I wanna try getting back into this game but I never actually got past Cruel because I always do stupid builds that don't work that well. What is actually the point of the Scion class? I really like her role as the multiclassing character but realistically it seems like you just use one skill all the time in this game so I'm not sure what she's actually good for; only thing I could figure out looking at her ascendant tree is that she can use spell based projectiles decently and her starting point hits a lot of aura stuff. Is she basically experts only?

It's really simple to fix the XP curve

Just add max levels to maps at which point they no longer give XP. Also require the colored maps for XP as well (ie t1 to t5 requires to be magic or higher to get XP from).

This makes getting to maps and farming early maps the same, but crunching out the last few levels gets excessively hard, which translates to taking longer. 1-90 level speed remaings largely unchanged, but 95+ will take significantly longer. The system would work out so that the last level 99 -> 100 requires T16 chaining at rare corrupted quality to get any XP.

AoE change was a bit ago. They made literally every single Area of Effect in the game smaller. To give you an idea of how shit it is, Heretic's Veil is like 10C in a stable Softcore League when it used to be multiple Exalted, being the absolute go-to Curse aura helm.
They also Nerfed Melee Splash when they said they buffed it with the AoE changes, but like everything else, it's objectively smaller now.

It's at 20% but I think it should be much, much higher. How do I increase my crit effectively? I've gotten about 6-7 crit nodes which I know isn't a lot.

Yeah, it almost defeats the purpose of going CI. What I don't like is reducing the amount of ES on gear while also getting rid of the %ES craft and nerfing discipline. It's just too much ES reduction, and it is going to kill a lot of builds. Especially Witch, Shadow and crit Raider builds.
The removal of the nodes behind CI is just going to just make everyone go LL because there isn't any reason not to anymore. If they can even get the ES to do it.

Make it literally anything other than a flat chance to completely avoid damage. In any system where a single instance of damage (or at most a few) can kill you, a single roll to decide survival will always suck.

Simple solution: redesign Evasion such that failing the roll is bad, but not useless. Give Evasion inherent damage reduction at a lower rate than Armour so that it can fulfil its design intention of smoothing damage with pseudorandom nullification without the possibility of instant death.

Fun solution: make Evasion efficacy scale with player behavior. Allow Evasion to, for example, delay incoming damage in a way that can be negated by player movement, flask usage, skill usage, etc.

Or do anything else, really. Just recognize that Evasion fails fundementally because it only increases EHP as an average over a large series of rolls while it can completely fail to give a benefit across a short, deadly series.

That makes it worse, sure, but it's fundamentally flawed regardless. The Evasion mechanic as implemented only makes sense if you have enough EHP to survive incoming burst damage. If you don't, then it amounts to a saving throw against instant death.

The design goal is clearly to incentivize stacking multiple defenses, but it competes for space against two choices that increase EHP against burst damage making it inherently less appealing.

To wit, Dodge is fine whereas Evasion is shit.

i don't think lab's that bad. at first, i was pretty bad, but no i just quicksilver and yolo through the traps. navigating the lab is actually really easy. it's usually in a corner. i always pick top right. just read the clues of each room and you'll be more efficient.

I feel GGG made a mistake by not taking a difficulty out for 3.0 as N/C/M makes no sense with the new 2 difficulty system and their excuse of "giving out 3 points per lab feels wrong". Normal and Cruel lab are both too easy in their trap design gauntlets to provide anything more than tedium. There would be nothing wrong with one lab for 1-5, one for 6-10, and uber lab for the last two points.

Giveaways being against tos is because they don't want to police subscriber giveaways/follower giveaways since this boils down to an exchange of in-game goods for some out of game gain. Beta key giveaways are fine since they are not in-game items, just think of it as some voucher for a real life good that is just related to poe, it could be a tshirt giveaway or something. This is not indirect in-game item rmt.

That said I think trading in-game items for a key would be against tos, it's pretty clear cut. You can email them to confirm.
