I am the only one who thinks that Helves looks quite bad? Animations, models, plastic look, weak stats, getting bullied in every CA video?

I really want High Elves to feel like elite units. So far I am not impressed at all. They don't even have a custom unit formations, and imo should.

I do enjoy both parts of the game, but using multiplayer for balance is absolutely retarded.

The game uses asymmetrical balance because each faction is different, but then people complain about balance based on MP despite the fact that quick battle lets you see what faction you're fighting.

The only reason Chosen are shit in MP is because every single time you pick chaos you'll get an enemy army that is specifically designed to deal with loads of armoured heavy infantry, i.e chosen.

Quick battle can never be a way to asses balance because half of it is just about counterpicking the enemy faction.

It's the reason so many players think a lot of dwarf units are UP based on their MP experience, despite the fact that picking dwarfs basically locks you into fighting armoured AP infantry & cavalry vs. most factions.

Steel Faith buffed these guys. They now have around 50 ranged damage, so they actually able to kill shit while skirmishing. It's still nothing fantastic, but at least they are usable. Most of the kills were from helping Reiksguard to kill Direpack ROR and then shooting some skelies before they ran out of bullets. After that, I used them to help kill Mannfred and cycle charge on weak units.

I like my armies balanced and neat, with swords, spears, lances arches and cavlary but now i am presented with attack helicopters, spinning battle monks, gps guided field artillery, enemy armies made out of 15 chariots and unit counters that make no fucking sense, like the entire "Anti Large" shit has my head in a vice

Looking for advice on how to fill out Vlads army. With Isa Ive settled on going pretty much all Calvary and flying units(If this is a bad idea let me know.) But with the bonuses Vlad gets im using more standard melee and whatnot. But im not sure what a good comp for him is. So this is what im currently running.

Obviously i will replace the base spearmen but im not sure with what and how much of it. So can anybody give me an idea of where to go with his group? Im used to having ranged/artillery to fill out the ranks so im still kind of bad in how to build a strong vamp army.

I've found with VLAD that you can get away with using zombies, skellies, and a couple graveguard. Use Izzie's army as all hammer (cav, dogs and flying shit), and Vlad as a big rotting anvil.

Later on when you've got the cash, add a couple wights, a necromancer, some corpse carts, and vharghulfs/crypt horrors to taste.

It also makes for stupidly fun battles.

I use this formula for all my undead armies and find it far cheaper and indeed better than a single army of turbo hard troops.

+12 MD is fucking great and makes their basic troops way tankier than most other factions.

Lizardmen stats were mostly shit. All they have over other factions is more WD, but they have fuck all armour piercing apart from temple guard, who have mediocre stats as they're a anti-large unit.

Lizardmen monsters also have way worse melee stats than any other monsters.

State of the Empire as of the Fall of 402AD

Even though I have had trouble in the north, I am still holding on to the original territories of the Empire. The Celts have been all but destroyed - all that remains is a small horde in Narbonesis. The African tribes (moors, gaetulians, garamantians) have been wiped out.

On the German border, I was able to sen armies north to sack/raze the jute/saxon towns in Frisia - the Saxons are now a horde, although the Jutes will be fine since I can't push all the way to Scandza just yet. The bro-tier Vandals have made it so that I don't have to worry as much about incursions from Germania proper, and are glad that I am shitting on the germans.

There are rebellions all over the fucking place, but I am trying to get things sorted out in all of my various provinces. Honorious now has 2 positive traits: Respectful (+2faction religious infl when governing) and Smooth Talker (+10% to trade tariff income)

So what? There are loads of units that die rather quickly in other TW games but are still useful as shit for dealing damage.

A slayer hero would be a glass cannon unit that you have to try very hard to protect but can deal out serious hurt if left largely unmolested. That's exactly how slayers work at the moment.

Also Slayer lords & Heroes were pretty good actually because they got extra bonuses vs. monsters. A Slayer lord could be kitted out with that master rune that gives you more attacks for every attack you land and get something like 8-10 attacks on average which would murder a whole unit and kill some of the tougher monsters in a single round.

The reason they weren't used is because the only unit you could put slayer lords & heroes in were more slayers, who do an awful job of being meat shields, but this is pretty much irrelevant for total war.

Slayer conga line was a conga line made up of Dragon and Daemon slayers. This way it was a unit of characters, and characters did not spill wounds to other members of the unit, so even if the enemy dealt 60 wounds in a single round of combat, only one slayer died (since the enemy unit could only allocate wounds to the first slayer in the line and after the model died the rest of the wounds dealt in this combat were lost). As long as the conga line was only engaging one target it could tarpit it for a number of turns equal to its number of models.

Thing is, in tabletop, a lot of the time you can make just as deadly a lord with the equipment you have access to.

Everyone says these guys are so much better than generic lords, but really they aren't, they're just the characters that do shit in the lore. In tabletop you could easily spend nearly as many points as Grimgor & Ungrim cost and make something similarly powerful with your own lore to back it up.

Warhammer TW is simply not a good game. The combat is the worst in series other than possibly vanilla.

I would be fine with Warhammer TW if they'd bother to actually replicate the intricacies and quirks of the rulebooks in a real time setting, wherein infantry movement patterns, shooting mechanics and equipment mean that even basic infantry armies are interesting to play.

The combat in Warhammer: Total War is flawed due to the lack of depth compared to previous titles in the series and no attempts to replace this with mechanics that match the rules of the tabletop game. Let me be perfectly clear about this, the (shielded) shit is one of the worst things they could have done, you HAVE to receuit archers with different ammo types the equipment system is a staple of tabletop and it's completely missing in TWW

Not only that, but because lf its absence you have missing units like normal big uns and missing rules like warmaster for black orcs that allows them to switch weapons on thr fly, from great weapons to 1h shield to dual wield (better sell the dual wield as a fucking RoR!)

Check out chariotmeme's leadership.
Basically what happens is that everytime you win a battle with a vamp lord hero, they have a 5% chance to proc dread/fear/terror incarnate levels. Which gives a -3,-6,-9 leadership penalty to enemies in region. Which stack.
Currently this is enough to insta bring most non leader bonuses generals down to 19-30 leadership and the troops as well. Combine this with the banshee terror and most armies insta flee when combat begins. Wounding or killing the general instashatters the army, and reinforcing stacks are already shitting themselves in fear. If the vampires get in a tight spot, I just put them into the "fear ball" and invocation heal them or use the vampire hero active ability for regen. If they actually start surrounding and holding vlad summons skeletons behind them and they get the attacked in the rear penalty which makes them flee. Trolls already instaroute at battles and it will only get worse. Easiest and cheesiest legendary play of my life with no real units.

Von Carstein faction gets a bonus to vamp heroes iirc, + I think the new drakenhof building gives you really early access to them/increases the numbers you can build. Vamp counts also have a skill that gives increased vamp capacity as well

Just check regularly to see if you can confederate another province that loves you every turn or 2, particularly if they have underdog. my favorite method is to confed everything south of talabec and invade everything north, but i'm not sure why, i feel like stirland and talabecland always confed before the others
taking over marienburg is a good idea, extremely valuable province with the harbor + income bonus for adjacency to reikland
also it's kind of weird that brets attacked you, i usually just trade/non-aggression pact with them and they never bother me

Start with Isabella. You get a FREE cap of +3 vampires right off the bat, not to mention a 25% increase to weapon damage (more dead = faster levelling). She also starts with 2 vampires you can immediately embed in your army to get started while working to bring back Vlad Dad.

they really are misleading - they are best used as mobile ap fliers, whereas the game would have you think that their melee is only to be used situationally. Their missile attacks blow chunks. In campaign you might not get much use out of them but in mp they can be a lifesaver

They're basically only good for melee, I find them really useful as they're great at taking out ranged units and can flank cav really easily and decimate them if you do so because of their AP damage. If you put them in a army with full melee buffs they basically become AP pegasus knights but with fuck all armour.

It can be harder to get into than other total war games because you're basically forced to spam agents, otherwise family influence will stop you expanding, pay a lot of attention to growth as all your provinces start out so poor, and also pay attention to military shit because levi can't do fuck all on their own (but make for excellent meatshields once you get stand & fight).

Compared to vanilla shogun 2 where you can just spam yari for most of the game, focus on building economy and not really give a shit about agents, it's a fair bit harder.

So I had to declare war on the huns since they were being cunts and raiding venetia and were going to sart spawning civil war rebellions if I didn't get them to fuck off. I destroyed all but one of their stacks(locations shown in red xs), which has fled north. Although that means they will shit out more doomstacks later, it is a risk I had to take. I wish I could just destroy them now and be done with it, but unfortunately it doesn't work like that.

I plan on building up garrions buildings in all the provinces in the green area, to prepare for the main hunnic invasion that will come later.

I was not liking Warhammer game at all. But it turns out downloading the longer battles morale mod to remove auto-break pretty much fixed it. That and proper combat mod make it fast, but not a braindead point, click, battle over affair. I can't rate it amongst the best titles, since requiring mods to be good disqualifies it. Really the only problem I have with MTW 2 is how frequently unit cohesion collapses and you get shit like cavalry units strung out over 200 yards. Everything else is top notch. MTW 2 really feels like a perfection of what they tried to to with RTW but didn't get right. Also it has up to 4 sides per fight. I'm very eagerly awaiting the return of FFA in Warhammer 2. They better not fuck it up. The two ways they could are, unfortunately, not unforeseeable. They would be: not letting you fill the required final slot with an AI, or making the maps terrible.

Playing with randoms doesn't really mix with mods, unfortunately. Had some decent fun doing it with Shogun 2's avatar conquest thing, though. Its kind of a shame that the game wasn't that good, because the avatar concept was pretty cool.

It looks pretty good. The sound team needs to fix how the lizardmen sound. The animation team needs to fix how models interact (i.e. the dinosaurs would clip into each other and the dragon "custom" combat animations versus the Carnosaur clipped into the ground). The combat animations still look sloppy. The map looks good, but I hope they improve the terrain texture and map biome doversity instead of having one map being a boring open field with a gross looking dirt texture and another map being so many trees you can't even see your own damn units.
