Fire Emblem Heroes has more people to answer to than just Nintendo. Since it is published on other platforms, namely the App store and the Play store, it is subject to oversight. Mainly, in terms of ratings.

IIRC the game is rated an E10. This means that the game has to conform to that E10 standard.

The ESRB has a thing against buttcracks (See how Tharja's butt got censored in the US but not Europe)

So the dudes behind FEH get the new art, and one of the artists has art that doesn't conform to the guidelines. So they put it in the game's files (But don't release it) get the new content rated. They are then threatened to change the buttcrack (ESRB hates buttcracks) or get a higher rating. A higher rating, in the minds of Nintendo, means less young people playing the game as some parents will only allow E or E10 games to be installed on phones.

By not doing this, not only would they damage their family friendly reputation, but they'd directly lose business and harm future prospects.

So they comply with the autists at ESRB who think a buttcrack is the devil and cover up the crack. Still leaving the titties and soft pucci though.

Their options were to fill in the buttcrack or face losing business. No customer had their product changed (Since it wasn't even out yet) and there was literally no harm done.

So please, justify to me why Nintendo should have suffered in terms of business to keep it.

I think the biggest offense I take with FE12 is they completely dropped FE3's aesthetics. Those murals of the Divine Dragon King Naga in the introduction sequence of FE3 added so much flavor to the game. I never skip it whenever I load FE3 up. FE12 in general is just lacking in flavor period, and it's abysmal spritework doesn't help at all.
