If he's using all little arms, use a big arm and just plow through it. If you don't have a hammer or wrecking ball, you'll need to get really fancy with blocking and counter dashing. He has a prolonged window for retrieving his arms if they're blocked, so you wanna dash one set of arms, block the second set, counter dash on the second one since you have invuln against the third, and then hit him with something fast.

If he's using the hammer arms at all, stick to that side keep around medium range. Put your fastest arm on your opposite side (so if he has hammers on his right arm, put something quick on your left) so that when you duck the hammers, you pop him with your closest arm.

If he has all hammers, you can use the same strat as if he had all little arms by just blocking and moving through his second thrown set.

If your character has dragon arms, you can totally cheese him out by dancing around lowered outside edge and throwing charged dragon shots. He can't block when jumping, so if he tries to jump in, he gets bopped with a laser. If he doesn't, he has to walk all the way around and you can just rotate away.

Be very careful when he has rush. That shit will fuck your day up. Don't forget that it just lands somewhere, so one dash might not be enough as it'll blow up for 200 damage.

Stick and move, my man.

I got pokken on the wiiu and it did not last me long. Swapping between the two phases is shut and all the characters are horribly unbalanced. It's a party fighting game that's incredibly frustrating. J would highly recommend arms over pokken

Now that I've played ranked, yeah, it's really deep. The core mechanics seem simple enough but in the heat of the moment when you and your opponent are good you start adding up all your options and thinking "holy shit". Especially since any character can eventually use any arm.

I had the same error. Testpunch wasn't working, got booted out of nearly every MK8D online race. It's from the NAT settings that your router gives most devices by default.
You have to go into your router settings on your browser and enable a DMZ for your Switch's IP address. When you reconnect, you'll see the NAT change from B or C to A, which is what you want.

Works flawlessly for me now, hopefully it does the same for you.

I'm trying to get into Ranked (have to beat story mode level 4) and I'm just struggling so much. I can't make it past the first enemy, Master Mummy, who I should be able to breeze through since he's so slow.

I just hardly do any damage to him, and it seems that the computer always knows how to respond perfectly.

Anymore else having trouble? Any tips? I'm still getting used to how moving, dashing, and charging all play into each other. Sometimes I feel like my shoelaces are tied when I try to punch a certain way or move a certain direction.

I never lost a match during the Testpunch 1v1 so this is a rude awakening for me.

Can someone explain how charging works?
I want to charge without blocking, dodging, or jumping. But it seems like I have to hold those buttons/block to do it.

That's exactly how it works, you either charge after a jump, while blocking or while dashing. theres a few exceptions, ie ribbons insta charge and bytes super jump. The best way to always have a charge is with min min's left arm, and last resort or whatever its called on spring man and max brass

For anyone struggling with the godlike AI, I've found you can sort of abuse the "Save and Quit" function of Grand Prix:

>start back at 1-1 and get an easy victory

If anything the lowest teir is b, the only good player we have seen so far is THE mr yabuki so I doubt anything tier that your see now is accurate. All of the characters and their gimmicks are good, its more about ARM combos, and straight upgrades like springman to max brass.
And I doubt its going to be that great, max is gonna have issues somewhere.

Why is this game so goddamn hard, I feel like I keep missing all my punches. This sounds retarded but can someone guide me on how to aim my punches? I feel like some of my punches don't curve enough, but if I use shit like the boomerang it curves way too goddamn much. I lost twice on level 2 single player.

You really only have 3 ways to throw punches. Hold the remote vertically to throw a straight. Hold it to the side to curve left or right for hooks.

Some arms will vary, some you have little control over their trajectory, others let you continue to curve them like a curveball.

Try practicing on a lower difficulty to get that down.

I can't give much advice since I'm dumb and I develop strategies without thinking, but do remember that the more you play the more you will get the hang of things. At first it'll seem like there are a lot of aspects to fighting but as you play the amount will reduce and you will develop clear goals in your fighting.

can someone enlighten me on how to use kid cobras abilities (traditional controls) and suggest what arms to acquire? Welp, that's a good first day of ARMS.
Beat Grand Prix levels 1-4, then got to Rank 5.
I think I'm very predictable because I'll win 7 matches in a row against someone, then they'll start beating me, and it's hard for me to recover.
Keep in mind, I always use Min Min, and I never really unlocked any new arms. Meanwhile the people I would play against would invariably switch characters until they realized that I suck against Master Mummy with big arms.

It's hilarious when they go for Ribbon Girl and try to win via jumping, or Ninjara and grabbing. Never had so much fun wrecking people.

Anyone have any tips on dealing with heavier characters with the large sized arms when using a fast/weak character? I can never do enough damage, and it seems like I struggle to dodge since they take up so much space.
