Since that this is a cold dimension. There's actually alot of cold related mobs as well as some GoG mobs that spawn here, rather than just the regular deadly Iceika mobs.

You know when you spew this toxic shit around, it *surprisingly* doesn't actually help anything. It actually makes the situation worse. Providing constructive and positive posts would go a long way. Remember, monkey see monkey do, when you do something, odds are someone else will follow suite. So when you shit all over your nest, the next person will probably shit all over it too. But when you do something constructive and help the general, the next person will probably want to help out as well.

This is a self fulfilling cycle.

If you want a better general, it starts with (YOU).

When someone else does something shitty, you have to resist fighting fire with fire, it's tempting I know but it goes no where. You have to instead point out they are being unreasonable and provide a constructive alternative to their behavior - the second part is the most important part, providing guidance and structure for them to improve on, anyone can be a critic but providing good and quality information for that criticism can have a profound effect.

Remember, change starts with (YOU).

Don't be lazy and hope some single amazing person will materialize out of nothing and will come and fix everything magically. It won't happen, to fix a community, you have to work like a community.

I'm not asking you to turn into some gay reddit hug box. I'm not asking you to pretend to be something you're not. I'm just asking that before you post, ask yourself a question. Does this help anyone? Is this a constructive post? Am I doing my part in the community? If you answered no to anyone of those you probably should revise your post or course of action.

Remember, /mcg/ is a community. It only works if ALL of us are working together. No lone actors, everyone. Think, and stay positive.

There is a way in Clayium where you can make Nether Stars from practically a visit to the End, but look at that fucking tier. I'm not clicking that fucking much to get to that point.

Anyone here tried the Invasion pack? Fuck me, you don't know stress until you've played this shit.

I'm a vanillafag who's always stuck to visual mods and the newest, up-to-date version, and just building by hand for fun.

How do I into mods? I read the sticky, and it appears that 1.7.10 is the best version, so I'm installing liteloader and forge for that right now. What are the most entry level mods? I think I remember liking The Twilight Forest a lot, but that's all :/

Looking to make a modpack around the idea that the further away from spawn you go, the tougher monsters are but the ores are more plentiful. HeatAndClimate had a few updates lately:

--New cold tech; fridges and stuff. Cold is need for teleportation, item drop preservation, surviving in extremely hot environments with low resistance armor (but the game has a easy to get heat resistance magic ring so whatever about that...).
--New magic teleporter tech, for items and now fluids.
--New low tier spinning machine for efficient creation of cloth from cotton and string (i always found this tedious early game actually)

These mobs are everywhere in this pack. And attacking them is normally lethal not only because of the melee damage they deliver, but they're usually electromasters, and there's not many things to resist magic damage.

Better Grass is a subjective opinion, but Faitful looks objectively bad :^)

Lava pit (or anything with fire) is the way to go, just because you save on time and fuel to cook the steaks, but Crusher looks like a very fun alternative (even if impractical)

Anyway, I'm now a level 3 electromaster, and have some interesting powers. Most notably this one, where you charge up and get some random useful buffs at the expense of some hunger. And like every other ability, the more you use it, the better it gets.

Theres a reason why castles have really small windows anon, they are not for looking good they are for being defensive and You got a really good looking castle, post more pics from other angles.
So yeah, those windows are too big for the exterior but could work better on yet more elevated levels or facing the interior.

as i said, his mods do their job well, but he doesn't have the same stylistic limitations i put on myself. that's just how i like to develop, and other styles are totally legitimate too. but i wouldn't dream of tossing something like a mob spawning machine in either of my main mods, whereas mcjty can easily just say "oh, i already have machines that make entire dimensions, something that spawns mobs should be fair game".

not saying he's bad in any way. but i doubt RFTools is holding back any features because they wouldn't be aesthetically consistent.

Eh, I've already gotten FoamFix OK'd by the new FTB/Forge standard. I don't think most coremods will actually have a problem with it.

There's three points to it:

* Coremods should be separate from mods (but they can be part of one .JAR, it's just about separation of responsbiilities) - There's some technical reasons as to why this is done - if a coremod accidentally loads a Minecraft class while it's initializing, it can prevent other coremods from modifying it, or maybe even crash the game; with a separate JAR, it's much easier to simply block away coremods from incorrectly accessing certain classes outside of the usual ASM transformation process.

I downloaded the curseforge downloader and used pip to get all the requirements

Through the console (powershell) I used the command:
py -3.6 update.py --manifest <the manifest from the skyfactory 3 file I mentioned earlier>

It downloaded the stuff and said unpacking complete.

Now I have a minecraft/mods folder, with all the mods it downloaded, in the same folder as the downloader

What do I do with it? Do I make a new instance in MultiMC and just add all of the mods in minecraft/mods folder?
The file I downloaded earlier also had, along with the manifest an overrides folder, where do I put that?

Is it standard to build power gen that requires infrastructure, and then later switch to something MAWPC like big reactors because they aren't laggy as fuck?

I mean jesus christ this charcoal to dynamo farm dropped my fps from 300 to 60. A good passive reactor won't even generate more rf/t. It'll just improve fps by 400%. Also I really like the way graphite blocks look. They work well with chisel factory blocks.

- signing actually does mean something. It's not about signing something to say it isn't malicious, it is to maintain integrity that this program came from the correct source and hasn't been modified in any way. This is to avoid the possibility of a maliciously-modified program from spreading.

Forcing a coremod -- a modification to the source code of minecraft -- to be open source is going to be a point of accountability. In 1.7, someone can bundle a coremod without providing source that just does SOMETHING. The only way to find out what is to go through all the decompile steps which is a waste of time.
Now, someone has to provide open source and be accountable for whatever changes they make and if they break something with someone else's code, or brick a feature in minecraft.
Keeping mods, no less coremods, closed source is frankly a waste of time. I can put a jar through all the steps and get to source code in less than twenty minutes and find out what a mod is doing. The only reason I imagine people cling to it is some victim complex regarding Lex or god forbid some illusion of having copyright ownership over code distributed over the internet. I have a repo of Thaumcraft 4, decompiled, with about 80% of fields and methods deobfuscated. There is nothing stopping me from making a public repository for community bugfixes and releases.
Closed source for mineycrafty mods is old hat and was always draconian, doesn't matter if it was a coremod or not. Having coremods be FORCED into open source now means that when people do something fucking stupid and brick something they are actually accountable to it, instead of no one having a fucking clue why <this thing> is broken or not working as expected.

Start it up, everything fine. After about 3 mins (usually when i find my first dargon) the game starts to freeze, cant type in console, cant open chests but can still move around. Then it crashes completely if I try to open a menu or anything. WTF.

Minecraft has always run like shit. ALWAYS. And we've always relied on mods like Optifine or FastCraft to make it playable. And now FTB/Forge's policies dictate that THOSE MODS ARE NOT ALLOWED. PERIOD.

The only way a performance-enhancing mod can ever be allowed is if they give up their code to let every Tom, Dick and Harry copy it, to let Forge steal their secrets, to let the circlejerk take power away from its creator and still refuse to include it entirely because it's a coremod.

Or a third-party pack will include these improvement mods, and when the end-users have to accept security certificates just to play the fucknig game, and click no because they don't know what they're doing, and then your pack runs like shit for them, they're going to blame YOU.

THIS IS SUCH A BAD IDEA. AND YET EVERYONE IS COMPLACENT AS FUCK.

because this closed source mod is so difficult to acquire source material for, and its secrets are befuddling to any and all comers to the field of programming. hear ye all and despair, for FTB is coming for you code, your secrets, and your first born child.

there's methods with unmapped arguments, and there will be variables and other field names that didn't make deobfuscation and decompilation steps but I'd say this is 70% usable source material with the rest being time taken to comb over and fix missing fields.
it took me less than fifteen minutes to do. mods have never, at any point, been "safe" from people stealing code. You have no idea what the fuck you are talking about. If I have to I will start posting public repositories of closed-source mods just to prove the point.
