There's one thing to want to be immersed and another thing to nitpick stuff that's not been offered a proper explanation in any of the games except Bloodborne since whenever you die or use a Hunter's mark, you "reawaken" and the existence you're in is essentially a series of layered dreams.

Therefore the enemies and the player respawning is explained by the player character just entering the same dream again.

And discussing lore for Dark Souls kind of got pointless when Dark Souls 2 pulled the curtain away from the truth that From doesn't really are about being consistent about the way things work in the Dark Souls universe. They go with gameplay first, and then come up with the lore justification after the fact.

It's funny because the literal only retort console plebs have is MUH HACKERS MUH CE but in reality for anyone who isn't a streamer you almost never run into hackers, even at meta level post-pontiff (where it's generally the worst you can get) it's pretty rare if you're just a normal player. The few you run into you can easily just block on steam and never connect to them again, quick and easy.

Better yet, when you get into the actually good invasion ranges of SL70-80 +8 and below, hackers pretty much don't exist. Maybe 1 in 200 or larger. Even when you run into them, I feel like a lot of console plebs have the misunderstanding that hackers can still get you softbanned by hitting you and jumbling your stats, but that's actually impossible to do now, they patched that out pretty close to release actually a long time ago. Haven't been able to do that in a very long time. Now you can pick up a hacked item or something, sure, but if you simply don't pick up stuff or have backup saves so you can just alt+f4 once you see something is hacked and reload your save, even that isn't a problem.

So worst that happens is 1 in 200+ invasions you run into a guy who is either invincible or 1-shot kills you. It takes a few seconds to either realize he's invincible and crystal out, or just get killed, then you block them and move on to the other 199+ invasions that are fine. All with superior graphics, FPS, short load screen times, etc etc etc.

DS2 matcmaking is total souls earned not SL, so unless you buy the agape ring and slap it on you will keep moving up, it's in your own best interest to spend those souls. Because of this you kind of need to make a dedicated PvP character and have your build planned out 100% not a good midset for exprimenting with new stuff.
Don't worry about going outside are levels too bad, seeing as people who coop will have twice your souls earned (they beat the area by themselves and again as a phantom). Don't be afraid to farm if you want to coop, the higher your SM the more people you get matched with

Leveling up costs start to exponentially increase at around SL200-230, from there on its 300k per level. Just doing the game + DLC with some coop will land you around 180 when you finish the game, more if you do areas more than once.

you can sprint across the bridge, block the attack from the shield hollow, then backstab the first axe hollow (if you're standing just inside the doorway the second axe hollow doesn't come for you, and the firebombs can't reach you)
then dispatch the shield hollow and it's all good from there
for the next part, don't forget to deal with the crossbow guy in the left tower

Could also give another reason to encourage NG+ by seeing reactions to things that normally wouldn't be possible. Same applies to most of the game, weaker enemies are either replaced by stronger ones (veldstads 12 syans is now 2 + 1 dragonrider), or positioned so that you can avoid fighting the horde.

Why is it every other time I'm invading, a blue sentinel arrives? And is it ok for me to drink estus if the blue sentinel does it first? What is the etiquette regarding this. I know people don't generally use estus when invading/being invaded because it makes the fight extremely long and tedious but if I'm 2v1 then I think all's fair at that point. There's a fucking arena mode with the no estus rule if they want to play first to 4 hits they can do it there. Souls has a really unique multiplayer and for some reason some duel tards seem to want to ruin that. But in the end being able to chose is a good thing and so if you don't want to then don't. It's up to you to decide how you want to play the game

Raw DSA is literally good at every single SL in the fucking game. When you get to around SL75+ you either just gouge the fuck out of VIT as well and fast roll with good armor or you dump into getting 60 FAI instead and throw lightning blade on the fucker.

It's one of my favorite weapons in the game because it only requires 18/14 STR/DEX to work, which allows you to do cool shit by dumping into other stats instead (usually some combination of VIG/END/VIT, or getting tears of denial if you want, or at SL55 you can get 40 FAI and use cleric's chime pretty reasonably). It also perfectly lines up with the arbalest, lothric knight shield, and black knight shield in terms of all of those requiring 18 strength as well. Raw RH Halberd is also quite nice, you can even dual wield them with the RHH in the offhand.

I mean you do like 250 or so per R1 when it's buffed with resin/bundles and it's quite fast so...
