What attribute in CoP weapon statistics controls the way a weapon will kick when fired? Specifically the actual entries in the weapon config/upgrade config.

His explanation is pretty close but slightly off
Quick rundown:

Guns with use_aim_bullet = true can fire 'super bullets'. Super bullets can only be fired once per time_to_aim (seconds). The cooldown is reset every time you fire. So even if you spray for several seconds you'll only get one super bullet at the beginning.
Bones in damage sections can have an optional fourth parameter. Let's call these 'weak bones'. In vanilla this is just head bones, and about half the mutants don't have any at all.
Super bullet vs normal bone: normal damage
Normal bullet vs weak bone: normal damage
Super bullet vs weak bone: damage uses the special fourth value instead

SoC: All weapons have super bullets
Stalkers take 5x damage (normally 2x since it's a head bone)
Mutants take 10x damage (normally 2x)
CS: All weapons except PKM and Gauss have super bullets
Stalkers have weak head bones, but the 4th value is the same as the normal one (3x)
Mutants still 10x
CoP: Only PB and Knife have super bullets
Stalkers have lower weak multipliers than normal ones! (3x vs 4x)
Mutants still 10x

Yes and no. The super bullet and it's multipliers are kinda needed if you want to have any amount of sneak killing done.

Becaue of the complex way difficulty and npc armor and immunities work, you could very well end up with a weapon where even a headshot would not result in a kill.

Realistic to an extent, but frustrating from a more causal gameplay perspective.

With the super bullet system in place, the kill is guaranteed if the first well aimed shot connects.

Has anyone figured out a fix for the slow performance degradation when playing CoC?
I start at like 120 fps and it slowly drops. I usually pull the plug when it starts getting noticeable at about 40, then restarting gives me full performance again.

STALKER: SoC sat unplayed on my desktop for about half a year before I finally decided to play it a few days ago. I'm playing on Master difficulty without mods, as it says I should in the stickies. It's far more difficult than any other shooter I've played, but also more fun and rewarding than I'd expect. There are just a few things that infuriate me. For one, I can't stand traveling through levels a second or third time, particularly Garbage, because I'm running into enemies that should be dead, or going through the same tasks I've already completed, like defending the warehouse or helping Seb in the wrecker yard. I guess this is just a feature of the game, but sometimes I just want to go about my business and not have to waste ammo on goons. I'm curious, are there any Mods that address this, or am I just being a big pussy?

Speaking of Mods, every review I read for a compilation seems to state how broken enemy AI is. Stuff like bad guys shooting through walls, or other immersion breaking behavior appears common. I used to play DayZ quite a lot, and one thing I liked about it was having to find magazines for specific guns, loading those magazines, and managing specific parts of your loadout, like backpacks, plate carriers, boots, etc. I know STALKER isn't made for that degree of simulation, and I've read a few mods that do something like that, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to post here and see what you veterans have to say.

fixed a bunch of those thypes of errors and it eventually said can't find sun_shafts in [mod_01]

anyways apparently having sun_shafts and other parameters is a requirement of 1.0006, but not 1.0004, so wondering what the fuck is wrong.

I bought the bundle on sale and I decided to replay SoC again
I started off and after the first mission I went to the south to the military base and caught the attention of the military there
I forgot about this, and I ran off to the starting base area.
20-something military guys followed me and engaged with all the ill-equipped neutral stalkers in the base.
Everyone died, and I had to crawl around grabbing everyone's pistol ammo and shotgun ammo, and through point-blank shots and knife stabs I killed like 10 soldiers
