Not at all. I have no clue what's going on. I'm just sailing around, and recruiting. Thankfully, I ran Luka through Smooth Talker and so I have the skill which just gives +5 affection when Talking, and I don't need to mess around with the whole selection of what to say.

Also, have a skill which triples the recruit rate. Some of these are annoying to get.

I am also noting where medals are located, just out of curiosity.

That ability in question is Magic Converter (-50% ATT & DEF, +50% MAG & WILL) along with an accessory which does the same thing. In Part 1, they only affected base stats, and then equipment just went over that. In Part 2, they clearly apply after equipment and everything else.

Nearly 2k WILL is tremendously powerful with Grand Cross, to the tune of nearly 50,000 damage to everything. Including the boss mentioned above, when buffed.

What apparently is supposed to happen is when you return, you can grab a white flag in the room above her. No clue what it does. She seems like just an optional superfight. I would not have managed without excessive use of Vicarious Clara/Group Defense, along with Will + Holy Martyr triggering repeatedly. Also, absurdly tricked out Battle Masters, a Kitsune Ninja, and Insect Pope.

Alice the first time. Once you're done go with Ilias for New Game+. Alice is rather less interesting and has less to say, but also teaches you stronger skills, though those skills would generally be obsolete if you waited to get them during New Game+.

Once you finish the game, you can put on a no-encounter item and blow through New Game+ in a short period of time and have a good save set up for part 2.

That's an Insect Arachne, job Pope, with the best WILL equipment, abusing an ability and equipment which together gives her a 4x WILL stat. Unfortunately, it also means she's sitting at 1/4x DEF, which is pretty bad for a very slow main healer.

That is certainly not the stats you should expect, although I am noticing that my Level ~35 twinked out party is sitting at 400-600 in their important stats. (Just Part 1 endgame equipment, though. No dungeon equipment from Part 1.)

I don't know if this has been posted yet but if anyone who don't want to go through the story.

Paradox 2 has a ton of good stuff. It also multiple pieces of "art" that top anything else in the series for horror. Delphinus is back at it again along with this new bug artist.

Switch jobs ASAP. You will automatically max out both Warrior and Apprentice Hero once you unlock Hero (and switch into that class) so change jobs as soon as you can.

What you want to switch into depends on what you want to do. If you're looking at Battle Master, then Martial Artist is what you want. Soldier isn't a bad idea, especially with the Soldier/Palace Guard skills and the stat boost from Hero of Justice, but you probably won't focus on those much. Priest is a pretty good idea, since most of Luka's advanced races have access to White Magic.

Hunter and Thief aren't bad ideas, either. Hunter gives a recruit bonus, and it is required for the Cupid race. Thief gives you Lockpick. Plus, both lead into Adventurer with its nice Geyser skill.

Informant/Smooth Talker is very nice for recruiting, although you should know that it's a terrible combat class and mainly used for tossing stun and other status at enemies.

I have a question. Is anybody plaything through Part 2 who didn't horribly overpower their team in Part 1? Because I'm noticing that a lot of fights are quite easy, but that's because I have a team which tore the final boss of pt1 apart in two rounds. I'm wondering how a slightly less absurd team has managed.

Pretty mild spoilers.
During the first campfire scene, Sonya talks about the adventure Marcellus, Lazarus, Karen, and Merlin went on, wondering if they also traveled down and camped on the same road.
Then she mentions how Lazarus hasn't explained any real details about what the original party did, presumably because it would bring up bad memories of his arm getting ruined.
Then the topic goes to the subject of that whole Pope assassination attempt and shady stuff surrounding Lazarus.
Luka can give a "We just have to trust in him" or "Honestly, he's pretty suspicious" answer. I haven't picked either yet.

The scene with the Pocket Castle never happens, so you can't access it outside of special occasions.
Strangely this was accounted for, as when you exceed eight party members the maid will appear in Ilias Temple next to the head priest and allow you to manage your party from there, though you still can't access the castle itself.

Characters are assigned names when you get them, and they are tied to the save file. So if you transferred your english save file over to this game, all the old characters will have their english names while the new characters have japanese names. Chiitrans works well enough for me. The gist of what's going on can be understood.
However it's prone to crashing(note that this usually doesn't crash the game itself), especially during things like browsing all the save files.
Parsing through and piecing together the garbled text isn't nearly as comfy as reading a proper translation either. Honestly it's a little mentally exhausting.

The "Library (Enemy)" script for part 1 had this gigantic list of possible encounters followed by an equally gigantic list of profiles with corresponding IDs. All of those profiles matched the ones from the VN word for word. The IDs for the profiles kept jumping around so I surmised that the missing profiles are for new monsters and proceeded to match the profile IDs with the encounter IDs to pinpoint when we'd fight (and presumably recruit) someone and where. Further down the encounter list I found familiar locations suffixed with odd stuff like "heaven" and "hell/hades", implying further dimension travel beyond mere parallel worlds. The IDs went into the upper 700s.

Then part 2 came along and shat all over it. Long story short, characters like Eden and the Cirque du Croix that I thought were slated for part 3 ultimately show up here as potential party members, dozens of encounter IDs got shuffled all over the place, and the placeholder data got wiped. Sphinx was buffed up. She's at 490k hp now. My juiced up on jobs and LoC items party still makes short work of her in just a few turns anyway. 2.1k Magic Sylph and 1k Attack Luka are too much for anything to handle. Not sure if you can recruit her from the get go in Part 2, but it doesn't seem like the case.
