She's extremely safe; her strings leave her in favorable positions. Her combos are simple (SF style) and deal a good amount of damage. Once you have meter you're a monster. I recommend getting down some strings, look at her frame data, and practicing your instant foot dive because you're gonna be using it a lot.

The movement is awful. Tekken players harp on about how important movement is in this series, not because it has depth but because the system they have is outdated and poorly designed and you need to manipulate quirks in the game's input buffer just to get a baseline of something usable.

The cast is extremely homogeneous. It ultimately doesn't matter who you play in this game because every character runs the same numbers and has the same gameplan. Each match you play in Tekken is just going through the motions. It's why legacy skills transfer so hard across these games. You're never going to see new tech developed or creative plays. You learn what the cast's strings look like and how to punish them and that's the plateau.

There's no tutorial in the game at all. Fans have to pick up the slack to communicate the title's basic gameplay principles to new players. Things like low parries and throw breaks aren't even mentioned in the game at all. You can't view the frame data for any move in training.

You can't save replays of your matches to watch them later. This is a basic feature every fighting game has now.

No best of three in ranked mode.

Huge input delay. Game feels like wading underwater.

The music is actively offensive to listen to. Tekken is known for great music but there's none in this game. Key composers like Okabe and Tohyama barely worked on this game. Thank god for the (console only) jukebox.

Graphics are great but the hair looks terrible on most of the characters due to how the unreal engine handles alpha transparency (not very well). Customisation is a shadow of how it was in previous games and definitely can't compare to Soul Calibur's.

I agree with all except the cast being homogeneous. Tekken has a good middle-ground where all the characters have their own feel, but not at the a level where everything is a 'matchup' that can be rated as a good or bad matchup. I find it to be way better this way. One thing I absolutely hate in fighting games is when you feel like you're in a literal counter-matchup.
Tekken makes sure every character has the tools needed to compete, without making them so different from eachother you end up with nothing but gimmicks.
Except for Gigas. I don't really know what happened there.

I would class myself as a low intermediate and I'm happy with that plus I'm really starting to get the hang of wave dashing which feels great because good footsies is a thrill. They can sideroll after the f+4,3. That's where the combo counter resets. A true combo is d+3,4 into whatever, but the timing on that pickup is super tight unless you're fighting Kuma/Jack/Gigas. I haven't seen any non-Korean Josie or Bruce player hit it reliably. And even then dudes on Greentekken drop it every now and then.

I've been doing d+3+4 for the oki, since it puts her in perfect position to punish get up kicks.

Paul has high damage so you don't really need big combos. I mean if you can punish with a death fist you get 60 and a knock down. A simple punish like u/f34, b12, dash, 3,2 is 51 damage.
He has pretty good mobility as well and has a reversal.
He kinda has everything so you can play him leaning heavy on fundamentals.
