I still remember my friend who was a ret pally back then cursing the fuck out of the HP system, when it was introduced, because it fucked up paladins as a whole, especially rets.

But mind it that during wotlk pre holy power they were disgustingly good, because you didn't had to manage anything and finally you had spells that refill your mana, which you didn't had in TBC.
Paladins were strong because they were super versatile, there wasn't a single damn situation where you could grab their balls, they had a spell for anything.
Then Cata came and the ability pruning hurt it a lot also the abilities what required holy power were terrible, underpowered and not fun at all to manage.(Especially inquisition Jesus fuck that shit).

However I enjoyed holy paladins, it wasn't holy light spam anymore, while prot was not bad but not good either, it was boring as fuck.

The current cancer is more recent, some of it was around during nost but the majority of it was from K2 which then migrated to current Elysium.
I'm not smart enough to say why and it would just be gay armchair psychology anyhow, but it definitely is a completely newer cancer much much much annoying than even the worst autists from scriptcraft (or pretty much anything pre nost). Many of them are literally teenagers tho i don't think the cancer is simply an age thing as plenty of young people are fun to play with. Discord has a hand in it as well.

Both iterations of Scriptcraft peaked at ~1500 players, quickly dropped off to ~500, and died within a year. They aren't exactly the best representations of US private server stability, but I have doubts that this server will get shut down anyways when Blizzard mostly targets cash shop shit with 5k+ online players.

Yeah, discord by itself isn't the worst thing in the world (tho i'd prefer just using the in-game tools or a simple guild website calendar rather than some stupid chatroom) but discord combined with an anonymous forum creates a fuckload of cancer. Plus the normal complaints like circlejerks and cliques, which are common in guilds anyhow but multiplied by a lot when discord is an option (basically no end to the attention you can whore for yourself, basically).

Also correct me if I'm wrong, but I was under the impression that only one server has actually led to a court case and that was scapegaming. I was also under the impression that Blizzard is forced to send out c&d letters (or their equivalent) to hosting services to satisfy protecting their IP - and that they do this all the time but it doesn't necessarily mean anything happens past that.
I think the worry comes from gummy's hosting service dropping him when they get the letter, something OVH and others do not do.
