F-104 Starfighter. It crashes. A lot. Even if it's not really the plane's fault.
F-22. High stats, stupidly expensive.
F-14. Some sort of Top Gun reference is a must.

I'll see what I can do with these. quotes and other flavor text suggestions are also greatly appreciated.
First for F-2A a cute
>>181676702
It is! It looks like a smaller F-16 but beautifully blue!
>>181677409
But it's bigger than an F-16.
>>181677409
F-2A has like 50% more wing area than the F-16. It's quite a bit larger.
>>181675973
Any chance of a MiG-21 of some more capable stripe?

The lines on this plane are gorgeous.

Would you guys be interested in a little AC story I'm writing? This isn't fapfic, it's a serious story. I'm attempting to flesh out and get on paper the sort of relationship between Cipher and Pixy.

>>181681617
BFZ/Oath are still in standard for at least 3 more months though.
>>181681972
Wait, what? Didn't they rotate when Amonkhet started? I thought it was last 3 blocks.
>>181682212
standard rotates on the release of the third set released each year and when it rotates the two oldest blocks are rotated out. kaladesh was the start of the current rotation, eliminating khans and origins blocks. when the next set, the one after hour of devestation, releases then BFZ and SOI blocks will rotate out.
>>181681735
Alright, I'll post some of it when it's done.
>>181683002
It better not be like shitty "Ace combat highschool" or anything cringey. I mean, if it is you're welcome to post it. Just fair warning I'll mock you if it's bad.

>>181683512
That's an interesting idea. Never really gave their (our) relationship much thought, but it has to be an interesting one. There's many ways one could go with it.
I think a deep respect and understanding of one another's skill exists between them. No rivalry though. They probably hung out together sometimes, but definitely weren't Top Gun-esque buttbuddies. however they also wouldn't hang out too much because they're both strong personalities. I can see them both being lonewolves somewhat too.
Basically, they were buddies!Maybe they still are...

>>181714258
You can't measure somethings speed if you don't know where it is.
>>181715402
You got a point there.
>>181715402
Are you saying the pilot doesn't know how fast they are going?
>>181715730
Not even the pilot can see the ASI during stealthdimensional travel.
>>181715730
The Nighthawk is so stealthy even its on instruments can't tell you what it's doing.
>>181715810
Well duh. There's no air speed to indicate in stealthdimension.
The only units that can be quantified by modern instruments while in stealthdimensional travel, are stealths.
>>181715991
And how do you convert stealths to other measures? What does a stealth equal to?
>>181716165
A stealth is a 0.00 to 1.00 measurement that determines how deep into the stealthdimensions an aircraft is capable of penetrating.
It's eminently important when two aircraft engage in plane to plane combat in the stealthdimension.
>>181716165
Much like you can't (accurately) convert tetradimensional distances to tridimensional ones by projection due to rotation shehanigans, not even getting into higher order n-dimensional distances, you can't convert stealthdimensional units to tridimensional ones. And speed is the differencial of distance, thus making it unobtainable.

I will 100% be wearing these during my playthrough(s) of AC7 and using them as LARP patches during flight sims with friends. Really high quality and I recommend them.
Is there a political map of Strangereal that I can use as a reference somewhere? I'm constantly getting the names of the countries and continents mixed up and while the AC2 remake is my first experience, which is a continental war, I'd still like to know for the sake of clarity for when I get round to playing the next one.
For that matter, would it be better playing Electrosphere before 4? I hear the former is one of the best assuming it's the Japanese version.

That is a meme. But it's pretty good if you like cyberpunk and it has a few multiple routes. Means that there is a lot of not so memorable and really short midsions at times though. Fits so so with the rest of the games stories and settings though. Bit of an outlier.
Personally if you want the modern experience 4 would be the way to go. Or any of the trilogy, X or 6 really.

>>181743186

>>181743470
I'll keep that in mind. The fact that it was so distant from the others made me a little hesitant but I'll jump to 4 since that's in line with what I've played. Assault Legacy was a nice game although a bit repetitive with spamming the Y button frequently.
Fapfic anon here.
As requested, AC6 fic.https://pastebin.com/Cs1YKcWWFair warning, this one is pretty much all smut, and not the nice kind.
I think this is going to be my last fic for the time being. It has become apparent that while some people do enjoy my writing, a vast majority of /aceg/ either dislikes it or is disinterested in it. Those who do enjoy it can privately email me any further requests they might have, and if I decide to take them up I'll email the story back. No need to get the whole general involved.
Maybe when AC7 drops I'll return to writing, but for now I'll refrain from inflicting any more lewds on /aceg/.

It would actually be pretty expensive. The games are so old that you couldn't simply just port them over like you would for a cross-platform game. Even if they used the physics and game engine from AC6 they would have to remodel all the planes and all the terrain in an entirely new engine. They would honestly be making three new games.
Not to mention the legal hoops they'd have to go through to clear the voice acting and any other third party they used for music or coding. Everyone involved in developing the games had to be paid, and some key development staff might have to sign a consent form to allow their work to be used in a new game.

My personal take on the mobius squadron was that it consisted of very elite pilots who were capable of performing missions similar to those undertaken by Mobius 1, just not as successfully, or not as prominently. It just didn't make sense to have a squadron consisting of one pilot to me.
>Bacmo is saying help Erusea
Well that pretty much confirmed Osea is the hero again.
Patches finally came to the mailbox
>>181794087
mobius one was a solo pilot, presumably a prodigy rookie or new recruit to ISAF that was called on for an emergency sortie (the first mission in the game) due to the limited resources available at the time. beings that it was an emergency and all that he was assigned his callsign by sky eye mid-sortie. from what I gathered while replaying the game this week no other pilots were ever assigned to mobius squadron until megalith and all the pilots in that large squadron were other ace ISAF pilots that have been in all the missions mobius one was, for example halo two and omega 11.
on a side note, all erusian squadrons were colors. the aces named after astronomers the only appear on NG+ normal difficulty or higher all seem to play soundclips when engaged/destroyed of white one.

>>181819409
Personally, I've always felt that if one were to try and stealth up an F-4 while preserving the look, an inverted pelikan tail would be the way to go.
The F-4 is actually pretty stealthy for an aircraft of its era. Observe how the empennage accidentally avoids the double bounce. The Phantom is usually stated as having an RCS of ~6m^2. Compare that with ~5m^2 for the much smaller F-16A, or the ~25m^2 of the F-15.
>>181819904
in a world where you can have 60 missiles on a fucking draken i think its safe to let the KC-10 and E-767 at least be a bit more maneuverable
>>181820127
>inverted pelikan tail
That's actually a pretty cool configuration. By modern I mostly meant in regards to it's looks rather than just stealthing it.
Not to say there's anything wrong with it's classy design.
Most modern fighters look like F-22s or F-35s put through various scalings and aspect ratios to me, so having modern-looking versions of older aircraft is really neat.

some people think it has something to do with the containment board's shit with CNN although it was likely produced by the same nut jobs that are apart of that shit
three theories are:
CP got posted, which is confirmed to have happened on /v/ by another anon on the /b/ refugee thread. with the mods panicking and slamming the shut down button
hiro's performing a death sentence to other boards or
Windows 10 probably crashed again knowing how incredibly well the site's been running in the past month compared to the past years which is likely as i think someone over IRC mentioned it to be a back end problem

Yeah, the effect would've probably been much greater, and there's no reason for the last two or so lines that the reporter says. They don't really add anything, except the line about the people having smiles on their faces as they talk about Cipher, but that's a detail that we could do without, and that I don't believe in anyway, because a lot of the enemy aces actually seem rather sad in their testimonials.

>Vector Thrust
More like "I sexually identify as a bad, unfinished game."Or so I've heard.
>>181848659
>because a lot of the enemy aces actually seem rather sad in their testimonials
if you do watch closely you do see that all of the interviewees at least subtlety smile even if for a split second at the end
i personally enjoyed the last line as it served as a reminder that Cipher was the key piece to the Belkan War, and that it was his actions that caused most if not all wars after it within Strangereal, but despite that he's still remembered by all of the aces he fought as this incredible pilot that they felt almost honoured to fight against
>>181849505
Project Wingman is already three trillion times better than Vector Thrust
>>181847139
All that and more will be explained in 1-2 hours.
>>181849749
>if you do watch closely you do see that all of the interviewees at least subtlety smile even if for a split second at the end
Really. I have to see that the next time I play. I can definitely see them direct these interviews like that just for the line at the end to make sense.
I distinctly remember the guy in Directus being lost in thought and also sad when he remembers the day it was reclaimed by the Allies. I remember him looking to the side, perhaps out of the window. Maybe he did smile at the end.
The crazy guy in the prison was definitely smiling, but only because he's insane!
And the farmer, well, he's at peace and fulfilled, probably thankful too. He definitely smiled too.
The flamenco dancer maybe as well?
I'll have to check them all!
I still think the last lines aren't necessary, because we know first-hand how important and great Cipher is!
>>181850960
>I still think the last lines aren't necessary, because we know first-hand how important and great Cipher is!
We do, but it's always nice to know even his enemies still appreciate him despite having lost. So many people can come back from war bitter and jaded but everyone Thompson interviewed seemed to have been able to go on living in no small part thanks to Cipher, who's life was the battlefield - heavy as it is, he was able to make it a fulfilling and prosperous existence. When people like that exist, you come to realize that you could be doing something so much more worthwhile with your own life.
>>181850960
Altman has the lightest of smiles at the end of his, as does Vasquez even if they're somewhat sad, its quite obvious Bristow enjoyed his battle with Cipher and realized that his methods weren't correct thanks to him while Kellerman obviously held grief over losing all his trainees but found peace knowing that Cipher bested him
wanted to make a note about how good Cipher is actually, sort of as a rambling thing but a bit related
in most AC games we see at the beginning or end the usage of birds or doves alongside the player characters aircraft, sort of symbolizing them as the masters of the sky and being as capable at fly as birds being Aces
at the end of Zero though, you can see when Cipher lands in the final cutscene that bird feathers fly by his aircraft, as if he just hit or killed a bird and feathers are coming off it, which could symbolize him as being the "Ace Killer" rather than the "Ace" that the birds symbolize
>>181852046
Oh sure. But I think that it would've been enough to just have the smiles in there and let only the observant know how the enemy aces feel about Cipher, by not having those lines. The unobservant like me wouldn't realise it, but I think it'd be better for the flow of the ending and such a miniscule yet very meaningful detail doesn't need to or shouldn't be spoonfed to people, I think!
I think the interviews say enough on their own. Even if one doesn't notice the smiles (at least those that are very brief and slight) the feelings that they convey are definitely clear. Some are troubled by the memory, but otherwise content that peace was restored. Others are very content and at peace and look back with happiness.
But the insane man in the prison... does he get any closure? I remember him planning a conspiracy or terrorist attack or something along those lines.
>>181853471
>But the insane man in the prison... does he get any closure?
only two of them died during Operation Thunderbolt, but post-war the remnants of the squadron grouped together back in Oured, Osea to kill the at the time President only for it to leak
two of them were killed by Spec Ops likely mid attempt and the rest of them turned on each other in court leading to all of their arrests and imprisonments
he says the jail helped him realize his course of action was incorrect and that the world would change on its own rather than through guerrilla force, so i guess he did get some closure
>>181855174
Oh, you're right, I forgot. I thought for a moment he has completely gone insane, but I do remember him having a moment of reflection at the end.
>yfw after AC7 we get a new golden trilogy
>>181855525
he's very clearly mentally deranged at least in some way as unlike the others who have moved and recognized the flaws in their plan, he still believes a borderless world should be created
he was so obsessed with recreating AWWNB he didnt even bother taking the lead when it came to their assassination plan, working to rebuild it while Iosif Beletsky/Sorcerer Four became the mastermind of the plan
>>181853471
>But the insane man in the prison... does he get any closure? I remember him planning a conspiracy or terrorist attack or something along those lines
He'd headed a terrorist organization years after the Belkan War but eventually was captured and imprisoned. From his interview, he seems to prefer life in prison and has resigned to the idea of changing the world by himself, realizing that the only people who can change the world are the masses who look to expand their own horizons and desire change. He even admits that the world has changed significantly since then, becoming a world of relative peace where even the world powers mind themselves,
whereas back then everyone was at one another's throat.
But then AC7 seems to change this.
>>181855941
the question is, will AC6 be part of the trilogy? i know it had retarded story but it has the best gameplay and dogfights after all
>>181855941
Are you thinking re-releases of the 3, or 7 is amazing, and we get 2 more new amazing ones after?
>>181856141
It would all have to be confined to the current generation of consoles to be a proper trilogy
>>181856264
Latter, probably.
>>181856264
The second one.
>>181856054
he didnt head it, Anton Kupchenko/Gault One headed it which was their way of gaining the V2 re-entry vehicle as he was the head of Project Pendragon, the project that conceived it, as well as the XB-0 Hresvelgr and the ADFX-02 Morgan as they were both likely born out of Project Pendragon too
it is implied several times throughout the game though that both him and Anthony Palmer of Sorcerer Squadron which were both under the 32nd Tactical Fighter Squadron that likely gave them a close friendship were the co-founders and lieutenants of the organization
With the presence of a space elevator in AC7, would that suggest that we might see another high-altitude battle similar to the one in either the AC2 remake or Electrosphere? Given the timeline is not far off 3 it wouldn't be impossible.
>>181856616
You're thinking of AWWNB. The interview says he resurfaced years after the Belkan War as part of another terrorist organization.
>>181856860

that is actually an Ace Combat squadron, it was in Cross Rumble
they're the final squadron in the game and are probably the best squadron in the game as their gig is that they play like chess, with the 3 SU-47's acting as bait aircraft while the leader's T-50 focuses on attacking whatever aircraft follows the 47s
theyre comfy as fuck too, the flight lead, Edgar, rather than being an asshole like the rest of the games squad shows a lot of respect for Phoenix and even seconds before his aircraft explodes he thanks him for giving him the dog fight of his life before he dies and in his intro rather than acting cocksure and full of himself, him and his men are simply playing a game of chess to entertain themselves while they intercept Phoenix before they encounter him

Why would you ever think that when VT has been on steam, for sale, for the past three years without a single peep?
Big companies like Boeing or Lockheed are too busy to focus on some aussie and his indie fighter plane videogame. Unless he does something like plaster their logos and trademarks all over the game, they aren't going to give a shit.

>We are currently in the process of optimizing the PS4 version and we are going to tackle the Pro and PC versions after we get the PS4 running at a state where we feel comfortable. Spec wise, for the PC, we have collected some data via Steam on what sort of benchmark people expect for it to be considered a good game, so we definitely know where we want to target on the PC. We just haven’t gotten around to doing that yet.
So, expect heavy delay for the PC version, then?

>>181938482
That doesn't work in X. Either the AI rubberbands to your speed, or the piddly engines on the F-4 can't keep up. You can't create enough distance to reliably do it. I mean, it works on the Gripens and somewhat on the F-18s, but when it's f-16XLs and F-23s, it falls apart.
>>181938834
Anything that has a t/w better than .9 will be able to out accelerate an F-4, though few planes can keep up with it at top speed.
My guess would be keep your speed up, and whenever possible bounce them from above. If you miss, keep going and start a shallow climb to regain altitude. Don't get sucked into a turning fight.
>>181939435

>>181952769
>you know Blaze flies an F-14D which is 2 seater
Well... I know that's probably the idea, since the F-14D is the flagship plane, but that doesn't mean it's necessarily the one Blaze uses.
It's not like the game forces you to ever use it anyway...
Also, if the assumption is that all main characters fly F-14Ds, then it makes almost every interaction incredibly weird too, since it's basically 8 people, but only 4 of them communicate. It also makesChopper's deathweird too, but I guess you can just handwave it away and say his mate ejected on his insistence, beforeChopper eventually crashed.
>>181953673
its confirmed that the F-14 was used by Wardog and Razgriz no matter what circumstances, including Blaze, canonically at least
the only time they ever reference to an RIO is in the mission you get shot down by Swordsman with Pix claiming youre all KIA and not even thats confirmed to be his RIO
they likely never had the RIO be important characters as theyd have to specifically programme them to only speak when in 2 seater aircraft which would be a waste of resources if they can just only show them and forget they exist with only the observant and knowing confused about their lack of a speaking role
Next thread all set.
>>181953673
I think you're taking these things too seriously. Ace Combat emphasizes and romanticizes the pilots. They're the ones doing the work that typically matters to both themselves and the RIO, so they have the faces. A RIO may seem to appear in the cockpits but it's better not to think of them as anything except when cutscenes or story elements actually put someone or something in the backseat.
