Rush is really worth playing. It manages to be a simple yet fast non-stop game with some good controls and gameplay to get used, and it becames better if you get good. Although the physics may feel they are a little degraded from Advance and Genesis games, I think they still do their job.
It's game where you almost never stop to use buttons for one second, where it tries to keep you busy, so I recommend it if you're type of guy who likes always pushing buttons. The trick system is a little gimmick that not only enhances the gameplay, it also goes really well with the game's and music's environment, making you feel you're immersed to the game.
Speaking about the soundtrack, it's also a highlight of the game, where it englobes rap and pop music, giving this game a sentiment of radical and cool. You won't regret if you hear the menu's music for the first time and love it.
In summary, I strongly recommend it, because it's What U Need. I refuse to say anything about Rush Adventure and Colors DS, since it has been a long time since I played them, though.

This is Stringers first time writing Knuckles I believe, and right off the bat the point is emphasised that Knuckles and the floating Island come as a pair. The whole Sonic/Knuckles rivalry is as usual panel by panel, but in these early depictions, Knuckles role as a guardian was much more heavily emphasised than nowadays.

This is about as pithy and complete a summary of Knuckles the _Guardian_ as you will see in any medium.

Juxtaposing Sonic, you have Knuckles, then written as a more mature and serious character, far less carefree. Not exactly disliking Sonic, but not approving of him either. (The SA1 lyrics posted last thread >>180357339 >>180357386). There's a difference and depth to most early depictions of Knuckle and they ALL result from and emphasise his ROLE as a guardian, a protector, of the Floating Island and especially the Master Emerald. Knuckles has something Sonic does not, both DUTY and PLACE, which impacts his character and especially his relationship with the more freewheeling (and arguably blanker slate of) Sonic. With Knuckles' role as Guardian, the "rivalry" or just general tension between himself and Sonic is natural and strongly personality driven. Without that role, that grounding, Knuckles becomes an angry red ox with an undefined beef against Sonic, eventually become the dumb party muscle, a 1d figure, background, comic relief.

Tiny as they were, the initial character descriptions were understood by most writers and emphasised into their depictions naturally. Protecting the Master Emerald was ultimately what gave Knuckles depth and made him interesting, and it's what modern Knuckles has lost.

Knuckles - Hot-headed and set in his ways. He doesn't mind venturing away from home from time to time, but he's a person who very much wants to go back home before too long.

Amy - She's in love with the idea of Sonic, her heroic knight in shining armor, but not who Sonic actually is at heart. She wants to tie him down with marriage, a steady home and eventually kids, but all of that is against Sonic's personality. As a result, her crush is childish at heart, and something she will eventually grow out of. Outside of her crush, she's a person who is in tune with others' emotions, and can act as an emotional rock to help others with their problems, which intentionally and humorously is contradicted by her own emotional problems.

Eggman - Big, boisterous, larger-than-life, and I'm not just talking about his stature. To contrast with Tails, Eggman thinks in grand terms: he wants to build massive bases and air fleets, he wants to rule the world, he wants everything under his control. As a result, anyone who thinks small can foil him by slipping beneath his notice to put a crack in his plans.

Yeah, in short, Eggman goes mental, Sonic has beaten him for the last time, Eggman goes fucking insane, one of the best arcs in the book.
After hearing Uncle Chuck call him by his name, he starts to reason with himself in his cell. Why does he keep losing? With his shattered and somewhat loose thinking he comes up with an idea. What if Sonic, with exposure to the emerald, has been imbued with Chaos Energy, like the Emeralds themselves? This gives Eggman hope. Eggman isn't losing because all of Eggman's faults, (which is most certainly true) Eggman is losing because of an unknown factor he now has to compensate for. So Eggman holds himself really fucking loosely to this idea, enough so he manages to keep his head straight. Although there are times he starts to lose his mind after and tries to reason with himself again.

To put into context, when Snively heard about this, he couldn't stop laughing. Snively's not the best of sense but even he can see how fucking awful this logic was, when Snively saw how Eggman fucked up his own plans time after time.

Megadroid is the avatar of the Editor of StC. Occasionally you'll see editors notes from Megadroid, but actually he was in every isue on page 2 outlining the comic or alongside news posts and I think in the art submissions pages (Most of the art was by 9 year olds).

I don't really want to drag this out any further....But, it wasn't really just the mad ramblings of an insane, broken man because everything he was saying about it made perfect sense in every conceivable way. Sonic absorbed a countless measurement of chaos energy over the course of his many adventures. That's a fact true in the comics at the time, and also true for the games. It's even true in Fleetway, it's the reason why the evil Super Sonic existed in the first place (I think, I don't really read Fleetway so I could be wrong on this point). With all that chaos energy absorption, it's bound to effect Sonic in some way. And based on the patterns that Eggman recognized, Sonic's very behavior is that of a chaotic nature. A nature that aligns with the idea of there being a 0.0000001% chance that things can go horribly wrong. Sonic BECAME that factor of chance. That constant unpredictable factor of chaos that throws everything off, even the most calculated and well thought out of plans. It all even aligns up with Sonic's personality. Sonic is a free spirit, a nomad, that loves adventure. He has no regard for rules and laws established by anyone around him, choosing to live life how he sees fit and doing whatever the heck he wants whenever he wants. That's chaotic. He has no home, and can't stay in one place for too long. He's always on the move. That's chaotic. Adventures are pretty much chaotic events, unpredictable and random situations. Without these adventures, without these events of chaos, Sonic's life would be nearly unbearable. Every day would be the same boring thing, a neverending cycle of repeating patterns with no change or variance.

Sonic isn't "seemingly" chaotic. He IS chaotic. He's a rebellious teenager without a home, endlessly searching for adventure. That's chaotic, regardless if he's a hero or a villain. Being a good heroic person who always does good things does not counteract being a chaotic individual.

If you see a person, say... standing ontop of a moving car, swinging their clothes around in their hand while singing a song about rain and umbrellas, while covered in clown makeup and candy or something, and that same person is also someone who will always do the right thing and save everyone they can, is that person chaotic? Yes.

What do you mean? My point is, in regards to he game canon, that Sonic has absorbed and used more chaos energy than anyone else, or at least a TON of it. In Sonic 1, in Sonic 2, in Sonic 3:K, SA1 and SA2, Heroes, '06, Unleashed, countless handheld and spinoffs, ESPECIALLY Sonic Rush, Generations, the list goes on. And it is something that has been commented on by other characters in some fashion, like Knuckles, Shadow and Blaze.

Yes. In StC, Super Sonic is the result of Sonic absorbing too much Chaos energy from the Chaos emeralds.
But I think in the Archie comic which was posted, Robotnik meant sonic was just embodied general chaos, not that he embodied emerald powered Chaos. Nevermind. This is a lesson against overloading nouns and omitting lower cases.

Sonic is a free spirit with a rebellious nature, which puts him against order. His "I do what I want, when I want" mentality is a chaotic mentality to have, for it goes against order and structure in favor of your own independence, which is what makes it chaotic. Sonic is a nomadic world traveller without a home, and that goes against order because Sonic's very location at any given time has no order and structure. A very orderly individual would follow some sort of schedule, and you would have an idea on where they would be at any given time. Like, it could be 5 pm on a Tuesday, and you would know for a fact that some person you're close to is at Wendy's or something.

Basically, everything about Sonic's personality is aligned with chaos, and goes against order. He doesn't abide by the established rules around him, and he has no set location he regularly inhabits, and he actively seeks out the kind of situations that aren't the norm.

The music so far is pretty nice though IMO. Avatar tracks are pleasant and Modern Sonic's track is good ol' rock. Classic GHZ is eh but I get the impression it's an outlier in terms of mood so I'm not fussed.

Sonic is pretty much the ONLY person that CAN go super. And I say this completely ignoring what Iizuka says, it's a fact that's clear even in Sonic 3 and Knuckles alone. Shadow, Silver, Blaze? The thing they all have in common is "being a Sonic equivalent". Tails and Knuckles' super forms in 3:K have a clear difference from Sonic's in the sense that they do not actually transform. They get an aura, and that's IT. Their sprites are unchanged. Super Sonic is a whole new sprite sheet separate from Sonic's base form.

I think Forces will pull off the trope better than Lost World did (In some respects the Deadly Six could be considered "ancient" evils) if only because Infinite appears to be working WITH Eggman rather than for him. Last time we got characters like that was in SA2 or Generations.
