If we go by what's being leaked of Death Stranding by Sony people it sounds like we're pretty much getting those "End of generation" quirks in games. Things they'll do to make things look or feel better without trying to push too deep into "fuck you console up" territory.

Ace Combat 7 has that neat water into ice effect on the cockpits too with translucent ice that the sun can shine through and create god rays inside the cockpit or rainbow light.

Which game?

The counter is absolutely essential and you're going to want to use it pretty much everytime you see a monster do something, because a counter can lead into a three poke combo. You can use it on roars, use it when the monster nudges you for some damage, use it to block projectiles completely, plus it's less taxing on stamina if you're worried about that.

As for getting better and aiming, try and be in front of monsters as much as possible. Tigrex and his family are great for practice.

Anyone have any tips for a fledgling bow user? I switch from melee weapons because I wanted a change of pace and I've seen people wreck shop with bows. Only, the going seems to be really slow, and even with powerful bows I'm clearing quests way faster with my less powerful melee weapons. I feel like I'm doing a good job with critical distance and aiming, maybe there's other shit I'm missing.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by 'westernized' but 4u and gen were both on the 3ds, a console which has an incredibly diverse install base and very few of its users are interested in games like Monster Hunter.

Capcom is by no means 'greedy' here (that's almost entirely impossible for me to fucking type)

Capcom has come to a realization, what the realization is is more than likely one of the following.

>handheld gaming is dying in Japan and console gaming in Japan has been on the back foot for the last 10 years. We can't continue to push games for handheld whilst solely marketing to Japan, the two ideals are incompatible. Thus to create a Monster Hunter that can sell to a growing, not shrinking install base, we need to go west and pull out all the stops to make sure this THE Monster Hunter game that captures the west's attention

MHW will do mediocre sales, however Capcom has a back up plan.

MonHun Mobage.

Special events, weapons, hunts, armor plans, etc. tied to a monster mobage where you trade monster girls, hunter girls, some hunter boys, cats, etc. You team them up together to go hunt in special mobage hunts for parts and plans.

Those mobage events will tie into MonHun World DLC including bringing a bunch of those weapons and armors over.

Then they'll have MonHun World events that feed back into the mobage. They'll even do GranBlue and Fate/GO crossovers with MonHun on the mobage which gets you shit like seibah outfits for World.
