I've been playing Burn rune and I'll tell you it's not much of a counter to smart blood players. Ones that are smart will just evolve him and trade while hitting your face for 8 damage which is more than enough damage for the card to do its job. The only counter to stopping that damage is "just don't play followers bro lol".

And if they're even smarter they just try to save as many evolves as possible for spawn which isn't very hard considering how much removal is tacked onto the new Blood followers for free along with the crazy early tempo of the neutral package.

All the sword and hag-fags are pretty much gone and the ladder is mostly blood right now. Good thing they announced monthly updates because the game is going to need one.

This is ultimately my problem with him. In the Blood kit he doesn't bother me but he's just such a great low commitment follow up to aggro kits. Everyone has soft win cons by 8 but Spawn can come out on 6 without any real sacrifice of your deck list.

Turn 8 isn't just fighting against aggro, but in another meta it'd have meant fighting against Eachtar or DShift or Roach. 8 from hand isn't even that bad for turn 8, and going to 9 to win for 16 opens up other match up issues.

The fact that he slots into an aggro kit right now means he really can be lethal on play. In a control kit it'd be feasible that someone with no healing might just tank 16 on 7 depending on the game state.

The primary issue for Seraph decks during pre-nerf TotG were the 13 to face burst that the SahaBahaZell combo would throw out. When you sit at 7 or less health, you can't afford to drop the Seraph down reliably.
You could tutor a Seraph via Prism Priestess whereas Dragon has to draw draw draw to get their lightning blasts. You can't tutor 13 health back.

Alright, Control Haven definitely is a good way to deal with Spawn. Currently 6-2 against them and 1 lost because I misplayed so bad. The thing I noticed that you actually WANT to go 2nd against them because more card draw and you don't want blood to have 3 evos. More evo = more spawn damage from last words.

I've been using this with some moderate success. Rapunzel and Levi can be replaced, I've seen others going with different options there. Might go to 3x Mutagenic if blood gets more popular. Caprice is too niche and Enchanted Library is hard to drop. You lose a lot of tempo earlygame if you spend 2 mana on it, sadly.
