So 1 Uplift: +2.5% happiness
2 Uplifts: another +2.5% happiness
3 Uplifts: 5% happiness

>>
>>180682789

Anon. Supress xenophobic and endorse militarist. PLace at least 5 defensive armies in every xeno planet and one decent assault on stand by.

Xenophobic slavery sucks. You really want caste which makes xenophobe obsolete. Also your fleet is crap.
>>
>>180682789
>also there's some dimensional horro in my borders that the curators say I might be able to beat
With 20-25k fleet power, "might" is the important word. Get 30k-35k and make sure your fleet drops right on top of the horror. It's one of the nastiest things in the galaxy. You'll still take casualties because the horror just deletes ships on sight and it can see the whole system. Thankfully it's not one of the mobile monsters.

Don't go over 39k fleet strength because that might wake up the fallen empire and who knows what they might do.
>>
>>180683296

Also reform the government to imperial authority once the nigger gets out so you gain attraction to authoritarian.
>>
>>180682789
How many worlds and how many pops do you have?

Show to me your leaders.

Build up to your Naval Capacity.

Do you have any empire uniques that you can build on earth? Maybe a tech that you finished that you forgot about? because I totally did not forget to build the Research Initiative when I got it in my game

I had two randomly generated hiveminds that spawned next to each other. Huge 1000 star galaxy, 30 empires, 4 fallen empires, 6 advanced empires, 0.25 habitable planet modifier, aggressive AI.

Was an interesting game.
>>
>>180683445

Hes probably enslaving every xeno working at research or energy production. He needs to free them and eat the malus so he can benefit from authoritarian slavery. In other words he needs their rights to be set to caste system (residence). It will cause a stir, therefore he needs armies on the ground to shut them up.
>>

Are you sure that species on residence is not in chains? If not remain as you are.

>>180682789
That button below just above the tabs. Careful. You said you kicked one race and remained with another one. If theres to few of them just remain as you are. I was assuming you were in control of a significative number of xenos and thats when authoritarian slavery (called caste) starts to be useful because the normal one from xenophobic just enslaves everyone which means the ones at energy tiles will produce less 33% and research will have a 75% penalty if they are in chains. When you release them though theres a temporary malus that makes them mad but it eventually disappears over time.

Remain as you are. You have at least droids or synths already anyway....

Seemed like I couldn't find anomalies within foreign empires.

Then I tried systems that I hadn't surveyed, but were in my empire, like my borders had pushed into a fallen empire, there I found anomalies pretty quick.

Also console integrated another empire and started surveying within that empire and I found anomalies.

Oh, that's just an upgrade from basic.
There are three tiers of drainers that increase your essence income with them. You get them from the science tree.
In addition they all cost exactly the same industry and none of them cost any strategic resources.
My current fleet of T2 leechers at 10 CP drains 1500 essence a turn.
You can imagine what that does to enemy systems.

Fanatic Xenophobe, Authoritarians
Extremely Adaptive & Strong (or Rapid Breeders, your choice anon)
Mining & Slave Guilds

Unity 1 - Expansion then Master of Nature.
Unity 2 - Supremacy then Interstellar Dominion.
Note: Take the Supremacy starter as your second pick, then go back to finishing Expansion.

Use caste system to enslave everyone working farms or mines without having to enslave energy or scientists.

Make sure you pick the Galactic Ambitions and Genome Mapping tech as soon as they show up.

Survey every system with a planet, blob out hard. Once you're locked in by opposition expansion, fill in the less useful planets and grow your economy. Pick off shitty empires to annex planets where possible, you'll pretty quickly snowball beyond any AI empire's ability to stop you.

If you've got a pure slavery colonization idea that doesn't hamstring early development I'd love to hear it, because typically you need at least 2 or 3 diversified colonies to get all your yields over critical mass before you can start snowballing slaves.
I guess a very fortunate start with tons of orbital Credit mines could get a Mineral planet kickstarted, but that's just relying on good spawning and even then your initial science generation is going to be pretty shit.

Well that and the small insignificant problem of requiring war to colonise shit. But sure, keep on bitching how OP race that can barely expand untill the very late game is super OP. Meanwihle riftborn will put 20 colonies in that time with no drawbacks other than coloniser costs and cravers will casually consume more systems than vodyani can dream to colonise.

But no, keep on bitching about how the only tall faction actually has some tall benefits.
>>
>>180719684
You do not even require war to take systems from other empires, let alone to just colonize. You will make them angry, sure, but you can leech and expand without declaring war at all. If the AI was good, you would lose the moment it spawned next to you and decided to ark rush you without there even being a war declaration.
>>
>>180719932
If you try to leech a major in MP, most will treat it same as any declaration of war. Given that arks are paper tigers that can be killed with a proper 7 ship fleet if left undefended you better be ready for war if you want to munch off of a major. Minors on the other hand generate so little food that if you put more than one leech on them you will quickly deplete your food source, getting at most couple arks out of them.

>ark rush you without there even being a war declaration.
Last time a player Ark rushed me he lost more than one Ark.

Ark rushes are a strategy that works wonders agaisnt AI and/or newbies, but they are very easy to deflect unless they come with a proper fleet attached. You can't use your 1st ark to rush, you will go bankrupt on maintenence. You can do it with your second, but good luck having any escort for that with vodyani early game being slow it is. It could work if you are up close and personal, sure, or it can end your game right then and there. And at three you better believe there is a defence fleet ready.

>>
>>180721978
Mate, if you think you can unilaterally declare what is and isn't relevant in a game balance discussion on a basket weaving forum, you are so high up your own ass you need a flashlight to see shit.

As I said, vodyani need war to colonise shit. You are yet to present any coherent reasoning on why they don't other than "you don't need to technically declare war". Which is an irrelevant technicality at best. You still have to protect your leechers. You still have to engage/run around enemy fleets, you still have to spend all your production on boats. And that's even if you decide that you don't want to mess with majors, because pirates are a thing.
>>
>>180722326
>I am not very smart
>>
>>180719684
>Meanwihle riftborn will put 20 colonies in that time
They still need to build colon ships to do that, and you might get a lot of colonies only if other players decide to let you do it
>>
>>180722563
Sure, but the argument to begin with was that Vodyani are OP because their colonial game is too strong. I just pointed out that there are plenty others who have way, way better opportunities when expanding.

>>180722636
>>180722326

No the argument was that they have retarded FIDIS bonuses which combined with the AIs bonuses on Endless should make them really strong, but it doesn;t because the AI is garbage.

You, however, decided to go on the defensive and explain how weak they are because they need to survive the early game before they get the +4 FIDIS/hero level skill and start shitting out arks and pop, while the early game is perfectly easy to survive granted you have just one (1) minor civilization to leech from to make sure you can get an ark or two.

The moment you get your second ark pirates are completely irrelevant so I am not sure why you would ever even bring them up. No factions do not instantly declare war if you start leeching from them, they might immediately send some ships to deal with your leechers or they might not, it depends on the faction and what they are doing, but if they don;t you basically achieved your goal with your leechers there to begin with.Of course you cant leave them there for 20 turns. all you need is 3-4 at the start.

Mechanic is meh, mostly vanilla playstyle. Haven't done the quest, but it's about being juggling factions of Space Venice/Mafia.

Mechanic is quite something, it isn't so much strong or weak, simply different. Quest is about chosing between Light and Fire, i.e. peace and war. If you like new age hippy crap, you'll like it - otherwise - not.it's not bad per se, just requires certain tastes.

Welcome to the most OP colonisers in the game. Building your pops make colonisation very different, but very fun, once you get a hang of it. Singularities can do some fancy shit, tho I'm yet to convince myself that it's worth researching advanced ones. Hardly, Unfallen are interesting because they're basically a choice between extreme conservationism (everything must be preserved) and managed conservationism (sometimes you need to cull to protect). He gets them back without destroying the galaxy and everyone in it, therefore the process itself was not what he was referring to in his speech.

Besides I do not see how it makes it clear that the endless were in the wrong in any way. They killed them all to use their corpses as spacedrugs, sure, but usually these stories end up with the ancient race we try to bring back being even worse and there being a reason for them to get wiped out.
>>
>>180732105
It's still new age hippy crap, mate. Just not poorly written. The story is still about space trees trying to bring peace to the galaxy. No ammont of good writing will make it not new age.

Age of Wonders 1 is technically not a 4x, my first impression of it was that it was like a mix between Warlords and homm.

AoW2 and AoW3 count as 4xes, and make the master of magic connection more apparent.

Focused around combat more, and it has a tactical combat screen unlike most 4x games

Overland terrain, research progression, combat, heroes are all different to civ.
City management is somewhat similar, but not really.

Different strokes, as I said.

Theres one thing im in doubt. The slaving guilds are really nice to squeeze new conquered pops out of minerals but maybe nationalistic zeal might not be that bad. I dont know if the extra border is calculated over the total you already have or the very base value. IF its the former than it would be huge (someone help me on this one pls).

>>
>>180749983
I don't really know what I need, honestly. I can do okay against AI, but that's mostly because I know how to exploit it.
For example, I know the AI never really uses their planes, so in all my games, I build a shitload of interceptors and bombers, and I tell them to patrol between my base and the AI's base, to protect myself from scouting.

It works against the AI because I spam interceptors, but a human player would just bring anti-air units and wipe them.
>>
>>180750184
Mobile units are almost always better than static units, and a patrol of interceptors around your important areas is always good. You can always manually select the interceptors to go somewhere and patrol around an area, but a general rule of thumb is to get air superiority fighters as soon as possible for air domination

unless you're aeon, in which case it's a mixture of ASF and restorers, because those things are fucking brutal IIRC

I like Civ V, which is the only Civ game I've played. I've played a couple other 4X games like EL and Age of Wonders and Stellaris, plus lots of RTS games, a bit of grand strategy.

>They are good against single targets, but then you have ~100 of gunships coming I'd prefer T2 2bh.
This is why I love Supreme Commander, the higher-tier units don't replace the low-tier units, they just complement them.

Also, I watched a few replays of FAF, couldn't see any big difference with FA.

Well fuck. I was afraid of that. You gotta give it to EL, if it wants you to go to war, it will find a way.

So anons. See that orange blob at the buttom of the screen? That's Impossible difficulty necrophage with twice my score. I think we are about on par in tech. I have assimilated sisters, long dreading this war, but I need advice. I'm haven't played EL in a while and I remember fuckall about fighting necro, other than that you need sisters. Alliance is a non starter, cultists are too weak, the only people worth talking about is Ardent, but they are on the wrong continent.

What do?

I haven't played EL in a while but here's what I remember:

Their main damage is entirely melee and comes from disease damage, which goes through defense. Sisters are strong because they can either make allies disease immune or are immune themselves, don't remember which.
So actually, if you have pic related assimilated (as you should jesus christ you're vaulters strategic resources are everything), you'd be pretty well off.
If you can't get disease immunity on your units go for HP since while it goes through defense, last time I checked the damage was flat.
Necro Infantry and Flying units go by that rule. If you can get some chain lightning units to help out with waveclearing since they're all melee and have a high chance to be bunched up.

The other scary thing about necros is, of course, the Proliferator. Not that great themselves but lose even ONE battle against an army with even one of them and things can start getting out of hand.
I know you have a lot of border space to guard and necros definitely are going to swarm you, BUT you need to keep your armies in quality over quantity, because if you start producing cheap units to try and stop them and they have proliferators you'll just be making even more armies you have to kill. Do not underestimate what a swarm of those zombie bugs can do.
Use only one or two armies for defense and keep the rest invading.

Fortunately you're vaulters, which means as long as you're aware enough you can definitely defend with a limited force if you need to, thanks to teleportation.

That's about all I remember. Hope at least some of it helped and good luck.

What's the reasoning for this?
Forests and Stone just not providing a large benefit? I get Chopping forested hills to allow for actual buildings is just a freebie.
I can't think of anything that really benefits from Stone adjacencies though, I guess Quarries are not that important.

Once you hit Apprenticeship mines are better or equal than quarries till the really late game, you're better off chopping for the production bonus as it'll help more than the eventual +1 gold

the stone hills is debatable, not gonna go in details right now, but it's not a huge deal anyway.

Tiles where you'll place a district/wonder
Tiles that will grant you a farming triangle/diamond

>>
>>180768309
just to expand:

you said, better or equal; but until you get apprenticeship, the mine is actually worse than the quarry. Then the mine gets equal to the quarry.
Immediately after that, you get banking, which makes the quarry slightly better again.

Only at industrialization the mine gets better than the quarry, and that lasts only until rocketry:

max quarry on hills = +1 from hill, +1 from stone, +1 from quarry, +1 from rocketry =4prod +1gold from banking;

max mine on hills = +1 from hill, +1 from mine +1 from apprenticeship +1 from industrialization =4prod+0gold

i know, but the important part is that they aren't actually that negatively affected by a lack of a naval presence; they have the ability to ignore it, which is very important if you're in a game where cultists, wild walkers, or the ever-dreadful morgawr are on the coastline and muscling you out of the waters

Apprenticeship comes really early and the one time production boost of chopping will generally provide the difference anyway. Rocketry comes once you've won the game and are end turning till victory while industrialisation comes while the game may still be undecided. The one gold from banking isn't important either.

The lump sum of chopping is really valuable in the early game too.

Mines get +1 Prod from a Medieval tech (Apprenticeship) and also fuel the Eureka for it.
Stone Quarries don't get that +1 Prod until Rocketry, which is Atomic era and instead gets +1 Gold.
>>
>>180768470
thanks luv
>>
>>180769165
the process still costs you 2 worker charges. "but with the production boost you can get a new worker !" yeah, in that case, the production boost wasn't needed in the first place, it only made the cost of your next workers higher.

And about "X tech comes early, X tech comes late" - this depends heavily on what tech you're beelining, which depends heavily on your civ (and abit on other parameters ofc)

Personally, it's something I would consider if I'm really needing the production boost for something specific, like a wonder, or very urgent walls, or something like that, but never use it as a "general rule of thumb"
>>
>>180769678
You're never going to get rocketry at a time when it matters and you're always going to want apprenticeship early because production is king.
>>
>>180769356
yes but the +prod from apprenticeship only makes the mine EQUAL to the quarry, since the stone provide +1prod naturally.
the +1 gold from banking (which is literally the next tech after apprenticeship) makes the quarry superior again, until industrialization

+1 Gold is not and never will be equal to +1 Prod. Besides, opportunity cost factors in, you can chop Stone and then build another Improvement on that hill other than a Quarry that will more than make up for the Quarry bonuses, besides Luxury resource Quarries.
>>

>>
>>180770829

Except it does not, because +1 Gold on Hex from a Quarry is not as good as +1 Production on Hex from a Mine.
>>
>>180771210
alright, let's do some math again:

Hill+Stone+Quarry=3prod (+1gold from banking)
Hill+mine+apprenticeship=3prod (+0gold)

>>180771583

>>
>>180778464
Romans, early cities on coasts.
I agree that they're kinda dumb because of the placement restrictions and all-or-nothing benefit. Aqueducts should have been minor improvements like Roads, and you'd get a few units of housing per completed connection. Make them also the quickest way to get early Bridges, and a bonus to Mines and Quarries they pass through.

Teddy Roosevelt being in the game with NO CANALS is just fucking unacceptable.
>>
>>180778660
They get -5 or 10% happiness for having been enslaved, but they become happier when they stop being slaves.

Hilariously enough, I've had several slaves join the pro slavery authoritarian faction unpon being freed.

Depends on the attraction. At the extreme if you are fanatic with imperial authority and the pop is decadent theres a huge pull. Slaves however usually have a tendency to go egalitarian still but thats a minor concern.
>>
>>180779182
You should be able to burn Builders to migrate Cattle, Horses and Sheep by one tile per construction charge imo.
>>
>>180779294
That happens some times, but then there's always another slave ready to switch places.

I just cycle through slaves until everyone's happy or a slave.
>>

Romans don't build aqueducts.
Cities on coasts usually already give up on a lot of tiles simply by being close to water, is it really worth it giving up on yet another tile for an aqueduct?

As long as unrest doesnt get higher than 30 or so you are fine. It might be better just to deploy a few defensive armies.

Hurr hurr you know what I meant
But yeah I agree that for everyone else, aqueducts are rarely very useful. Which is pretty big oversight on Firaxis' part considering how monumentally important they were in the development of almost every early civilization

But then, the Egyptians can also build Granaries so what do I know lmao
>>
>>180778936
The issue with aqeuducts is they're permanent and don't improve at all, they're great in the early game if you want to settle somewhere a bit funny but once +4 housing stops being worth an entire tile you're stuck with them

>no retarded tech scaling
>not 1UPT; the AI cannot fucking deal with 1UPT, and a consequence of 1UPT is that it takes almost as long to build two archers as it does to research Machinery and obselete them entirely, which is obviously bullshit
>commerce instead of just gold; sliders gave you a way to control what you cared about at the time and made more sense in general
>diplomacy made more sense, despite the AI spamming DUDE GIB FREE TECH LMAO at you in 4
>the AI in general wasn't as retarded and wasn't as blatant with its cheating
>roads can actually be built unlike in V where the optimal roadmap is "build to resources and to inland cities, nowhere else because pls gib gold"
>non-custom religions; I don't like them, they feel too gamey, even if the idea of build-your-own-religion sounds nice
>civics were civics and not what amounted to worldviews; I don't particularly mind the idea of having worldview-civics, but they're not governments
>trade was not retarded
>espionage was not retarded
>borders followed rivers

That's all I can think of here. On the flipside, Civ V did well in:
>great writers and artists who are now useful beyond simply culturebombing which was always fucking stupid
>culture victory's rework made sense - instead of being the first to pierce some arbitrary threshold of 'three cities at legendary', you were the one who made everyone wear your blue jeans, or white togas, or pink kimonos
>hexagons, which are blatantly superior to squares, if for no other reason than because you are able to move half again as far under squares.
>aesthetics and strategic view
>ranged combat was, well, ranged, instead of being only first-strikes, although that also makes sense because Civ IV was about entire masses of units.

1UPT makes the AI even more ineffective, makes production advantages nearly meaningless because you only need ten units to steamroller anyone, and makes production scaling against units wonky as shit. There is no advantage to 1UPT besides """"""""tactical"""""""" gameplay, but firstly Civilization is not tactical, it is strategic, and secondly it isn't even tactical, it just makes people with a boner for "muh sparta" happy when it's nonsensical hogwash. It's not as if Civilization IV had no ways of dealing with deathstacks or that they were always more effective; while attrition might've been nice, it certainly wasn't always required.

All the late era Egyptian leaders were Greek to a degree you mong. They were literally titled the Ptolemaic Egyptians.

Would be nice if there were an alternate Egypt ruler that had the Building focus while Cleopatra had more of a diplo/espionage bonus. It is kind of silly to see Cleopatra building Sphinxes and rushing Wonders.
>>
>>180792997
I don't like it at all. I was perfectly fine with doomstacks as long as they had obvious failings; in Civilization IV, the failing was collateral damage, which wasn't at all negligible but in my opinion not quite enough. A lot of mods added encirclement, meaning a doomstack could be easily eating a -40% combat bonus from getting encircled. If attrition / supply was also a thing, it would be more or less perfect.

>>180793423
I don't see the issue here, Catherine wasn't Russia, Richard wasn't English, Kublai wasn't Chinese, Alexander wasn't Greek. The actual argument against Cleopatra was how she is worthy of note as the last Pharoh of Egypt, aka the one who fucked up and got Egypt fucking annexed. It's like putting Nicky II as the leader of Tsarist Russia.

So do i need to somehow combine conquest with religion to get a religious victory? I don't see how I can really take over 60% of each nation's cities even in a tiny game given the relatively limited faith I have before they'd go to war and waste my religious units.

do i just need to git gud or something? my plan was to build a ton of everything, and just set them up for a mass raid on 2 of the other civs, I already have america converted.

I also think this is the most wonders I've ever gotten, have the +4 faith from wonders naturally.

I'm curious, have you ever played SMAC? I compare everything to SMAC and ES2 is very lacking in the tech-lore department. Even Civ does better.
>>
>>180790564
More Senator Armstrong (He played college ball, you know), but yes.
>>
>>180822180
no that's a little before my time. There's not much bulk to the descriptions but I find their creativity in the future of technology intriguing.
>>
>>180822180
I think Endless games and SMAC have fundamentally different approach to scientific, and other lore. You could say that SMAC is hard sf, while Endless is soft, but that's not exactly the core dichotomy.

Endles games use technological and cultural description to make the world authors envisioned believable, while sprinkling in some snark for fun and profit.

SMAC on the other hand worked really hard to develop modern political and scientific trends, and advance them forward to their logical extreme, or mayhaps logical destinations. And used that extrapolation to construct the world to which writers adapted.

So I don't think they can be meaningfully compared since they clearly operate with a different purpose in mind.

Compare Unfallen with SMACX factions, one was created first trough what amounts to popular vote, and then written into the product. While other are simply logical continuations/variations of respective faction's ideologies.

Tho not a perfect distinction thanks to pirate faction in SMACX, it still is useful to see their complitely different approaches, and can clearly explain why Endless universe technology is not defined to the same degree as SMAC.

I do agree that the approaches are different but I am firmly of the opinion that the SMAC one was superior.

Superior in the sense of the emotional impact it has and how it sticks in your mind. People who have played SMAC have memorized some lore snippets because they are very emotive. What do the Endless games have? The faction trailers are the strongest and most affective parts of the lore, everything else is mediocre.

Even though it's consistent, it was pretty fun because I had to fight off neighboring Necrophages who had 3 times my army at some point and someone was about to get econ victory while I was getting last techs.
AI just floods the market with resources on endless, and if someone gets too good of a start and starts dominating it's usually impossible to stop them.

With a high enough visibility level (not sure which but it's between open and secret), you can pinpoint the exact moment a wonder start getting built. Obviously having voice acting on tech and secret projects, project videos, and especially incorporating faction leaders or agenda into tech and project descriptions forms more memorable experience. Just remember "Please don't go. The drones need you, they look up to you." Phrases like that get stuck in your head as well as project quotes mainly because they were voice acted. ES lacks in both producing strong lines and delivering them.
And overall I think flavor text leaves more impact because it's more personalized, like base improvements mention impact on the lives of the citizens, there is often a snippet on the tech from perspective of a worker or soldier, or faction leader. It gets the player more involved than just dry description.
The story quest is the prime example of that, in Endless games being told from a perspective of a specific character and it's the most memorable part of lore because of it. In ES2 it also has a noticeable impact on gameplay, while story intermissions in SMAC don't really translate to much in game, usually only triggering some fungus growth. But that's the only thing I can commend ES2 on.

>mediocre
I wouldn't be throwing that word around in this day and age. EL and ES2 lore is quite high quality, it's just have different strengths and delivery compared to SMAC.
>The faction trailers are the strongest and most affective parts of the lore, everything else is mediocre.
Not at all, trailers, while decent, are not the meat of the lore. Faction quests are.

EL/ES2 doesn't take it's tech seriously, doesn't voice over it at all, why? Because this is a mechanics first game with pacing to allow for multiplayer matches and because good VO is expensive. But me thinks thy wouldni't v/o it even if they had all the money in the world, even pic related is mostly there so you can convert food to dust, not to investigate the ethical implication of for profit genocide .

What they do in more serious and thoughtful tone is Faction quests. These are by far better than similar screens from SMAC, because they too serve a different purpose. In smac, they are there to help along immersion from techs, in EL/ES2 it's to give you insight into the societies you are leading, something that techs for the most part aren't focused on in EL/ES2, but are in SMAC.

As I said, I think that any direct comparison would be highly subjective and not at all reflective of quality of either title, or it's lore, simply because it's like comparing a drama to a comedy and trying to figure out which has better writing of the two.
>>
Civ VI or ES2?
>>
>>180827879
I'd argue that EL does a better job than ES2.

The launch trailers and the entire narrative of Auriga being alive is brilliant. Actually, I'm starting to wonder if the people that do the trailers and faction introductions are the same ones working on the tech blurbs. Doesn't really feel like it.

they are special because they were the first faction ever to reach the stars though with the lost it's unsure if this is still true, giving the three species of tor all the time in the universe to expand across literally the entire galaxy and research everything

eventually they met the lost, who they blew up to get their hands on dust; this caused pretty much every facet of torian society to jump lightyears ahead

some scientists tinkering with dust then discovered the means to upload your consciousness into the substance; naturally this caused a cultural shift in torian society, marking the point where they would be officially endless and where the virtual and concrete factions arose

over a couple centuries, relationships between the two groups worsened and worsened due to budget constraints, ideological differences, and general animosity; this eventually bloomed into the dust wars, exterminating pretty much all the endless and leaving behind a galaxy full of ruins and genetically engineered test subjects and servants to crawl out of the rubble
>>
>>180829501
Tough choice. Both are buggy and incomplete games in desperate need of DLC.

Odds are that ES2 will eventually become complete. While the "2 expansions will make Civ good" meme refuses to die, BE showed that Civ games nowadays will NOT be fixed.

So, do you like sci-fi or semi-historical games? That's the real question.

Going by literally every scifi story who has used the plot line before, I'm going to go out on a limb and say the Lost were infinitely worse than the Endless.

Every single time a 'precursor rival' species comes back from nothing, it is because they are evil as fuck. Them referring to themselves as GODS in the trailer just made it obvious.

Don't listen to those retards

In the book, the Bugs are not pacifists. They are intelligent and capable of communicating with other species (namely, the Skinnies) which they use strategically to set up a joint war with the humans.
While MOST of the Bugs are Workers and thereby harmless, the Warrior caste can and will fuck you up.
Also, the Workers are capable of creating (or possibly scavenging, its not explicitly said they build them) and maintaining industry including spaceflight vehicles. So while exactly how Buenos Aires got smeared isn't made clear, its completely believable that the Bugs engineered a trans-stellar weapon.

The Japanese OVA even goes so far as to show them using a bioweapon of sorts, which is a neat take on the idea, especially since the Bugs in the OVA are very different.

I'm soon to reach the 400 pop mark with only about 8 actual planets and the rest being habitats that I just keep cramming in everywhere I can fit them, and got the first ring world section about done.
