Sorc tanks are fun though. They have lots of survivibilty options, and hurricane is nice for helping to clear trash groups. The biggest downside is their lack of CC compared to say a DK tank, but its a refreshing change of pace sometimes.

Orcs get more health and stamina, higher health recovery, recieve more healing, and run faster.

Nords get more health and stamina, health recovery, cold resist, and a flat damage reduction.

Another good choice is redguard. More max stamina, stamina recovery, and a passive that recovers a % of their stamina every 5 seconds on hitting an enemy with a melee attack (skill or regular light/heavy).

I'm a noob lvl 30 and my first char is a mag dk Dunmer. I'm focusing on magicka and my pvp line is flame lash, burning embers, burning talon or fiery grip, igneous shield and volatile armor. I fight with one hand + shield. Should I change something? It seems like I have a hard time killing anyone. What gear would you recommend at my level?

Fire staves synergize with Templar/DK and promote using sets like Silk of the Suns
Shock staves with Sorcs that can run Netch Touch/Spider Cultist and use double shock staff for effect.

Burning vs Concussed vs Chilled are all unique and important debuffs that go into group play.

You are right that Magic Damage is the odd one out even with War Maiden as there is no magicka weapon that scales with that set but for MagNB you can run War Maiden and practically have 99% magic damage abilities besides your light attacks/blockade of fire or lightning.

"Spellcrafting" is suppose to address the other schools of magic as this is a DESTRUCTION staff.

Exploiter exists because Burning is its own bonus damage and Off-Balance only exists to empower your next Heavy Attack/Power Lash synergy with MagDK. Exploiter gives a bonus damage component to shock damage.

Chilled doesn't need a bonus damage component as it applies defensive debuffs with Minor Maim and Immobilize doesn't work on a lot of enemies.

It would be great to see sets rebalanced and have more niche uses and maybe have a higher variety of sets that have 3 or 4 piece bonuses vs most PvE sets being 5 piece bonuses.

I can respect lightning, fire, frost damage. In PvE some builds have a lot of AOE damage and use lightning staffs, but some builds have more single target and use fire staffs. In PvP it should be mostly single target so fire staffs are favoured, although if you want to do things like vicious death builds you'd lean towards lightning more often.

You want at least one person to have wall of lightning in a trial to get the off balance passive, but everyone else should be using wall of fire imo.

I can respect frost damage too in PvP, the slows, roots, and maim are very irritating to fight against. Definitely viable if you want to play a cc lockdown role rather than damage dealer.

ok im done with vma for a while. out of all of the stages 6 is the worst for me. even stage 5 isnt too bad, and 7 is rng but not that many enemies to contend with. but stage 6 is worse than sticking an ice pick in my dick hole. every fucking time a mini boss spawns the spiders spawn and the boss uses her lightning from outside the stage, so you are runing from the spiders and the lightning while trying to stay in the light and avoid the minibosses attacks. trying to play that stage just ruins my enjoyment and desire to keep playing for the evening, so i just turn it off. i want the vma weapons but jesus fuck that fucking stage.

thats the fucked up part, this is on my magsorc. on my magblade i am stuck on stage 9, and took a break to level my magsorc. got my magsorc to level 50 and decked them out in julianos, willpower jewelry, illambris, and gold staves, and thought to give vma a try, and i breezed through the first 5 stages with only 3 deaths. then i hit a wall on stage 6. i really don't get it, ive abandoned the quest and taken it again to start at the beginning, and each time i can get through the first 5 stages with little issue, but there is just something about stage 6 that gets me. its more than a bit annoying that when i ask for advice the first response is usually "those are the two easiest specs" or "you mean you can't do it lol git gud".

Depends on you. If you buy them with gold, you can only get them unfurnished I think. Then you'll need to spend gold to buy the furniture, or make it yourself with resources. If you buy it with crowns, then you are paying real world money for pixels.

Personally, I haven't bothered with housing at all. Only thing I was interested in was extra storage, but with the double bank space with ESO+ I no longer have that need. For a target dummy, I just made one and put it in the guilds house to practice on. I made decent money selling recipes (some of these new morrowind green recipes are going for 10k each, its awesome, and they drop from shit like the dwemer jugs and vases).

The problem is they have different zones with different levels. So if you're already leveled you have no reason to go back to a lower zone. In ESO enemies scale to your level so you can go to any area and quest. You can do anything in any order you want.

Far before morrowind dagoth ur reawakened at red mountian and bound himself to heart of lorkhan. Tribunal went to try and kill him but were defeated and no longer had access to HoL to renew their power. They were weakened at the time of morrowind and vivec was focussing his power on the ghostfence.

How are you going to get that best stuff wearing the crap you get while leveling?

Crafted sets are good enough to do most things, and its nice to be able to fill in with something that works ok if you are trying out a totaly new build.

at the end of the day you want maxed crafting just to be able to upgrade your gear to gold easily, being able to craft stuff is kind of a useful side effect.

I just barely beat stage 6 for the first time as magDK.
I was approaching it wrong- I wasn't going in with enough DPS and speed.
I got myself expedition buff and retooled everything for max DPS, and for better sustain I just relied on using harness magicka and intentionally absorbed the weak elemental attacks.
Then I strategized gibbing everything right out of the portals, looked for messages about spiders and sacrificed everything to stay in the light obelisks, and finally kept DoTs on boss.

As soon as I got to 5 obelisks, grabbed the axe, dump ult and absolutely rush boss. As soon as the boss gets up, grab another pickup, nuke the lurcher, and repeat.

Boss was dead almost the same time I got to the second round of 5 obelisks unlocked this way.

When will EU trial start today? I apperently have to work around 4am this saturday, cant stay up to late.

Recipes for daily crafting writs can be bought from chefs and brewers (food and drink recipes, respectively). Do the provisioning daily writs, they have a chance of giving you a recipe of that tier as a reward, green to purple quality. So, if your provisioning is maxed out at level 20 - 30 food, you'll get a level 20 - 30 recipe as a reward. Make green recipes, the highest level that you can, and check back at the chef and brewer every 5 levels for new items to make. No sense in grinding out 50 level 20 items to get from 25 to 30 when you can make 20 level 25 items.

And fishing can be good, some good recipes require fish, and when you fillet the fish you have around a 1% chance to get a perfect roe, which is used in making psijic ambrosia (xp drink). The ambrosia sells for around 10k gold, so you can sell it or keep it.

Plenty of quests you can just sneak through, though most people probably don't realise this because sneaking is more finicky than in singleplayer ES games. If you're not playing a Nightblade, Invisibility potions are a requirement because some areas have enemies that block the path and don't go on patrol.

You should be light attacking and heavy attacking in between skills as part of your rotation. Your rotation will change as you level and get more skills, but generally:

Before the fight you buff up, Light attack -> AoE or DoT -> LA -> Repeat until you have your AoE's and DoT's up -> single target skills or heavy attack if you need to replenish resources -> reapply buffs and AoE's/DoT's as needed -> repeat until the target is dead

Depending on your class and build, you may need to heavy attack more or less than other classes. For example, my sorc is a heavy attack build focused on lightning damage. I only light attack between laying down my aoes and dots on the enemy, then I heavy attack until I need to reapply buffs or skills. Since lightning staves get bonuses to AoE damage on heavies, I can do aoe damage and replenish resources at the same time.

Comparatively, on my staminaDK, I only heavy attack once or twice per rotation, the rest of the time is using my skills.

Your level of sustain is something that you'll get a feel for as you play and get more experienced. The worst thing is pushing yourself too hard and bottoming out on resources and having nothing in reserve for an emergency shield/heal/interrupt/dodge/burn phase/etc.

thats why i switched from a dual wield build on my stamsorc to a twohander build. I lost about 4k dps, but the rotation is much easier to do, sustain is easier, and the drop in dps isn't as bad when you have to keep moving. also, twohand is more fun.

thank you very much again. my problem against the final boss, i think, was that i was popping the last obelisk as soon as the fight started, then got overwhelmed with everything that was going on and didn't get her down/obelisks popped again before she was able to one shot me. i also switched out from maxheal/magicka food to max health/mag regen, so i had more magicka to keep myself shielded, since i couldn't rely on heavy attacks as much while trying to stay mobile. i did get the bug where there were no obelisks lit up again, but i grabbed the haste sigil and just kited the spiders in a circle, and another obelisk lit up about 15 seconds later.

died about 5 times on the sage 7 boss, twice to flowers inside the shields, once because i hit the wrong button and interrupted him then got one shot, and twice because i didn't kill the venomcallers fast enough, but i got him down fairly quickly. died twice in stage 8, should have fed down my vampness before i hopped in, i forgot how much those fire daedra hurt when they are channeling, but the stage 8 boss i find the easiest of the whole lot. taking a break before i tackle stage 9. stage 9 is where im stuck on my magblade, so hopefully i can learn something to help me overcome that hurdle with them as well. ill need to go watch some videos of stage 9 before i give it a try, and ill definitely need to go feed down to vamp stage 1 to get rid of my fire weakness, or else the crematorial guards will make short work of me.

damn, this stage 9 boss is something else. i can burn an ultimate to get him to 70% and start the next phase, but i can't DPS the crystals down in one go fast enough. by that point, i end up getting knocked into the lava and dying before i can reach land. died about 6 times so far, not a record by any means. but now that ive gotten this far, not going to back down now.

ok, 25 times ive died so far. if i have my ult ready, i can get him to ~60% health when he teleports. but i still can only kill one crystal fully and leave maybe 15% on a second one before i either get knocked down or have to jump off. if i get knocked off into the lava, its game over, the crematorial guard is fire breathing on me before i even get out. between the guard, healer, and clanfear, ive been able to get back up to the platform once, but swiftly ate a skull as soon as i got up there with a lightning strike immediately after it. people keep saying that this is the easiest boss once you have the mechanics down, i guess i am getting lots of practice.

his first port will always be his channel shit, you can dk wings it or defense sigil it and it'll actually fuck his shit, people who tell you to save it for 3rd phase are stupid and have low dps

his first port will also always spawn the daedroth next to him, what you can do here is drop your dots and stay in his melee range and interrupt his channel, it will force his aoe that's slow and easy to avoid while also giving you breathing room to focus on just the daedroth

ignore the mage it does no damage just keep moving to dodge its fire channel, that's its only damage

crystal phase should not require explaining at all, it's something you get used to, even if you read up on it you'd still die due to lack of mechanical familiarity

3rd phase his first port is again a channel swarm shit, honestly just burn the cunt, it's safest and fastest. if you can't burn him then make use of the haste and heal sigils to pick up the gold ghosts and kill the summoners from round 4 that spawn, again leave the mage alone as it's fucking useless

if you havent burnt him yet, his third port (by this time you should have all the gold ghosts he has spawned) will also spawn a daedroth. same shit, but no d sigil this time so you have to make do with a shitty heal sigil (as long as you shield up and regen it's actually okay)

you can go the entire fight without shielding, i would recommend heavily overshielding as you probably are not familiar with the damage spikes at all yet

I didn't know, welp that's probably all I need. I've also been avoiding runes. I've nuked him into orbit before the first CG had time to even waddle and that's how I got to stage 3, where I promptly double tapped and rolled into three (3) ghosts, but I wasn't nuking him regular because the guides weren't telling me to do that.

I've never been able to dodge the CG firebreath unless I sprint a circle. never. but if I sprint a circle I just eat it from the boss. I have been forced to just tank through it and dps it down, but I can't facetank and take boss skull knockback/one-shot spells. hell if I cast blockade the same time the lich crystal appears I'm guaranteed to get hit.

I'll go world around a bit for more skill points for the wings skill and get some money back for the repair costs then try again

his knockback is dodgeroll/blockable, his only oneshot is the aoe which you can bait for breathing room so its k

just takes time to learn the thing

oh and wings won't absorb it completely, you'll need to bash it at some point as the shots get faster, but it will block most of it.

easy way to do vma is just pure deeps, people say pet sroc is cheese but I struggle on it more than a glass cannon because I just get overloaded by mob/attacks as I'm too busy spamming shields to stay alive where pure deeps I don't even worry about getting attacked because everything is already dead.
