Just finished Act 1 of Witcher 1 and went to rest at the campfire in the slums only to get spawnraped by a Fleder or whatever. I hope this game gets more comfy because right now it's the antithesis of comfy; Dare i say, uncomfy.

witchers are crafted with a purpose, their mutations are there for a reason. they have increased reflexes, heightened senses, they can see in the dark, they can hear and smell things normal humans can't, they are immune to diseases and on top of that they still need potions. every part of their design and training serves to give them an edge against monsters. ciri's teleport will be of little use when she gets jumped by a monster and torn to pieces in some dark cave before she even realizes what is happening.

Don't try to clear every area of question marks and do everything before moving on to the next one, you'll get burned out and you'll be able to return later on anyway. The game has massive amount of content.

Story missions give you the most exp, so if you feel underleveled at any time, just do a few story quests.

Try selling stuff to the appropriate merchants when you can to get more money.

Try crafting the essential potions and bombs early on.

In HoS you have Shani. It's a really nicely done side romance and it doesn't affect Geralt's relationship with Triss/Yen.

In BaW, you can have sex with Syanna and you can visit the brothel, but none of it affects your main romance ending. At the end of BaW, Triss/Yen will come to Geralt's vineyard.

Me liking Geralt and Triss has nothing to do with Yen, I don't dislike her at all nor do I think she's a huge bitch. I have no problem recognizing that she is Geralt's one true love in the books and I think she's quite fun in the game too. She genuinely made me laugh several times. I love her sarcasm. I'm just not sold on her relationship with Geralt, it leaves me indifferent and I prefer her in the role of a feisty ex wife.

The games were my introduction to TW world, through them I grew to like the world and the characters and I'm personally more attached to their game versions. Triss has been there since day one and I love her and Geralt together. I played TW1 first, and i still think it's my favorite in the series, despite the pretty awful combat. The atmosphere in particular, music, characters and some of the quests just made it for me. It was EXACTLY what i thought the Witcher universe was like before going in, and i was completely immersed.

I feel the same. I think TW1 combat system is one of the worst I've seen in an RPG game, but I still have close to ten playthroughs and I love that game to death.

TW2 is similar, I don't like the combat, save system is the worst ever, combat is unresponsive and annoys me, navigation was shit until I learned every area by heart, qte's are overused. But the atmosphere, characters, story, attention to details..it all makes up for it and TW2 is maybe my favorite game of all time.

TW3 also has flaws, but gameplay wise it's probably the best in the series. Combat is average at best, witcher senses are overused, but again, attention to detail, characters, soundtrack, atmosphere...all superb.

If Cyberpunk does the things Witcher did good, I'm more than willing to forgive them gameplay flaws.

Anyone has the screen from TW2 where Geralt holds the spoon to someone's throat in a cutscene?

I just started playing TW3, I've been marathoning TW1 and TW2 through the past 2 weeks or so. I'm upset that they basically offed Iorveth and Saskia. Iorveth may not have been a great guy, but he was a great character. Aedirn and the Pontar get like one line in the intro to TW3 where Vesemir and Geralt say they're just gone now. They had a damned dragon, and they're just "gone" with one line? It's really disappointing writing. It feels like they threw away interesting settings and characters for no real reason except that it might have made it harder for people who were getting introduced to the series with TW3. I don't think we ever return to the areas from TW2 in TW3, so it seems pointless to overwrite any history there with "oops it's gone" to get rid of discrepencies from player choices.

That's not how it went at all. Geralt was the one making the moves on Triss and when she started talking about the past at KM, Geralt told her he is not ready to talk about it. She suggested Geralt to form his own personality outside of her influence and said his memory should start returning on its own which eventually happens(in TW3 he even says that Triss helped him get his memory back). Their whole romance in TW1, happens because Geralt insists, Triss even plays hard to get demanding Geralt to act a certain way around Alvin, take her side over Shani and bring her the ring, all of which is at the animus of the player or from the game perspective Geralt. Triss did act opportunistic and embraced Geralt's advances without insisting much on bringing up his past despite him not wanting to hear about it initially. For that she is at fault.

Again, you are twisting facts. Geralt remembered Yen in the beginning and asked Triss to tell him the truth and she does so during their trip to Flotsam. The game says she told him about his relationship with Yen. At the elven baths, Geralt(who is well aware of Yen and what Triss did at that point) can declare love to her and propose a bath. Triss is not the one making the moves on Geralt, it's the other way around. Triss even insists that Geralt drops Roche and go after Yen instead, while he has no problem postponing his search for Yen. She even offers to leave Geralt alone.

Triss tells Geralt at one point how she took advantage of him and he brushes her off and says he never even intimated. How things play out between them and whether they continue their romance is up to you to decide, but at no point will you see Geralt blaming Triss for anything. Give the man some credit, it was his choice to be with Triss, she never forced him to do anything.

I think those plums are wreaking havoc in me gut.

It really felt to me that Triss was initiating things at Kaer Morhen, but that could be because I was surprised by how sudden ALL the sex was in that game. I think the option was something innocuous like "Let's stay and talk some more," and then they're on the bed. Geralt doesn't even remember the past at this point, so him saying he's not ready to talk about it doesn't feel to me like he's deliberately avoiding discussing his prior feelings for Yennefer (who he hasn't seemed to remember yet). I guess it depends on how you consider manipulation. I thought it was manipulative of her to take advantage of Geralt's amnesia, didn't she love him even though he loved Yennefer prior to the game's events? She doesn't mention that, or his relationship with Yen, or the reasons he was involved with the Wild Hunt to begin with. She doesn't always overtly initiate sexual advances, but she immediately reciprocates them and acts as if they were lovers prior to his amnesia even though she knows very well what's going on. Of course, Geralt can fuck a shit-ton of people on his own in the games, but Triss is the "main relationship" in the first two.

I don't remember Geralt remembering Yennefer at the beginning of TW2 though, does he remember they were lovers? I thought he just recovered that memory more towards the end when he remembers chasing the Wild Hunt to find her, and thought that him remembering that he sacrificed himself for her was him remembering that she wasn't just somebody he wanted to find but somebody he loved or deeply cared for.

TW1 is notorious for how easy it is to get laid. I try to play Geralt as faithful to Triss and sometimes I had to reload the game because how ambiguous the dialogue options are and how women throw themselves at Geralt. It's harder not getting laid in that game.

Triss had no idea Geralt was with the Hunt or what happened to him and Yen. Last time she saw them, they died and Ciri took them somewhere unknown to her. Five years have passed and Geralt appears out of nowhere without his memory. Triss has no way of knowing where he was or what he did during that time and she only learns about Yen being alive after Geralt remembers her in tW2.

Triss always loved Geralt but he only saw her as a friend in the books. Having Geralt back from the dead and this time showing interest in her proved as too tempting for Triss and she accepted his advances and started a relationship with him. Like I said, it's an opportunistic thing to do and she could have been more insistent in bringing up the past, but she didn't. He gradually remembers searching for Yen and trading his life for her with the Hunt, but he fully recovers his memory at the end of the game. As soon as he remembered Yen though, he demanded Triss to tell him everything and the way he asked her shows he was aware of what she did. He says to Triss: "I want you to tell me everything, even the things you don't want to, even the things that might hurt..." By the time they reach Flotsam, Geralt knows about his relationship with Yen. Despite that he can choose to continue being with Triss and even declare love to her.

Velen is an awful place, but it's a nicely, realistically done area. Novigrad and it's surroundings are my favorite. Skellige is great too and so is Beauclair. KM has a very unique atmosphere too. I appreciate the areas being diverse enough to keep things fresh. It means a lot in a game as long as this one.

Triss literally uses magic to seduce Geralt the first time they fuck. I'm re-reading the series rn, and whenever Geralt and Yen go to the ball and Thannedd, theres a pasage about how Triss seduced the witcher after a particularily nasty fight w/ Yen, and how she used magic.

The words used are seduction, little magic and brief relationship, but seduction isn't something bad and nothing suggests the magic was anything malicious, quite the contrary. If Triss maliciously used magic on him, the whole conversation he has with Triss about it would make no sense. Triss calls herself his mistake and he agrees. They are talking alone and both know what has happened between them and you can clearly see that Geralt considers himself responsible and doesn't blame her for anything or considers himself in any way used by her.

I think both romances are great. CDPR offered an interesting choice and we get two different happy endings for Geralt to pick.

I tried both of them and I ultimately prefer Triss. I think she is more fun and interesting character and I love the way Geralt acts around her. He is loving, protective, kind, sweet, gentle...he smiles and jokes...I love seeing him like that.

I also enjoy Triss romance scenes and quests better, her chemistry with Geralt, the way romance is integrated with her other agendas and the story, the way you have to work to win her over...pretty much all of it.

Yennefer romance has some nice moments too, but to me it felt colder, more clinical and like it's a given. I also think Geralt is more restrained and calculated with Yen. But she was his great love in the books and I can respect people liking and choosing her, she just doesn't do much for me. The only romance scene I enjoyed with her was the tent one before the final battle as she genuinely seemed open and without that fake ice bitch guard. She was honest and natural in that scene. I liked it.

Question regarding NG+
So, today I'll set off to murder the living shit out of Imlerith, so I think it won't take much longer to finish the main quest, things is, after the ending, does the game automatically take me to NG+? Do I have to play the expansions before finishing the main quest? Or can I play them after the main quest but before NG+? I really don't have time to play the whole game a second time on NG+ to get the level required for expansions (I heard they increase on NG+)

Yennefer calls Ciri her daughter in the same scene(in Polish VA at least, which is the language in which it is originally written), but I have no problem with it or with Triss calling Ciri her sister, although I don't exactly like applying traditional family roes to them considering Ciri upbringing and her begin on her own for like 95% of her life. I don't see it as her trying hard to be friends with Ciri. They actually save each other lives later during the KM section and Ciri shows care for Triss on few occasions too.

You don't have to like Triss or have Geralt be with her, nothing wrong with that. I just appreciate having a choice in the matter and as someone who played all three games multiple times over the years, I have a strong connection to her, as well as her relationship with Geralt. I also think she showed tremendous character growth and I'm very happy with everything CDPR did with her.

You have to gradually upgrade your gear. Regular to enhanced to superior to mastercrafted to grandmaster. Each tier requires separate set of diagrams to be found.
