HoS was great but I've got some lingering feelings about it that I need to get off my chest:

First, 6 is a weird number of wishes. Although I suppose it could be aligned with the 666 school of numerology.
Second, how could his immortality wish possibly be worded in such a way that Gaunter O'dimm could bend it to make him lose all his emotions and turn his heart to stone?
Third of all, isn't Gaunter O'dimm in breach of contract immediately once Geralt exorcises Iris? Especially since Geralt was acting as O'dimm's surrogate, it would be as if O'dimm killed her himself, despite granting a wish ensuring the contrary.

That's it for the writing, now I'll talk about gameplay. The only problem I find with the gameplay itself is the final mission when you choose to play O'dimm in a battle of wits. I'd have really liked it if CDPR had tried something more experimental, instead of such a corny video-gamey type thing where you run around trying to solve a simple riddle while fighting things.
I'd have done something like
>Don't waste man hours on the O'dimm's mirror world
>Instead call the voice actors in for a week
>Get them to record like 500 different lines
>Make intricate dialogue mazes
>Make 50 different paths to the right answer
>Completely randomize with each load
>Make some contingent on random dialogue choices that you've made throughout HoS
>Making it as hard as possible for online walkthroughs to compile them
>If the player navigates them correctly, they outwit O'dimm
I think that would've been cool. Beating him in a word game like that one Toussaint fist fight mission where you can beat the guy in a rap battle instead of fighting him.

Do the decisions in Witcher 2 regarding the state of the Pontar Valley/Aedirn affect Witcher 3 in any way? Or does Nilfgaard just steamroll the region regardless of choices/events?

I just started Witcher 3 and was surprised the ambassador said Aedirn got conquered and didn't mention Vergen or Saskia at all. I sided with Iorveth and freed Saskia so I thought Vergen would get a mention at least.

Well, then apparently it doesn't work. I never tried it myself but read that some people used that. Make sure you enable it before triggering the quest at all. If the quest is already started it won't work.

You'll get more money if you sell the gear to the appropriate merchants(swords to sword-smith, armor to armor-smiths, general goods to general merchant) but they are mostly poor, with the few exceptions. Crow's Perch is a decent place to sell stuff. Toussaint merchants are rich though and pay good money for pretty much anything.

I'm sure people who aggrandize him as a character are largely influenced by how interesting it is to see a sympathetic questline in an AAA game in favor of a domestic abuser. Playing without exhausting all the side quest atm.

Pretty surprised how you can run through Skellige in an hour basically, if you only do the story.

Really nice of CDPR not to force virtually anything on you and let you do your thing.

I was actually a bit disappointed with how short the main story at Skellige is. While the Novigrad portion dragged a bit too long, it allowed for plenty of opportunity to squeeze in doing various side activities in a way that feels natural. When you arrive to Skellige, there really is not that much to do. You meet Yen, next thing you know you found what happened to Ciri and after that point it's kind of immersion breaking for me to do all the different side quests when Uma is waiting. The only ones that make sense are the ones with Cerys and Hjalmar and I do those before going to Hindarsfjall and even those aren't main quests. I always try to find the right quest order to improve my experience and Skellige makes that a bit hard.

It's just something I kind of obsess over. I don't think most people even care or that I can even use it as a valid complaint on the game. I always try to figure out the right quest order where I can do as much as possible while trying to make it feel natural. I'll give an example:

While I'm in Velen, I never use fast travel(nor anywhere else for that matter) and I travel from location to location using roads. That way, you'll stumble upon villages and settlements naturally. So let's say I'm going to a place x to do a quest. Along the way, I might came across a village. I'll always stop there, do some trading, see what kind of quests are there, visit the tavern, play some gwent, kill a monster for them...it makes sense because Geralt is on the road and things take time to do so it feels natural to rest in a village, maybe earn some money and then move on. It makes the traveling feel better too, like you're actually on a road and things take time.

If I just rush from point A to point B, it feels like I'm playing a game just for completion sake and not like I'm actually immersed in the world.

Would you consider using the Auto-apply oil mod cheating, it's my first playthrough and i want it to stay kind of normal but i'm tired of opening my inventory to apply oil every time.

I'm just gonna use that and objective on map mod i think, unless theres something more that isn't on the pastebin?
