In P3, do they really? A lot of the characters felt pretty static until the end of the game and then they got a few days in the spotlight. Junpei is different but how much you like him may depend on how much you're willing to deal with him up front.

Every Persona protagonist ends up loved pretty much all the time by their casts. They're mostly silent protagonists. It comes with the territory. But other than Chie and Yosuke, Yu still had to earn their trust first.

I don't forget that, it just never really impressed me. Maybe it's because a lot of it felt very much like I was just being told about it. Akihiko spent days training to punch things because he couldn't save a sister we never met and never see even in a flashback and after Shinji dies he still trains all the time but makes comments about school and the future. I just never felt like it made as much on an impact on me outside the funeral scene, or at least as much as you'd expect how people build it up.

There's several hints in the gameplay alone, like an unfinished auto-advancing link. And then you never see the place covered in fog from your dreams. Or where you got your power from. And the entire theme of the game being to seek out the whole truth even when easy answers are in front of you.

FF-XV was only bad because it has Season Pass cancer and was announced like 6 years before anybody actually started working on it. It's otherwise a damn good game. If the FF-7 remake and KH3 end up being actually good then SE will be doing pretty alright in my book.

Yosuke's SLink was pretty good, and Ai's is generally considered one of the better SLinks in the franchise if I recall. Death and Devil were also pretty decent in that game as well.
