Depends on your build. If you're a regular melee just get an optimal weapon that scales well and has fast DPS. The fastest is probably pure Dex Sharp Sellsword Twinblades because nothing else has the DPS they do. If you're a caster using Gnaw/Dorhys' Gnawing to bleed bosses to death with a Raw Broadsword in your mainhand is also fast.

Honestly I've never found him all that hard either. King of the Storm is basically the warm up phase and even with full melee you just whack him in the head a few times and he's staggered for a riposte. Nameless King himself is probably above average difficulty, but once you learn to read his delayed attacks everyone is pretty simple to dodge. Fun fight, but not super difficult.

I have fond memories of my first playthrough of dark souls 1. I kindled bonfires but didn't upgrade my halberd at all so I fought all endgame bosses with a standard issue +0 halberd. Every fight ended up being a battle of attrition in the end, especially since I was wearing havel's gear with child's mask. I'm saying it because I just feel that 1v1 bosses don't have enough health in ds3 and compensate for it with higher than reasonable damage output.

I'm having some real trouble solo-ing O&S on DS1, please see below:

This is my second run through the game after beating it once, this is with a new character (so not ng+)
I've gone for a str+int spellsword build, both of those stats are mid-high twenties, I've put a little in endurance, most everything else is untouched.
Currently equipped the elite knight set +6/7, a +10 Claymore, I've got magic and strong magic weapon equipped along with large heavy soul arrow, I use the sorcerer's talisman, I have the lingering dragoncrest and havel's rings equipped.
I've been trying to get through the game with no ROFAP and no boss summons, which both became a crutch in my earlier runs.

The problem I've been having is, I think, tied to my (relatively) low HP, basically 2 hits from either and I'm dead.

Is it reasonable to expect myself to be able to solo them both as I am, or should I grit my teeth and go for the summon?

Quelaag is immune to fire and has fairly good defenses so either upgrade your weapon on use a bow and shoot her at her human parts while Mildred tanks for you.

DS2:
For Pursuer no, parrying is not mandatory. You need to get some ADP up because otherwise your dodgerolls have like no iframes. Use a blunt weapon against armored dudes like a mace or something.

The gate does not open but you can get to the area behind the gate by using a nearby ladder.

You can find a Ring of Binding at Heide that cuts your health loss while hollow into half.

Yeah you should really upgrade that to +5 at least before going down to Blighttown because that's the point anything less really falls off damage wise. If you're still using a regular Spear as well I would recommend upgrading to something in the class with more range and damage like the Silver Knight Spear or Demon's Spear, both of which are available in Anor Londo or the latter also purchasable off Shiva.

It's the longest curved sword when two handed which is the best moveset, has the faster scimitar 2HR1s, and reaches peak damage of around 400 on a mere 26/40 build which compared to 80 Dex is very low investment giving room for things like healing miracles and other support stats. Also the WA has great range and is very fast giving it a good offensive long range option that deals decent damage, the frost build up is just a bonus. Fighting any competent PKCS user is a nightmare because of its range alone however.

Summon the two dudes at the beginning, clear the first section before the drop down and then use warmth or a healing miracle to top their health off, and do the same right before alonne. I'm a hexer, so in the fight all I had to do was let them tank him and spam spells until he died. Shouldn't be much different as a melee character, the same principle applies.

I don't know about dex/int, I've never tried.

ADP effects agility, which effects how many iframes your rolls give you. You don't need to invest as much if you're investing in attunement as well, just Google what a good amount of Agility is. I think 99+ is what most people go with.

Just read that to familiarize yourself with what each stat does and what the softcaps are, DaS2 has way more going on in that department than the other games.
Also, there are items that lower the requirement to attune a spell, just keep in mind that most things still scale with your magic adjustment.

No point in going past 30/30 for Hexes, you can Spice down pretty much everything you want, only Affinity and Numbness benefit from having more Int.

You can shift those points towards Str, Dex, End and maybe even some Vit just to try to get under 30%. Get Str to at least 20 so that you can use the Crypt BLACKEDsword, and increase Dex so that you can use shit like Silverblack Spear, Roaring Halberd and Fume Sword.

DaS1: I never really delved too deep in my only playthrough, the ones I had the most fun using were a Lightning-ascended Gargoyle Halberd and the true Greatsword of Artorias.

DaS2: Just stock halberd, the moveset was so fun and sweet-spotting enemies felt so rewarding. Also the Dragonrider Twinblade.

Currently my ng++ ds1 character is rolling with the great scythe because the 2h strong attack is love and life. In ds2 I don't actually remember that much. I went through as a hexer recently which was fun and earlier I went with a large club which desu wasn't that much fun because it seems like my character will go out of his way to miss enemies but then sometimes they'll get hit anyway by a club smash a mile away from them.
Oh and in ds1 it was awesome that the mace would 1-shot the stone knights in darkwood but I don't like short-ranged weapons.

Actually speaking of short ranged weapons that's not strictly true. The dagger may be the best weapon in ds3 for normal enemies if not bosses. I upgraded mine to make it easier to farm the silver knights in anor londo but then it turned out that you can just mash r1 for amazing results because poise is bullshit and stunlocks take skill

Yeah, when I first played DaS1 I thought the ascension system was logical and balanced, then came the later games which had infusions and actually retained scaling on Fire and Lightning damage.

I also remember that you could only farm Slabs from Darkwraiths. Gods help you if you decided to spend those Slabs on armor upgrades when you could just use Twinkling on other armor sets instead.

Vig hits caps at 27 and 39, not really much return on going past there. Vitality's pretty good for piling on armor honestly, but returns are pretty linear as I recall. Endurance is good up until 40 and is then suddenly and completely worthless; rolls are cheaper in this game so you can make do with much less.

Other'n that, I dunno, do what you like. I think hitting 27 vig first then getting some end then hitting 40 vig then getting some vit maybe is a fine system, but it's up to you.

DeS: Blessed Gaxe or the Greatsword. Only game with good Faith builds.
DS1: Zweihander. Not chaos infused of course, I had it +15 on a 27/40.
Closest you could get to an effective PvP strength build in that game.
DS2: I think it'd have to be the Fume Sword. Not because it's particularly awesome, but because it made a good pair with my hexing stick, and I loved hexing. Only other candidate is Stone Soldier Spear; I'd wear a Stone Ring and be a total dick.
Bloodborne: Motherfucking Bloodletter. It was everything I liked about the Hunter Axe (almost), plus incredible blood damage, a thrust R2 and a ridiculous one-shot L2. Favorite weapon in any game.
DS3: I think probably the Rotten Ghru Dagger. I like quickstep dagger builds a lot, they're pretty exhilarating, even if I don't do very well with them and can't invade with it. When I invade I use a heavy Greatsword and enjoy that a lot, but it's not as neat to me as daggers.

I'm still confused about deepest lore of Sirris and Hodrick. The design of sunset armor set is clear distortion of undead legion armor set so I believe it's fair to assume he tried to join UL in his younger age but why would Sirris want to kill Hodrick? Sure he's an invader but he's purple so who knows if he's been helping other lord seekers when he feels like it.

636 hours later and I think I'm finally nearing the end of my playtime with DS3.

Might PVP once in a while but II think i'm done experimenting with builds. The most interesting one I played around with was a high VIG/VIT carthus bloodring build with equip load less then .30. You practically become invincible, though damage and damage types are seriously lacking, not much to use other than raw weapons or crossbows. Only high damage weapon to use is raw dragonslayer axe, which isn't very versatile.

Might go back to DS1 for a while. Though I've found that i'm usually playing against the same people everyday.
