Can anybody tell me how i can change the bodyslots on vanilla items?
I'm trying to change the Nuka World cowboy hats to only occupy the headband slot, so they wont obstruct any hairs at all, but when i do they simply turn invisible.
I can do it well enough with hats that were added by mods but for some reason the DLC hats are just being assholes.
Do i have to jump through some stupid hoops again like using Nifskope to change it?

Playing Fallout 4 without any DLC. I notice my building options are limited. Should I get Wasteland Workshop? Which other DLC do you recommend?

Is Fallout 4 bad because it's the only game in the series you can play for 12 hours and feel like you've accomplished fuck all in?

I think I've never enjoyed just exploring and wandering around aimlessly so much in any other game before, but holy shit any time I try to touch the main quest I break out in hives and my nose starts to bleed.

It's difficult to justify my 1,000+ hour playtime on Steam because frankly I can't/won't recommend this game to anyone, but I think I'm... content with just trying to survive in the Commonwealth's inhospitable countryside while taking in the sites.

Honestly it's a little depressing.

Also I'm in the school of thought that the only way you should have been able to use the power armor and minigun in Concord (thus prompting other character types to search for OTHER SOLUTIONS TO THE PROBLEM as is Fallout's modus-operandi) is by having a character with a 10 int and whatever that perk is that makes fusion cores last longer. Nuclear Physicist?

Just rationalize that their knowledge of military R&D means they can use power armor, even if not at the height of effectiveness.

Otherwise one would have to receive training from Danse or joining the Brotherhood as with Fallout 3 and NV, and make that whole "Join the Brotherhood and you'll have your own suit of power armor!" recruitment line from Danse MEAN something.

On "normal" difficulty, I noticed that fusion cores barely get drained. Like it takes a really long time to go through one, so by the time you're through 1 you'll probably have found 4 more in a cache or ammo box or just lying around somewhere. You can, if you'd like, basically start the game in power armor and never ever have to exit it except to like look at certain computer monitors or upgrade your weapons or something.

Even on Survival the fusion core drain is negligible compared to the sheer amount of cores you'll be swimming in even within the first ten levels.

Some people enjoy this kind of instant gratification, though, so that's likely why it's done. Some may argue you can easily acquire power armor at an extremely early point in the game in Fallout 2, but it still requires some meta knowledge of the game world beforehand and is definitely an exploit that you have to go out of your way to accomplish.

Bethesda handing this to you right at the start is like saying "we know you didn't earn this but this is just a playground anyway, so have fun and kick some sand around". Shiny toy for easily distracted individuals, et al.

I have sort of wanted to try making a build entirely around benefiting from power armor right at the start of the game by taking every PA related perk I can just to upgrade and enhance the suit as soon as possible as a personal challenge, but I haven't the energy to actually go through with it, because even on Survival mode all that's doing is trying to put the game right in easy mode as soon as possible.

Cores are only a problem in the beginning if you sprint like a retard. I did a whole power armor playthrough without nuclear physicists till the very end of the playthrough when I finally got my gat laser and I didn't have any problems with cores.

People who think you need nuclear physicist and a shit ton of cores to do power armor don't know you don't have to press the shift key.

After Gen 3s were a success the program continued for literally no reason, which is why Virgil left the Institute.

I wanted to do some Cobra commander tier stuff with settlements. Like make a trap door that drops people into a pit of deathclaws, and have a giant television screen showing them in the room with the deathclaws.

Rubbing my hands evilly while watching the fools who dared to invade my settlement get eaten alive by giant lizards. All from the safety of a complex control room. I don't think the game even has powered trap doors for settlements, or ways to get the AI to use them / not have shit spawn past the traps to begin with.

Oh that part is easy enough, writing a program that converts frames of an FMV to individual files is easy enough. It's just the idea of setting it like a flipbook that's weird, especially because texture streaming was part of the engine functionality as far back as when it was NetImmerse.
