Just finished replaying Radiant Dawn and this is hands-down the greatest FE ever made. Makes PoR looks like shit

It's pretty much perfect. It's got the best gameplay and the best maps in the series. Objectives are incredibly varied and each map has multiple ways to finish. Elincia's Gambit is the best defend map of all time. Part 3 Endgame is the most epic fight in FE - literally every group is fighting while that counter slowly ticks up. Ledges/elevation is also a 10/10 mechanic that needs to come back. Skill system is great, extremely flexible, my favorite skill system ever. Difficulty is perfect, even on Normal, and Hard mode is the most fair Hard mode in any FE (removal of weapons triangle and range-checking is bullshit though). Gameplay-wise, only Conquest comes close.

Writing is also great. The story is fuckhuge and makes the entire thing grand as fuck. Blood Contract was extremely contrived but it was a small blemish on an otherwise sweeping story. Lack of supports also sucked, but when you have 70+ characters it's impossible to make supports for them.

Biggest flaw of RD is unit balance. Seriously this is worse than Revelations. There are just so many garbage units who get further fucked by availability, and then in Part 4 the game just hands you Royals, the best units in the game bar none, on a silver fucking platter. "You know those units you spent a ton of time training? Well fuck them, here are better ones with no investment." A lot of the unit balance issues can be excused by the party-switching, but even then there are NO excuses for units like Meg, Fiona, Lyre, and Leonardo.

RD is the best game in the series and I've played half a dozen. The only people who dislike this game are casual faggots who can't beat it.

It's not, normal is actually very hard for the normal player, you'd be surprised by how many people get stuck in the prison chapter in part one and hard mode isn't fair just because of the removal of a QoL mechanic like checking range, but the actual speed buffing a lot of enemies' get like armors in general (heh)

You also failed to talk about the worst mechanic this game introduced, biorhythm, it's an extremely inconvenient mechanic that most of the time fails to help you and ends up making realiable high skill units be innacurate and that can fuck you over if the enemy just hapened to spawn with high byorhythm, easily a mechanic that could have been made to help you, but just ends up cluttering combat and the stats screen, the inability to skip enemy phase or animations if turned on is another problem that could have been easily implemented considering the gargantuan ally and enemy phases in this game.

Again, no it's not, you have all part one people acting as if Ashnard was actually okay and ignoring the fact that a lot of innocents died for his sake, Micaiah just flat out ignoring what Daein did to crimeans and gallians and getting pissy at the guy that ended his killstreak, part 2 isnt that bad, just pretty contained and in act 3 micaiah goes full retard in the way she acts (seriously, were going to kill the only good thing in begnion so the bad begnion can fuck us over anyway), and new mystery of the emblem had around 70 characters, and all of them got fleshed a bit in a support convo, making RD's lack of it very unsettling (i know it was rushed, but man, there was potential)

It's definitely the quintesential game for the hardcore SRPG fan, and I love it.

Things FEH should steal from FGO:

Friends literally don't matter unless there is a Gauntlet going on. Introduce a new currency ala Friend Points which we can use to roll on a free banner containing mostly 1-2* units, with a very low chance of getting a 3*. In FGO, you get one free roll on this banner daily. In FEH, this would be a way to trickle feathers to the playerbase or incentivize promoting units like 1* Hinata to 4* for skills.
>Unit-specific strengthening quests
In FGO, units get quests which have their own short stories once they hit a certain threshold. Doing these generally give you orbs or in some cases, buff the unit. This would help market the original games by letting players learn more about characters, add more content for longtime players, and differentiate units from one another.

They can roll this out slowly too, starting with the most popular units. Put it under the story stone. At 5* Level 40, you get to do the quest, which grants the unit a personal skill and maybe some other reward. Doing this would allow IS to balance units post-SI where stats are pretty much the only thing that matters. Additionally, if they do this for units that aren't often used (Shanna, Reigh, etc.), it might incentivize whales to actually use hoards of feathers or roll for units they otherwise wouldn't.

I'd also love to steal FGO's story mode which is leagues above FEH's but that will never happen so I didn't bother writing about that.

As far as friend-summoning...it might not be a bad idea. Once Heroes hits it's stride and we start getting a large number of units, pulling any one outside of it's focus is going to be hilariously difficult.

Based on what I'm seeing from FGO, having just now finished Orleans, GO's story isn't better per se, it's just that Heroes is still pretty young. Fire Emblem narratives in general take awhile to rev up, and the storytelling Fire Emblem uses is a little differant.

I don't know about sub 50, past something like 1-2 maybe, but an average Nolan can face some annoying shaky 50-60~ hit rates vs the more evasive enemies around chapters 1-8 and 1-7. They on average have 40 avoid around that point, so a Nolan that is either unpromoted or low on skill (not incredibly likely based on his high growth but whatever) can have bad hit rates when biorhythm just decides he should lose 10 hit and the enemy should get 10 avoid.
