A dmix, short for double mix, is when you gather 12 people to play 6's, it's friendly matches against each other, can be serious and/or unserious, although it's usually more fun when people aren't fucking about, they usually go about that once there are 6 players on both teams, one player says last to spec and everyone rushes to join spectator, last 2 people to join spectator have to play medic, they battle it out by fighting to death with their melee's, picking up packs, übering, using your primary disqualifies you, the winner get's to pick a player first. The most common way to pick is to have players pick, captain's pick exists too but it's pretty boring since it ends in one team being stacked more often than not. In players pick the person get's to pick a player when it's their turn, team takes turns picking. Classes are picked once everyone has been picked.

It really just stems from the same thing that causes people to main a class. They main a class, they want to show off as that class so they start using the same cosmetics so that people will know it was them who trounced them.

This seems to be exacerbated by tf2bers who do the same thing, only very visibly. If you're an Uncle Dane mark, maybe you'll try to wear gear like his. Maybe you think "every tf2ber but me is dumb" and build your own cosmetic set. Maybe having no cosmetics is your special snowflake idea, maybe you want to wear a gibus, specs, and merc badge, and just maybe you want to shout from the highest mountain that cosmetics ruined this game.

This has kind of been alleviated by the existence of 3 additional loadout slots with discreet cosmetic selection, but everybody has their favorites.

They've made so many changes that make the sticky launcher weaker, adding in new, weird mechanics like damage ramp up over time.
Stickies were never intended to be an offensive weapon, but it just turned out that way. I'd be fine if they just added back the high damage, but had a heavy arming delay (like the scottish resistance, but not as long) and buff the grenade launcher.

Pipes will always be more interesting than stickies for offensive plays.
