Anyone know of a guide for playing MHXX (or really MH in general) in japanese? Planning on importing it for the switch when it comes out so I'm trying to work out a plan of attack, so to speak.

I know some moon runes but not enough to probably play optimally. I was planning on using tools like Ping's dex or kiranico, but there are some things that might be a bit difficult even with those, like food buffs since they don't have an icon associated with them (although if they're written in katakana it shouldn't be a big deal)

If you actually go out of your way to figure them out you can probably get most of the food buffs down. With some extra work you can find out what ingredients each quest gives and what you can make from them and extrapolate from that, it'll just be tedious. I don't remember what I did exactly to figure out the buffs in MHO when I was playing it in chinese, but I don't remember having much trouble; I might have used OCR software and google translate though.

Otherwise it really shouldn't be a problem as long as you have kiranico and know the layout of things like stat screens from X/Gen.

Currently playing XX on 3DS, but it's the fan translation that covers everything important (not flavour dialogue, but almost everything else). Dunno if Switch has any kind of CFW/homebrew but if it does there may be a translation for it when it comes to that too.
