it tries to do stuff with the alliance after it's dissolved (from one of the members defying the vote, which shouldn't actually be happening in this case).
For now you can work around it by using console to make Tri-Tachyon and Diable like each other more, so they don't break up.

That's what I usually do for early game. Buy the first dram you see and load up with fuel.
Then hit up two systems with a lot of planets, accept all scan missions. You should be able to put a route together that hits 4-6 of them before you get too low on fuel to continue, and maybe have enough time left after to do a couple more.

derelicts have no shields so EMP + HE destroy them. Their large ships are really slow so you can pick off the little ones before moving going after them. I've killed groups of ten ships or more by myself using an Omen thanks to its emp and mobility.

I'm playing with it for the first time. Haven't gotten far enough to mess with cruisers or capitals yet but it seems like a solid mod. Fought a lot of battles alongside larger NGO fleets and didn't notice any of their big ships stand out as outrageously OP or UP. Ignore all the "b-b-but the modder is a NAZI" tards and at least give it a shot.
Guys. I lose all will to play when I'm finally decked out with big fleet and a mountain of credits. Are there any mods that are adding some late game content that is fun. For me open-ended games are about getting all the best stuff. But in starsector I can get all the best stuff relatively quickly.

The small annihilator is good because it covers a wide area so you can saturate a zone with missiles.
There isn't really a medium missile that lets you do that.

I had two triple large laser siege cruisers and two frag Doms. I actually ran my CR to zero on one of my doms, swapped it out, and ran the other down as well before the enemy ran out of fighters.
This thing is the culprit. I've taken one down before so it is doable but that time I had an ally join in, and this time I had tons and tons of those light frigates since the strike force brought in all of them as allies.
The problem is that you can't really bounce back from this, the only way is having extra fleets in storage.
It's just that I knew the battle wasn't going well, and I wanted to just pull back, maybe sacrifice some ships to get the wounded away.

I've found them to be pretty balanced though i've not used the largest one much. Depending on the fits involved the scenario you described can happen with any ships pretty much.
