This, lack of Story Progression, and limiting clothing options are what keep me from exclusively playing TS2. If the majority of clothing was individual instead of in the "outfit" category, other families aged, and time advanced without the need of a really buggy and wonky mod (CTP), then I would play nothing but TS2.

This is where tray importer really shines. Fill a sim with errored clothes and save them to library. Check out their cc in the list and start deleting. I'm sure you can do the same with lots too.

I've downloaded the vg Town and explored for a bit. I love that you've added TS2 families and I can't help but smile when I see some families like White, Haram, Fedorist and Shecklestein.
Is there a spreadsheet that explains what each CC does? I'm a bit overwhelmed by those.

Which game is the tsg town for? 3 or 4?

The amount of times I download a lot only to see RLD as the username is amazing. I knew a lot of people were going to pirate the game but you never really expect it from tumblrs that unironically call themselves simblrs.

I'm having problem with MC commander. Updated to 3.5.3 version and when I get into the game it bombards me with errors and shows that it's 3.5.2 instead. Downloaded it from its official tumblr. Also, even without any other cc and on a new save this keeps happening. Any idea how to fix?

There were a few user made worlds that were just as good, especially St.Claire, moreso the ghetto edit of it. There was an amazing recreation of gta v's whole map, but not even nasa computers could run that shit at acceptable speed. We came so close to heaven with TS3 and it's been a slow fall to hell ever since.

Creating a server emulator isn't really the same as completely disassembling and reassembling a game. Ts3 is a mammoth of a game and reverse engineering would take decades and some seriously dedicated fans. Even the Morrowind reverse engineering project has a long ways to go before being release state.

I've been spoiled by the sheer amount of things to do ( and the nasty bloat, to an extent ) of Sims 3. Trying to play Sims 4, I can see the big improvements like multitasking, not having to interrupt actions to do something small like tell a joke, but, hell, it's so bare bones in comparison, there is so few activities to partake in, it's painful.

And now, I have no desire to go back to 3. The ease of construction, quality of life improvements, being able to modify, move, resize rooms and houses on the fly without taking all the furniture out, rebuilding an entire house, all these things have spoiled me hard. Not to mention time in 4 is synced up between the entire world now.

Should I just wait another year or two until Sims 4 is 'fully feature complete'?


On a semi related note, very little CC, but all of the official expansions of 3, made it so every time I'd go into CAS it'd take a solid 2-3 minutes to load, and a 10 second delay every time I'd try out a new article of clothing. I do not miss that in the slightest.

It seems despite of our advancement in personal computers we don't yet have the computing power to run large open world simulations. This was the lesson that The Sims 3 taught us. And Maxis as well.
The next generation (The Sims 4) needed a graphics overhaul. So they opted for textured 3d models in TS4. This gives greatly better visuals in TS4 compared to TS3 but it also greatly increases the work required to create each model and it makes things like different color swatches (that was so easily implemented in TS3) a lot more work.
This of course limits the amount of content they are able to put into each expansion pack. Of course they could also hire more artists. But then, they have to consider the cost effeciveness of such move. Is it economically feasable to create more content for the amount of money they can expect in return ?
Video games employ some of the most advanced science on our planet to make, unfortunately it's still not always a very profitable venture since it's still so easy for pirates just to avoid paying for a product.
One could of course argue that those pirates would have just stayed without the game if they were without the means to pirate it. But of course this isn't true of all pirates. Some have the means to pay yet would rather spend the money on something else.

It's a complex situation with many factors that are at play but i think it's unlikely that we'll see as many expansions of the scale of those in TS3 in TS4.

I wish they'd make it so that the generated disguise and the actual alien would have the same facial features. Or at least let us save the face as a template so we can easily pop it in while making the character. I want my alien and my sim to look similar.

I hold out hope that they'll get a pack someday. Since they're already half implemented it wouldn't be too hard to just go the rest of the way. They don't even need a game pack just to be included with the inevitable Seasons expansion. Though I'd rather see a game pack. Especially one that also unlocks the ability to be multiple life states at once again.

Honestly, Anon. You are not the first to have this dumbfounded moment. We share some similarity in humor, writing style, and such. That and we became friends pretty fast back in the day when sims 4 first came out. Lydia has been in Kim's stories since Desperate Housemates of /tsg/, that was my first story.

If you wanna little /tsg/ lore. Kim went off the deep end one day, snapped, and assaulted a gathering of people she thought were after her. She was facing jail time. But she plead batshit and got parole and mandatory medication. Lydia became Kim's parole officer. Kim grew a school house crush on Lydia and moved in next door to her; so Kim could be 'closer' to lydia just in case kim would have a 'bad day' and didn't want to snap again. It was right up stalking for awhile.

World Adventures is my favorite expansion in the entire TS series. It was so different and new from anything they had done previously and tomb exploring was neat as fuck. Building and downloading player made tombs should have been so much bigger than it was. Such a shame. I'd have killed to have gotten support for Ambitions and Island Paradise. Clue and ghost hunting in tombs and underwater tombs would have been fucking incredible.

Island Paradise is number 6, I actually had a hard time deciding between that and seasons since making dive lots was my absolute favorite thing to do in TS3. University is up there somewhere. I actually disliked supernatural stuff so much that I had that one turned off to save load times. I did like the graphical effect a full moon would cause. That's about it.

Island Paradise was a lag-fest and that killed my excitement for houseboats, honestly. I wasn't a huge fan of World Adventures but I can understand the appeal to ADVENTURE. Also, plenty of people don't like Supernatural if they don't care for occult sims. I adore them but that's definitely a very specific interest. University is also fun but ultimately limited in scope.

I've played Sims 3 to death years ago, and finally spent the last week playing 4, lurking these generals as well. I'm ridiculously disappointed with it for reasons that have been stated many times here.
However it at least rekindled my desire to replay 3. I remember it was ridiculously laggy, with stupid long loading times, especially in create-a-sim.. I read that these things can be mitigated to an extent if you do not install all of the game's expansions and especially stuff packs. Well, when I played I had literally everything under the sun crammed in that game.

What in your expert opinion is safe to turn off, other than the katey perry stuff pack? And does an SSD make any difference in the game's performance, loading wise?

- Set memory usage to 4gb in sims3.ini via the \bin folder of the base game (MemoryUsageLimit = 40000000)

The 'fixed' routing worlds are a meme, don't bother. Many of them are totally messed up in areas. Clean your save with the save cleaner now and then, reset the world if things seem wonky (MC feature). Keep your mods folder pruned and organized.

This is what I do and my game runs great. I wish I could set someone who thinks Sims 3 runs like and crashes often in front of my comp to play.

You're only wrong about TS4. It's basically exactly TS2 except they found a way to have a fat fit slider without making entirely separate meshes. If you have photoshop skills and know how to use Sims 4 Studio to make your own swatches, it's almost as good as having CASt. Almost.

I made a sim in Sims 4 and saved the household, how can I reload them? I can't figure out how to load sims I already made previously into the active character creation menu.

they should be in the gallerry.

go to create a sim. open the gallery. pick your sim. (they won't show up if you used custom content unless you enable sims with CC in the Advanved settings at the left border of the gallery)Once piced there is an option to download the sim into cas.

i'm not sure. i know some of the pirated versions had no access to the gallery - although i'm sure that only meant the part that connects to the community. i'm sure you'd still have access to the content (eg sims) you created locally as without it the game would be unplayable.
so yeah i think it should, but maybe one of the other pirates could pitch in and share their experience.

just open the gallery, you don't have to connect. see at the top there is three tabs. the right most one is My Library. That is where your creations should be.
