The trick is to not use ranged weapons at all so you don't feel tempted to be a stealth archer, and stealth melee gameplay was better in Oblivion so that makes me not want to use any stealth at all then.

Hey guys my oblivion modding spree is almost done, the last touch is also the most confusing one.

I have JoyToKey for controller use, which works great! But I also wanted to get a borderless window going on, so I installed GameCompanion 2.4. It seems however that JoyToKey doesn't work with GameCompanion 2.4 (or windowed mode at all for whatever reason.)

Anyone have any ideas/work arounds? Kind of an obscure question

I'm getting weird tearing issues at the front and back of skirts with certain robes and dresses when female characters wearing them walk. I noticed them with Realistic animation Project active, but they're still there when I deactivate this. Honestly, OBGE is probably better than Oblivion Reloaded at this point. Reloaded throws in a lot of other non-graphical features which just end up being frustrating. If you set Ugrids to 7, I've heard you can't even change it back by switching to 5 and starting a new game. If so, how do you revert your game back to 5? Delete everything vanilla and re-install?

Whoever told you that is a fucking liar. If you set ugrids to 5 (also make sure you set your uexterior cell buffer back to 36) and start a new game, it works just fine. If it doesn't, it's possible that some shitty mod is applying a tweak that forces ugrids to 7 (honestly I've never heard of a mod doing this, but it's not impossible) or your game is using settings from a different .ini file because your paths are fucked (I know SSE likes to ignore the Mod Organizer .ini file and use the one in My Documents/My Games/Skyrim for example).

No, you always have to change both of them. If your ugrids is 5, you need the buffer at 36, if your ugrids is 7, you need it at 64. You shouldn't ever set it higher than 7, but seriously don't even fucking bother. It should ALWAYS be left at the default. Just use DynDOLOD for better distant terrain instead. The ugrids tweak is essentially obsolete; you will have better performance and stability with the default values.

I always though Haishao's images were good. She managed to deepen the colors while still making everything look distinct and clear and the AO perfectly compliemented the art style of the game. It's just an improvement over the vanilla art style.

ENB can be really good for screenshots but it almost always changes the overall art style of the game which isn't what I'm into. I think the only time I ever change the shading style of a game with mods is when it's either devoid of color(Dark Souls 3 or Dragons Dogma) or it's just straight ugly(Skyrim). I think graphics mods should just be straight improvements over vanilla.

I don't like a lot of the more modern texture packs for Oblivion for that same reason, they're being built to compliment ENB's drastic departure as far as shading goes. They're a bit too fantasy looking.

OBGE tweaks the screen while retaining the clarity of the game's rendering engine. ENB seems to just slap on filters that muddy it, I don't think I've ever seen a crisp ENB image of the game though maybe I have I dunno. ENB for DDDA was really bad for that too. I had to turn off nearly everything to stop it from blurring.

Yeah it's refreshing getting a nice frame rate in really nicely lit games with little aliasing. New games are usually so blurry yet aliased with strange lighting effects. Even Morrowind looks really good to me compared to some modern games, and the majority of modded Skyrim's.

To put it simply, manual modding is for casuals or people still learning how modding works. Mod Organizer lets you keep your data folder completely clean (aside from ENB files and the SKSE binaries). You have all your mods and shit isolated in the ModOrganizer folder and the install order doesn't matter at all. It will also handle .bsa files, so it can override the "loose files always overwrite bsa" rule; whatever assets are lowest on the list in the left pane will always be the ones loaded into the game. You can just drag mods above or below others to change what overwrites what, and it will even tell you what files are getting overwritten by what mods when you double click one and check the conflicts tab. The plugin load order gets handled separately in the right pane.

The only thing you need WryeBash for is loading it from inside ModOrganizer to create a bashed patch.

I'm a bit torn.

I was reading the article about Oculus Rift vs Zenimax. On the one hand, I totally 100% believe that Oculus stole code and shit from Zenimax and I feel that in the interest of justice they should be punished for doing so.

On the other, Zenimax is a greedy company that I utterly, utterly despise. The paid mod fiasco is 100% them trying to milk every last penny from their users they can; their policies when it comes to TESO are more of the same, and TESL feels like a desperate pathetic cash grab. I honestly feel like another company would have made better choices with regards to the TES IP and I genuinely want them to go bankrupt and sell Bethesda to some other publisher.

I'm honestly not sure which is stronger - my innate sense of justice and desire to see actual, proven violations of the law punished as they ought to be... or Zenimax fucked over like they genuinely deserve to be.

I usually start with the personalities of their parents/guardian. A child is primarily influenced by the behavior of their caretaker, so it serves as a good way to introduce why a character is the way he is. For example, Adaliz has relationship issues because he was born with recessive genes that gave him blonde hair instead of the family's usual brown. This caused his vain and paranoid father to constantly wonder if he was a bastard son, causing him to alternate between treating him like he didn't exist and then feeling bad about it and acting nicer or giving him a gift so soothe his own conscience before repeating the cycle. I feel this is the most natural way to develop a personality, since every human is built up from relationships with other people. No man is an island and all that.

I usually either make a character and then try to think of what that character looks like and how that might affect the kind of person they are. Like, if I made a big guy, was he always strong or did he grow up a toothpick and was bullied, so he decided to get strong. Kinda like a run down of questions about the person.

The other way I make characters is I decide I want a certain type of character and after I decide that, then I go about making the character in the game. This way, I think like maybe I want bad guy and I want this guy to have a drinking problem. Then I try to figure out what this dude might look like.

Either way, a good way to kind of figure out your character is to make yourself answer a bunch of questions. There's a lot of character sheets floating around the internet (lots on Tumblr). Save a bunch of those and get to brainstorming.

I don't think kids really have giant heads. Unless they're deformed I think you only see that in toddlers. People always said my character was a loli but it was the normal height with default bones so it's more about the facial proportions than the head size. A subtle boost is okay but this is too big.

Think back to Oblivion's loli head mesh, it was scaled 1.17, which isn't much bigger at all.

Its not a preset thing, its the data for how slider settings affect the outfits. The issue Im running into is that I can create a preset I like, but when I start looking at outfits with it, the clothes end up almost shrink wrapping the breasts.

First off I want to think about some general vague thing I want to do. Fighter, mage, rogue, whatever. After picking the class, try to imagine their aesthetic. Not the character themselves, but what they're like, what clothes they'd wear, where they'd live, I paint a picture around them and at the very end I imagine what they look like in my mind's eye. Then, from their looks alone, I judge what they do. Then I try to make them ingame.

Instead of using white, try using an obviously darker shade of the skin tone. Tears only really catch the light a little when they well up, their trails are usually just wet stains on the skin.
