Hundreds of hours of addicting customizations, practically 200 pattern slots for crazy pattern hoarding, and self punishment for being late to the amiibo card train where some of the cards go for dozens if not hundreds of $$$. Which sucks because all the NPCs (Nat, Jack, Franklin, Katrina, etc.) are all locked behind their amiibo cards. So you can't see them in-game unless you buy their card. Also, you're missing out on dozens of now retired DLC items. Though, you can buy an amiibo figure or card on ebay that has them pre-loaded. But, you won't be able to get the retired DLC villagers like Claude or Louie, ever.

You can check the homebrew general to see if you meet the requirements to hack your 3DS, then you can use the save editor to put fish/insects (and anything else I guess) into your inventory. Yeah, but why? I mean, I get it, you don't want people coming into your town without your permission. But first, both of you need to have each other added in order to visit a town. Seeing as there's maybe 20 or so regulars here we might all have each other added already. Then you need to have your gates open for someone to come in. It's unlikely you'd have your gates open if you weren't checking the general at/around the same time so you'd see if someone was impersonating you. Lastly, if someone comes into your town without your permission you can just end the session.

Idk. It's your game so you choose how cautious or carefree you play it. It's just off-putting to see how the general is today compared to when NL launched.

Have any of you guys had sapling randomly die? I planted 4 cedar trees and 3 of them died (I don't think it's an issue of placement since I planted fruit trees in those exact same spots temporarily, and there are cedar trees in the same row). I tried planting a cedar tree in one of the spots again to see what would happen and it died too. Then I tried planting fruit trees in those 3 spots and all but one died. What gives?

I know. The cedars I planted are 4~6 spaces away from the cobblestone in front of the station. I have 5 fully grown cedar trees in the same row (there aren't any bushes in between them just roses), which is why I thought it was kind of weird that they died. Also the fruit trees I planted as a test died too except for one.

I DID IT! After what seemed like forever in placing tiles and plot resetting, I finally got Elmer in a good spot. He kept going in the same spot behind my house (which I couldn't put tiles at because the next amiibo card I scanned went into that same spot as well) but when I TT'd forward a day he changed to a better spot.

It's just going back a day, loading the game, doing shit, saving/quitting, go forward a day, load game, do shit, repeat. My understanding is that it only moves the game forward in the days that you move it forward, since it doesn't seem to affect my trees until I go forward, but I could be wrong.

Plot resetting is obnoxious bullshit though. Fucking Rover.

The game is pretty finicky about planting stuff. You can't have too many things in a row and you can't try to grow more than a handful of things close together at one time and there's also areas where things just don't grow.

Since the fruit trees are now also dying I would guess it has something to do with how many trees you're putting in that row, assuming there haven't been any other changes like a villager moving in or a PWP being put nearby.

Because you are too close to the entrance. You know that one space directly down the door which you cannot place any patterns, items or dig any holes? I guess the game considers this as if it was a physical object, so you can't plant anything directly next to it. Tom nook also takes this space into account when you're choosing a location for your home. So maybe that's why your sapling died because it thinks it's next to a building. Spaces on other sides of your house or your neighbors's houses are fine as long as there is one space apart for it to grow.
