Ryuji is already top tier among the party members, so I can't think of anything extra to give him that wouldn't make him broken, or would be redundant. Maybe Elec Amp and Sharp Student? Apt Pupil and Arms Master make more sense on Yusuke.

Yusuke needs tons of improvement. Give him Charge and/or more powerful physical skills, improve the activation rates on Counter skills (or let them stack), give him Ice Boost/Amp, and maybe boost his HP a tiny bit too. Makoto has higher base HP than him, on top of her insane SP pool.

I mean, I can see what they were going for. Make Ryuji the straight-forward raw power and durability guy, whereas Yusuke is the balanced/technical fighter. The problem is that you can't land crits or status effects on major bosses, so most of Yusuke's skills become useless, and he doesn't even get stronger physical skills or Ice Boost/Amp to compensate. It's somehow WORSE than the Kanji/Chie dynamic in vanilla P4, because Chie's problems were mostly midgame due to everything between Black Spot and Agynestra sucking, and Chie at least got Power Charge over Kanji.

It feels like Yusuke, and to a lesser extent Morgana, were designed more for sweeping mobs in Palaces/Mementos, whereas Ryuji and Makoto are better suited to bosses. The problem is that Swift Strike is OP and can clear trash mobs with raw power, and Makoto gets two crit-boosting weapons. At least Mishima's bonuses mean that we don't have to worry about focusing on the 'wrong' party members this time.

If they'd just given him charge he'd be a viable alternative to Ryuji, with slightly less damage but a greater chance to hit. Every character should either get Charge/Concentrate or some good party heal/buff/status removal skill, Yusuke gets fucking nothing. Literally the only thing that's good about him is 20% chance to reflect physical.

They should have made that skill hit all targets. That would make him useful for clearing large trash mobs quickly and cleanly. Hit a weakness once, pass it to Yusuke, he rekts everything, then swap him out for Ryuji when you get to the boss.

I mean, people have made a meme out of how often Ryuji misses, his accuracy is fucking dreadful, worse than Kanji I believe, but it's STILL not enough to give Yusuke any real sort of edge over him. It's fucking pathetic, how could they fuck up with a character this badly? Even Morgana has a clearly defined role in the party, even if he's not used often he still fills a unique niche and you know exactly when you want to bring him up to the plate. Yusuke has fucking nothing, except maybe fighting against Akechi, but does he even have high counter at that point?
