As a relative newcomer to fighting games, I'm getting absolutely fucked after switching from SFV to GG.

I really enjoy GG, but the grip I've been using on my stick doesn't let me do clean inputs and I've been completely complacent with it in SFV.

Should I try a new grip or just keep at it? It's really hard because GG just isn't fun to get good at, it feels like a chore.

Well what character are you using in GG

There shouldn't be much new input in GG compared to SF. Only major thing is that you can't "spam smash" to get dp out like SF and actually have to do a legit dp input at correct frame. Though, if the opponent RC, don't bother and just block because trying to do input during RC is all fucked up

A lot of basic confirm is pretty easy for GG since there's long hitstun for you to react

That's part of why SFV is so awful for beginners. The inputs it allows are so god damned sloppy that you'll get your complacent shit slapped going into any other game.

Character doesn't matter much, but you definitely need to slow down and tighten up your execution. GG is great for that and catches out a lot of people.

I really don't think the dial a combo-ness of it is that bad, but then again I play other games where it's pretty extreme so maybe I just don't notice.

Likewise, I don't think the jump button is that damaging. It's just changing your muscle memory from tying it to a button press to up on the stick/pad. I'd say changing from block button to back to block is harder to overcome but even then that's not that bad
