There's a lot of diversity in characters, many of them have unique mechanics that aren't found in many other games (or at all). For exemple Zato popularized the "puppet" playstyle (which still doesn't exis tin many games) where you control two characters at once and that lets you make lots of interesting mixups. Or May who can summons dolphins as project but she can also jumps on them to attack you and create a fast mixup after that. Or Venom who places pool balls on the screen and hits them and they fly in different directions depending on where he hit them from and they can bounce off each other and he can put topspin or backspin on the balls to change how they move after bouncing off another ball.
It has a lot of universal mechanics, which means you always have more options per situation than in other games, and it's balanced because some mechanics are offensive and others are defensive, so both sides are evenly matched.
The game is very fast and humans generally enjoy speed. The speed and amount of options makes for a very fast and exciting neutral game (Altough other players sometime find this a negative because they prefer a bigger emphasis on the neutral game)
The pressure game is very strong and allows for a lot of creativity in trying to mix up your opponents, with lots of different ways to cancel your moves and various ways to continue attacking after your turn should've ended. Some players dislike this because it means a lot of blocking when you're on the end of it, but Xrd players tend to actually find it very satisfying when they succesfully block a long blockstring and find the hole in it to turn their own pressure own. And just has you have tons of tools to keep your pressure, the defensive players has tons of tools to prevent it.
Also it has metal music and it's flashy and weeb and it's anime enough for regular weebs but just 90s anime enough that normalfag-weebs also like it.

When written well her character is essentially a less snarky more confident version of Spider-man's, but her super life causes more problems than her real life [when she tried to quit superheroics the first time Rogue absorbed her memories and threw her in a coma for a decade]
She existed largely to keep the name "Captain Marvel" in Marvel's hands and had a small but dedicated fanbase.
