The reasoning for that is largely because GOG patches their games themselves (well with the help of the studio devs if possible) so that it runs on all systems GOG is available on. A lot of the time they also implement the incredibly popular community patches so games don't run like shit.
So the 4GB patch everyone talks about, is unnecessary with GOG, it's already done the flag is enabled. Same goes for 3 and Oblivion.
If you already have the steam version though it's not a huge problem just not as easy as GOG's ver.

Bethesda dropped the ball many times in Fallout 4, including Concord. Just not in this particular way.

For instance, they could've had Preston, Sturges or even the Longs talk to you and start a quest to take over Concord and turn it into a proper town.

Something akin to Kvatch Rebuilt or Helgen Rebuilt, where you talk to an NPC, give loads of cash to them, do some quests and voila, the abandoned city becomes a full blown town with all manner of NPCs.

There's no variance to them. Aside from the Forged, there's no group of raiders in the base game that has anything unique about them. Every raider wears the same handful of outfits, the same armor, same weapons, the same "Raider" name. The game wants me to believe that there's a bunch of different gangs ruled by different leaders, like Ack-Ack, Red Tourette, Mathis, etc, but they don't FEEL like different gangs. A raider from one end of the map and a raider from the other end will be identical. Even if they had different names other than "raider" it'd feel better. If instead of say, Red Tourette and the generic Raiders, you fought Red Tourette and the Dickfucks, you'd at least be able to go "okay, this is the Dickfuck gang, they're different from the Fuckdick gang down the road"

So Deacon takes us to meet what he calls a "Tourist". This Dalton fellow says that he was tasked to watch an old Slocum joes, and that theres old Gen 1 Synths and a minefield out infront of it. Looks like I was right. This Deacon is a asshole. He tells Piper that we have two ways of doing this, going in through the front door through Gen 1's, minefields and turrets or a back door knowing full well she is young and wants to make an impression. So we manage to trudge through the whole complex, turns out their old HQ is massive. I wonder how they feel about their new smaller one? Probably doesn't matter, honestly. Their old one was huge, but judging all the bodies left behind so were their numbers.

Turns out we have to go out the front no matter what. The only bonus is we found a terminal to deactivate the turrets. So all we have to do is kill some more Gen 1's and navigate a minefield. So after we bust out of the Slocum Joe's Deacon tells us we should split from him and head back to the church. Suits me fine. I don't like the way he watches Piper. He may be a nut, but i've seen too many people in my time to think that he doesn't have qualities a girl would like.

Well either way, we got back to the church in one piece, and what do we find but that asshole Deacon, lying to desdemona about the Joe's job. He says Piper killed a hundred Synths, all while carrying Deacon on his shoulder. Poop Piper looked like she just walked down a dark alley into a group of Super Mutants. Thank god she had the sense to fess up to the whole thing being a lie. I don't want them putting Piper in over her head, and going along with that foolish yarn Deacon was spinning would surely be a lightning rod for trouble.

So we get to come into their little club finally. Desdemona says we both have to have codenames, like this is the Silver Shroud or some shit.

I shouldn't be so negative. Piper seemed to like it. Says her nickname is Bugle, after that pre-war newspaper. I was going to insist I didn't need a name, but before I could open my mouth Piper says my name is Watcher. Well my real name is sort of a nickname as well, so whats one more nickname to have. Honestly, what kind of mother names a kid Pinch?

I have a question

In the path Bethesda DLC has always just been mod files that get installed. No DRM, not even a callback of any sort that the DLC was oficially obtained or not.

I know that Fallout 4 has that in-game modding shit though. This makes me wonder if they've added some kind of callback or check to see if DLC is legit or not. Is this the case?

So we get into this RR and are given work right away. Piper wants to help them out, under the guise of her scoop but i've known for a while the girl just has a good heart. She just plays it off like it's all for the sake of her Paper, but i've been around her long enough to know the truth.

And thats why I don't ever call her on it. It's enough for me to know she cares about the commonwealth.

Well they send us to Old Man Stockton. I had no idea the man was a part of the RR, I suppose thats how the ramshackle organization stays afloat. Now that I think about it, I wonder why I didn't suspect Trader support from the get go. I wonder if Carla or Cricket are supporting them too? They seem to be well armed in the RR, so Cricket could be a possibility.

Well, Stockton wants us to clear out a meet up spot and escort an escaped Synth. It sounds easy enough, even if we have to escort him to the Church, so long as the Synth listens to me and Piper and doesn't stick his neck out.

So we cleared out the meet up spot, now we just have to wait till nightfall. We have a few hours wait, so I tell Piper that we should rest a big, no telling what we will have to deal with tonight. She agrees, and I say I will take first watch.

She must think that because it's a church, she might as well send a prayer to who knows. I thought I heard her say Nat's name, which makes sense, but I heard her say another name too. No idea who else is in the girls mind, but it just proves how she has a big heart. She's a good girl, i'm glad watching her back is my job.
