Melee it's simple and obvious: only autistic people want to keep playing the same 5 matchups for the last decade.

Smash 4 is not as bad as melee but there's definitely enough crossover with the melee scene that we just sort of inherited it.

Also Smash appeals to autists because it's super optimizable. The way the movement works, etc.

Adding onto this, the reason you see and hear more about Smash players being degenerates is largely because there are more of them. A large percentage of them anime players are insane, but there are a lot less of them and they have fewere events. Smash has a major like every month, while you'll hear about DoA or Arcana Heart like 3 or 4 times a year. I'm sure all 5 people that play Virtua Fighter outside of Japan are cool, but it's just 5 people.

A reminder that Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown is a minigame in Yakuza 6 and has online play. Hopefully this will be the case for the western release so it's a perfect time to jump on that game.

Tekken movement has nothing like the complexity of Smash movement.
Short hop
Full hop
Fast fall
Autocancel
Orientation
Angle
Double (or more) jump

That's just jumping. Ground movement has a lot to it as well. Combine that with the absolute centrality of stage positioning in Smash. Yeah corner game is big in GG and walls in Tekken but in Sm4sh for example if you whack someone onto a far side platform early, then follow up with the right hit, at the right timing, you can take a stock at very very low percent. Along with gimping, platform use, etc.

Movement in smash is stupidly technical and it's at the core of the game.

Depends heavily on the kidn you are using. I have a sanwa lever, so all I had to do was take some screws out of the bottom of my Qanba to open it, then use a flat head screwdriver to manually loose then lever a bit.

How much time do you have in your main game? I've been playing SFV since I bought it on sale after Evo, but I play too many fighting games, so I have about 150 hours in it since I spent 100 playing GG, 50 playing T7, 30 in KoF, 30 in DoA, 50 in Arcana, 70 in Smash 4et cetera.

We only know that Sony paid for the Capcom Pro Tour, we dont know if they did anything past that.
Sony were also most likely the ones who pushed Capcom to rush out SFV asap so that they get their own special exclusive fighter to bind the FGC to the PS4.

And for MVCI its absolutely fucking clear that Marvel gave them fuckall. That new Spiderman game looks like it has fifty times the budget MVCI got.

SC is super cancel which means certain specials can be comboed into a super for an extra bar. Oh yeah I forgot to mention what actually makes it a "kusoge", design choices related UI and sound. The commentators as an idea and execution are absolutely awful, the menus and UI look like dogshit and the music is horrible for the most part, the game gives off such an amateur feel because of these things, the core gameplay is solid enough to deserve a much better presentation

even with "execution heavy" characters like e.ryu you can usually swap out for faster normals and do the same combos while just losing a little bit of damage

amusingly though regular ryu is probably one of the top 5 1f link dependant characters at higher levels of play since he doesn't have a meterless way to combo into hard knockdown off of landing a jab or frametrap without linking into sweep

sf4 is weird because it has a lot of very delayed links that are tight, but once you learn the "rhythm" of hits in that game almost every combo feels the same to hit

gg and bb use a gatling system that doesn't require super precise timing in most cases
and most kof games have a pretty large buffer i think so it's a similar thing
sf4's combos rely on links and it doesn't have a buffer system for them, so the timing for a lot of combos is pretty strict in that game
