The Last General Ever

/aog/ is a place to primarily discuss Attorney Online but also Ace Attorney in general.
Whether you want to talk about your favorite cases or characters it's all welcome here.

>What is Attorney Online?

In short: It's multiplayer Ace Attorney.
AO is a virtual chatroom/courtroom mix which we use to perform improvised AA-like trials, Civil Cases, Class Trials, Jury Cases, Investigations and more! Choose from a wide selection of AA characters (and guest characters), pick a position (Defence, Prosecution, Judge, Witness, etc.) and dive into a whirlwind of logic, banter, theories and memes.

Come join us on our server:

Streams typically run in the evening, US time. You can also check out recordings of previous cases via guardlytheguard, lawfuldickish, and toodamnsmug on twitch, or their corresponding youtube channels.

Alternatively, you can look through our Case Archive to find completed documents and recordings of cases:

I know Amanda makes herself a target with her silliness but fclss justificiation for being an asshole is "they RP'd choking out, I deserve to be an asshole and make everyone uncomfortable!" If that means that I'm defending the fucking wannabe-psychic Whitesnake fan, so be it. If you gang up with him for a public bullying session then congrats, you're bringing high school-tier drama into AOV, hope you're proud of yourself.

If you wanna bully, do it in PMs, just like ERP SHOULD be done.
>>
My take on this autistic drivel is simple:

Anongrill needs to get off their fucking high horse, stop sucking up to the arcade circle jerk, and actually listen to the the community. There is a vast amount of people here who doesn't want the drama, trannies, and other nonsense that attract the dredge of society, and the fact that even an ERP area is even being considered in a game based off of a Taiwanese murder mysteries and courthouse game baffles the mind.

Having mods enforce the rules would be a step in the right direction. Having an admin who is impartial to everything is a step in the right direction.

But it's not going to happen. Once a tight knit group like that is formed, good luck getting listen to, because if someone in that group steps on another person's toes and breaks the rules and that person is punished, they'll expose all the dirty secrets the administration does behind closed curtains. I've seen it before in different game's servers, and this is the reason why.

I'm not even saying you got to be a hard ass about it either. I'm just saying why the fuck are we allowing toxic people into the game who does nothing to contribute and cause more trouble then they're worth?
>>
>>179770014
I don't think he's popular, desu. He's probably one of those people who sends out invites like cotton candy, and people accept friend requests like cotton candy. The best part of this is though, that him and his buds are autists going on autist hunts. For what purpose lmao? These acme people are weird, sure, but they're anything but uncivil. On our server, their public harrassment to the detriment of cases should be being met with severe punishment, but it's not.

Let's not get too focused here tho. It's not just him, one person. There's three groups of problems here. There's anongrill, who overlooks all of this shittery and has fucking dozens of servers to manage - do we want someone that inattentive as server admin? This is someone who was so inactive as a mod - because they were moderating/owning many other servers, that they were going to be unmodded by Lewdton. Doesn't it speak volumes that they came screaming back when they were threatened with removal? Then there's fclss and co, who actively cause shittery on the borderline of the rules, whose relationship with anongrill makes it impossible to be permabanned or draw any moderative action. And finally, there's namu and co, who thrive on this shittery, and make posts on discord, the thread, and ingame to get reactions from all of the involved parties and to watch it blow up. Of these three, one is our server owner, and another is a moderator who wants attention and influence along with his retard basement cronies. You won't get rid of fclss and co or make them resemble human beings and not /b/tards while the first two groups are around.

Anongrill will ignore their shenanigans and refuse to take action as usual, namu and co will fan the flames and make everyone hate eachother for shits and giggles, and fclss and co will continue to act like shits.

>but nobody is modcalling
We try to self moderate. We try real hard. But at some point, mods needs to step in.
>>
>>179771707
An anon after my own fucking heart, you are.

>I'm just saying why the fuck are we allowing toxic people into the game who does nothing to contribute and cause more trouble then they're worth?
Because at every level of those three groups I mentioned, the people thrive on the drama. The admins, that one mod and his fucking circus of followers, and the fclss nigger strikeforce - all of them. And they will do everything they can to make sure it continues. They don't care. It's their fun.
>>
>>179771978
I'm just getting sick of circlejerkiness of it all. ERP being banned in public shouldn't have a been rule, it should have been common fucking sense. But because a small group of people can't handle their autism now we all have to deal with it. I hate how you can't criticize the tranny for his life choices but when some schizo who manages to out-autist all of us it's time to start a hate campaign against them. If they had just done what they did and people teased them a little bit I would have assumed they're just another Verin and wanted attention.

But I saw the conversation that happened in contact-c and honestly the mods share at least a small part of the blame for ALLOWING this to get as big as it has, by blaming the person who RPs as a fucking psychic for getting fclss's bad side when they KNOW how he gets. I know it's 4chan and we're all rude and crude and people should adapt to our culture but what this incident does is set a precedent. We're a group of maybe 30 people that are trying to play this shirt every day, we have to learn to live each other, and being civil and the mods enforcing that civility is part of that.

It isn't even partly that psychic RPer's fault that it got to this: They trusted fclss far too much and fclss even blatantly lies in their face that he is trustworthy even she asks whether or not he can be trusted. They're dense, but that doesn't mean we should take advantage of their naivety. fclss instigating shit isn't fair to the mods either: They really want no part of this drama as well and what some of them want is just for people to have fun in the case, and leave them the fuck alone.
>>
>>179773465
But that's funny, so it's a good thing. I'm happy not to tick you off so much.

>>
>>179773704

>>
>>179772593
>I'm just getting sick of circlejerkiness of it all.
Buckle in, it's a safe bet it'll probably get worse.

>it should have been common fucking sense.
Absolutely. We're a blue board game. This is a safe for work game. There's nothing dirty here. There's places online better suited for it. It was unthinkable at the start. I think these people just like coming here because they know people don't like it and it goes unenforced.

I hate to keep prattling on about that Manfred main, but he didn't used to do this that much. The reason for it, is because he's in good company - not a lot of people, but a small number, and they follow him about, they all tell eachother what area they're going to, and they all help eachother to shit the place up. It's inconspicuous when people tell their friends they're casing in an area, but when it's troublemakers, it amplifies the problem. More shittery, more bullying of hapless server visitors of different server cultures, more ERP.

>honestly the mods share at least a small part of the blame for ALLOWING this to get as big as it has,
I think that this inadvertantly implies mitigation of blame. I think all three parties are equally guilty. But I'd like to distinguish between mods who are totally apathetic, mods who would help if they weren't suffering pressure, and a mod called Namu who enjoys watching the world burn. There's a clear problem with the server management, no matter how you cut it, tho

>we have to learn to live each other, and being civil and the mods enforcing that civility is part of that.
I agree, there's no reason why we can't get along. But the fact is, we have an absurdly tiny permaban list. It's made almost exclusively of age offenders. Compared to other servers' banlists, ours is very much a joke. Most of these people if not all, would be permabanned on other servers.

I don't mind the silly dirtyness in cases, like Mr. XXX, because obviously that's all done for jokes, but not roleplaying degenerate and often disgusting sex acts publically, especially in places not designed for idle chatter like arcade, should be basic fucking common courtesy.

>I think all parties are equally guilty
While I don't believe in some grand conspiracy, I agree. Psychicbitch made herself a target and constantly blamed the wrong people (though she was led to do so by fclss), fclss himself is a shitter, and the mods generally took their own side rather than doing what they SHOULD have been doing and trying to get the most robust opinion on the situation as possible. I talked to a few mods and they basically gave the most biased answers possible in regards to the situation.

>We have a tiny permaban list
Because of what >>179773918 said, people want to 'self-moderate' because they don't want to actually have to have any responsibility. Lewdton's biggest flaw was fucking up updates constantly, but most people liked him because he remained fairly active and when he was called to moderate the situation was usually resolved drama-free. Our current mods barely do anything unless called, and mostly just spout biased blame as Word of God.

nah. We used to be bigger than /ss13vg/ at the start. Our permalist should be as big. As it stands, the trash sticks around for a bit, makes people leave, and then gets bored and fucks off to greener pastures before it breaks our fucking barren rulelist in a grandiose way for our blindbat administration to notice. fclss and his crew will be fucked off in a few months again, ERPing in second life or some shit, I don't fucking know. >>
>>179775126
We'd have a bigger banlist if mods bothered to flesh out those fucking rules and stuck to enforcing them. Only one mod has a hard stance on bans and everyone actively shits on them for it because it's too harsh and muh self-moderation.

>"when the mods lose their patience."
That is exactly how it is.

When push comes to shove, there's confusion, flipflopping, multiple mods on scene who ask lots of confusion but fail to take action even after serious rulebreaking is identified. It's only when they're in fits of rage do they do something like kick people - and that's often in instances where permabans would be justified to most people's minds. To get a permaban, do you need to go up to a mod, and spend days cussing out their moms or something? fuck me, shit's weird

>>179775569

There's a line between banter and this "witch hunting" crap that's hard to determine, and that's why they should call a mod. Than the mods can say something and it is made clear to stop doing it. Silence won't let anyone know to stop.
>>
>>179776484
I'm just really sick of the drama. But this has gone past just drama now. This is now a full issue with the modding team. Anongrill shouldn't be head mod, Namu needs to get off his ass, Turt should be less biased.

So who should be mod? Fuck if I know, but I miss Lewdton.

They're told privately all the time when things piss people off. Do they do things about it? Rarely, if at all.

It's like anon said before, they only take action when they themselves have lost control.

>>179777045
The issues with the modding team have built up over the different administrations, I think. I wouldn't be so quick to miss Lewdton, personally. Anongrill simply lit the fuse to the bomb that Lewdton and Lupa added powder to. Or was it the wave of shitters that lit the fuse, and Anongrill just listened to the sound her servers made as it burnt its way down?

What faceless is doing is wrong according to the witchhunting rule:

>Sebastian: Because you coddled them so much...
>Jezail: I now see why Rhoda is so edgy with this character.
>Connor: But I'm trying my darndest here to free the chains.
>Sebastian: So let me get this straight.
>Connor: It's a work in progress and it'll probably escalate

>Franziska: Naive but I find it admirable that he held to it

>Jezail: But now, the view of the server to them changed.
>Franziska: Yup
>Sebastian: HE DOES IT FOR FREE
>Franziska: Namu was doing a good jobbu

Basement some hours ago, Faceless is connor who of course had 3 other people and Namu to help him. All they had to do is bring the IP and sper thing when nobody was even talking about that.

And just in case someone still thinks it won't be affecting cases, one of them who just learned about acme's autistic RP was asking about the sper stuff during and after the case "Terra" was judging.

If I was drinking coffee, I'd have fucking choked. You know the admin team fucking sucks, when you consider that a single person from the other side of the fucking world, who will literally be sleeping during prime time, would do a better job as a moderator than the entire current moderation team.

Namu baffles the fuck outta me, though. He was modded by Lupadim for fuck knows what reason, Lewdton keeps him (I remember the shitter saying "Lewdton will listen to me". The fuck was that about?).

If you read any of this shit, you'd know that we've tried talking. Nothing ever changes. Rules aren't made and adhered to because we have idiots moderating who work off of feelings, and only do things when they're pissed - or in Adam's case, literally pissed drunk..

>someone fucks up, causes a big stink
>people get pissed properly, it can't be brushed under the carpet because everyone knows about it
>trivial changes are made
>the bureacracy survives

We've done this every administration at least once, if not twice or thrice. You're inviting me and others to talk to Anongrill about changes that will damage her friendships with shitlords, or to talk to the small number of mods that do care about things only to watch them be drowned out by the majority of other shitters.

>I know for a fact you haven't hashed out anything with all the mods.
If you want to discuss something, discuss it here, publicly, and not behind shadowy PMs in Discord, or in your fabled inner mod discord. You bully people who really just wants to enjoy themselves in this server for no reason, and you blatantly break rule 3f. ALL you needed to do was leave them alone. They want to have fun on this server, LET THEM BE. Just because they're weird as fuck doesn't give you any right whatsoever to choose who gets to be on the server and who doesn't. Don't pretend to be like some kind of martyr trying to free us from Acme. They can be dense at times, but that doesn't mean you should take advantage of them. You're scum of the earth, a faggot with a manipulator complex: You don't hesitate to blatantly lie and witchhunt people for petty reasons. Your whole plan is to make the Acme players basically do things that the whole server will dislike, and therefore everyone will shun them and force them to leave. I don't believe you deserve a place in this community, and the community will be better off without you.

Becoming mod won't solve a thing. Our administration is deeply flawed. You'll just be dissolved in it. The only solution is to burn it down and start over, or we'll run these cat and mouse games for a few more months until the place gets so toxic it gets quarantined as a hazard to human life, or end up like the CC or VLS servers, casing once a month because everyone is gone or more interested in other things.

>>
>>179784234
Out of all the mod's to do anything if someone calls them about fclss, I think Gina would be the most likely, followed by bro, to do anything. Gina has shown to be strict and not allowing rule breaking while bro was the one who told fclss to fuck off and stop in the contact discord. Turt might help but I doubt it. Maybe we can contact Ginamod about it when fclss does something?
>>
>>179784173
I mean, I don't like Namu trying to deal with this alone either but Bro would have just exploded right there in the c-contact otherwise.
>>
>>179783732
As a mod, though? The issue is that anongrill sets the rules, as did Lewdton and Lupadim before himher, and that the other moderators (no doubt because they were appointed by slackers) are slack. Adding yourself to the mix (if they were to make randomly appoint you) just means you'll just as quickly lose your post when they decide you're too different (ie, proactive as opposed to meek, ineffectual, counterproductive) to them. How will you burn that down?

They volunteered, so they should have some enthusiasm for it, but they don't for some reason. They definitely shouldn't sit on their hands every time we make modcalls, offering meek responses of "don't do it again".

>>179784234

>What should I do in this situation? Oh no, they're asking me via pm, now, too, I'm not sure, I'll get another mod to help.
There's no difference between that, and someone being deliberately malicious like Namu and making you hammer the modcall button until a non ESL human shows up.
>>
>>179784595
Gina has been the most consistent mod, they care more about enforcing rules than being liked for giving people a million second chances.

>>
>>179784595
Anongrill is quite literally useless. She has no love for the server and is playing obvious favorites. 90% of the updates, and even the case contest are handled by a non-mod. The amount of times Namu has even done something can probably be counted on one hand. Gina is shitposted at near Verin like levels. The other two are too new to be trusted.

bro at least is completely honest and calls out the bullshit as he sees it
acmebitch had no right to go out of her way to shittalk namu because fclss told her namu wasn't going to help, especially when multiple people told her not to trust fclss
fclss had no reason to stir the pot and drag specifically the mods into the drama when if he wanted people to listen to acmebitch he could have just linked the public discord that everyone goes to and shitposts the mods right there anyway
i agree namu really shouldn't have exploded in their server after, if anything he should have unloaded in the lounge and arcade since fuucking everyone knows the source anyway

>>
I think a large issue with the moderation team is that the Discord has become quite the ivory tower and literally anything said in the thread is dismissed as
>lol thread
which is unproductive as all hell. The fact that you have our admins and moderators all in a little clubhouse with their friends and the ONLY way to "contact" them is to do so in a private setting where they can promptly ignore you is ridiculous. Say what you will about Lupadim but at least when shit blew up like this in the thread he threw on a fucking trip and took that shit head-on. Compare that to what we have now -- everything about moderation is learned second or third hand through the fucking grapevine from buttbuddies of the moderators telling their buddies who disseminate whatever little knowledge we ever get among the server. It's getting ridiculous.

>>
>>179807346
The only real reason is to prove that the person who said that is on the moderator team, which puts them under more scrutiny when what they say is weathered in public.

Here, they can be held non-accountable since, if they do not use a trip, they can just be another anonymous. I could be a mod for all you know - The point is that you don't know, here, whether or not I am a mod.

discord, contact-c or on 4chan* for the last line
>>
>>179807754

4chan:
>a common platform everyone uses in the game
>moderators cannot attack someone's credibility based on who they are since everyone's anonymous, they have to address their argument
>moderators cannot ban users or delete messages

Discord:
>forced identity means ad-hominem and circlejerking is a factor
>issues are weathered either in front of the mod team and their buddies or in private with just the mod team, rather than in public
>users can be banned, muted, or kicked with impunity, messages can be deleted

Besides this you're being obtuse on purpose. My issue is literally "the Discord has become an ivory tower and the mod team acts like anyone outside it is a pleb who doesn't deserve to have an opinion, leading to zero transparency whatsoever" and your supposed solution is basically "just go to the ivory tower and stop being a pleb".

No, actually, how about the moderation team explain something, for once, in public, without everyone having to hear it second or third hand?
>>
>>179808162
*breaths in*

how will you prove that they're mods without enforcing identities, or hearing it from contact-c?

UNTIL they do that, there's no requirement for them to do shit - the suggestion I am giving is to ENFORCE that what they say and do is heard on a public platform, again, UNTIL they come up with another method, like a tripcode.

It's just some way to do something instead of sitting on your hands wishing for them to come down from high above - pull them down here instead by your own two hands.
>>
>>179808275

>how will you prove that they're mods without enforcing identities, or hearing it from contact-c?

Fucking. Tripcodes. Literally just paste their trips in the main document. Boom. Problem solved. No discord is necessary.

>UNTIL they do that, there's no requirement for them to do shit - the suggestion I am giving is to ENFORCE that what they say and do is heard on a public platform, again, UNTIL they come up with another method, like a tripcode.

I could, but I also don't care enough to harass the moderation team until they start wising up. I offer my two cents as a better way to moderate -- if they can't puzzle out that simply ignoring everyone's discontent won't work and it takes everyone but the discord types leaving to convince them, who am I to coddle them on their way to decency?

I know damn well they all read the thread anyways, so there's my two cents on the issue.
>>
>>179809052
I guess we both have varying opinions that are valid by their own merit.

Motherfucking 4chan.
>>
>>179809165
Not the same person, but there is an issue with shitty moderation.

The fact they did not give an official statement on here or even in the discord is telling signs they don't give much of a rat's ass.
>>
>>179809165

A great thing, if you ask me. Which is why I just wish we used this forum more effectively.

Plus keeping it bumped is always nice.
>>
>>179806551
>Say what you will about Lupadim but at least when shit blew up like this in the thread he threw on a fucking trip and took that shit head-on.
He did. He actually maintained a presence. We felt like we had an admin. With Lewdton, it was
>does he only come out of his cave to buy beer and shitpost in lounge with that twink neet fuck Machi?
and with anongrill it's
>does he/she/xir only come of its cave to shitpost in the arcade or their other servers and to enable ERP with people?

Our moderation now is the kind of cop who sees someone getting beaten up and mugged in the streets and says
>report it, lmao, or I can't do anything!
or they're sitting in the station eating donuts and doing jack shit.

>>179809052
>Fucking. Tripcodes. Literally just paste their trips in the main document. Boom. Problem solved. No discord is necessary.
I agree. Further, I think Discord was never necessary. The community dosedived after idling in discords became the norm. I also suspect the mods are idling in discord because they can't hear the ringtone from there.
>We're moderators, but we're not moderating the game.
>I'm the server admin, but I also run fucking half of the servers in the game and work as a cashier

It's a shit state of affairs.

>>179809396
Whispering to eachother in the safety of their internal discord, probably. Giving eachother lots of positive reinforcement, as always.
>>
>>179809396

Yeah, that's basically my issue. Anything, literally any kind of word or statement on this from the moderation team would beat complete silence and opaqueness but they won't do it. For thick-skinned anons and AO vets, they seem really scared of actually fucking engaging us without identities and a circlejerk to back them up.

>>179809771

>He did. He actually maintained a presence. We felt like we had an admin.

This. Three hundred thousand percent this. Lupadim fucked up, a lot, but holy hell he actually answered when people called him out on his shit. He explained his reasoning. He engaged even us lowly anonymous peasants. I haven't met either of the moderators after him. I don't see them around. Maybe they case incognito like Lupa, but I highly fucking doubt it. Anongrill has literally posted, what, twice in the thread? Mostly to ironically shitpost about people who insulted her, if I recall correctly.
>>
>>179777335
>>Phoenix: This whole situation will probably get shitposted on the thread, then I'll now what's happening.
This was me, and I still don't know what's going on.
>>
>>179810649

>Phoenix: This whole situation will probably get shitposted on the thread, then I'll now what's happening.

Honestly this is exactly what was being discussed. Say what you want about namefag shitposting but it's literally the only way non-discord fags can get info about anything regarding our shadowy-ass mod team.
>>
>>179806997
Irrelevant.

It's completely unfair to ignore the often valid comments and concerns brought up by the thread just because it occasionally shitposts.
>>
>>179811304

The worse element to this is that the mods have openly admitted to shitposting in the thread as well. They disregard all anons opinions because "lol shitposters" and then shitpost themselves in the thread. The cognitive dissonance must be mindblowing.

The mod discord exists so that you can contact us directly. And i have always implored everyone that if you have specific issue with people to contact me directly.

>But of course you wont, because this outrage is propagated by your fake outrage and lies is entirely fabricated and founded upon a house of cards

This is literally the attitude being referred to. You know these are the denizens of your server, right? We all fucking recognize that shitposting occurs in the thread. But you dismiss everything that's said outside of the discord because of that? Fuck off. No one is insisting you do anything but speak in some kind of public format.

What the fuck is going on with ACME? What the fuck is going on with allowing ERP? You have someone directly accusing a mod of harassing a player where they named a specific fucking date and case. Chatlogs, while easily falsifiable, are being posted with no response from you guys. You dismiss it all under "it's all lies! Fake news!" while insisting that everyone either one-on-one with you or learn whatever the fuck's going on by talking with someone who went one-on-one with you. The issue is everything is learned second- or third-hand and it's what results in this stupid fucking drama.

>>
>>179814896
I don't.
>>179814931
It's god damn stupid on everyone's accord. First of all, you got people trying to single people out because they wanted to come check out another server, and alienate and fucking attack them to the point where they throw a god damn shitfit, which gives the shitposters an excuse to start shitposting harder, which further agitates them, until you get like what you saw earlier with furries and horrifying images and fucking chaos. It's madness. It's stupidity. It's people being fucking stupid, and they need to learn when to stop. Acme is not our server, but they're part of the server group. Attorney Online isn't some clique hangout group where we insult eachother all day, it's a bunch of servers that all love Ace Attorney, and we should all be respectful to one another, even if we lack the common fucking courtesy to act pleasant towards one another. Holy shit, jesus christ. You'd think we'd be on the fucking Big Brother chatzone.

On the otherhand, fclss knows he's being a shitter, and frankly just needs to stop what the fuck he is doing. I'm already having a chat with him off and on, and we're getting places, especially with open criticisms and complaints from other players so that everything can actually be fucking addressed without people playing 'smoke and mirrors' and 'he said she said he said'.

>>179781932

As a matter of fact, you're not even a moderator, I bet. Use your actual mod name.
>>
>>179815149
I should answer, I dunno what the fuck is up with Acme except that people love fucking with them. They're literally just a small community of friends who like Ace Attorney, which is just like how /aov/ started. The only reason we've got so big is because we're 4chan based and rule-set, but people who don't even go to 4chan have started playing on our server because we're the biggest and the best, because we try to be as fair as possible. This is where the last-resort ban thing comes in. Most of the time, it helps to be reasonable with people. We all have bad days, and this is a game. People come to have fun, to relax, to take the ease off. Some people liek shitposting, even though it's against the rules, we understand that. But if it's disruptive, we put a nix to it. We're trying to be fair, but recently?
I've lost my fucking patience.
>>
>>179815315

This is exactly why I wanted an official and public response from moderators. As it stands, before this all we knew about your guys' policies is LITERALLY "he said she said" shit. So thanks.

As for ERP, are we ever going to get a hardline about it? As it stands it seems like "depending on who's moderating, it's either ding dong bannu or totally fine" which is counter-intuitive to say the least. Hopefully anongrill can answer this or some shit. "hurr i'm going to ignore the thread because they're just shitposters haha now let's get back to shitposting on the discord"

Adam is one of our most experienced mods, in both life and as a server mod. We should give him some clout.
>>
>>179814770
Do you think ANYONE who targeted the Acme people should be banned or just fclss, if bans have to be hammered out..
Do you think "regret" matters in this case of bullying them or not.
Do you think the people who just wanted to avoid the drama in the first place, of which there are many who outright say so in CLIENT, should have to expose themselves because certain people want to make a point because the thread exists?
Can my tone be any more obvious?
>>
>>179816168

>>
>>179816073
>>179815812

He doesn't even know what ACME really is, Adam thinks its just "a place with a small community of friends and we, the evil 4chan community, are not being welcoming" when we all know (except him because he barely knows what is even up with this community) that is just 1 or 2 autistic users roleplaying as many people, being attention whores (talking about periods, being espers, having kids or whatever, making drama for no reason, making up LIES about why they share an IP, and virtually everyone already knows its just one person with big imagination), but Adam just wants to be the "Im such a fair judge, you guys are evil, this people i barely know have preference over my own community because we dont want to be a """""circlejerk"""" ". He does this all the time when new autistic cancer people join here or the discord.
>>
>>179816168
Anongrill is responsible for our server, and that's it. We run the masterserver, but we have no control over the other servers. We have like, a community discord for the moderators and administrators of other servers to make sure that all of them aren't getting fucked up or ddosed or anything, and I can tell you that Anongrill does not manage, or even visit, any other servers, but she does know the owners and moderators of those servers, and keeps up with things like 'international' shitposters, people with shitty behavior, complaints about other servers. Which is why this probably got so much attention in the first place, because there was a complaint filed directly to us. Then the shitposters caught wind of it, and now here we are.

I want to ban ERP, but some people think it's funny, and that they'll be able to shitpost the ERP to death. That is literally the only reason ERP is not banned. Memes.
>>
>>179816376

>Why dont you mind your own damn business? Anongrill is on the server every day. She can moderate it just fucking fine and any other server she's moderating is none of your damn concern

Calm down there, white knight. I am literally only interested as far as it applies to my autistic lawyer simulator. I'm not attacking your girlfriend. DrunkMod's offering answers and I'm just asking questions.

Captcha: LONDON
>>
The mod we actually need here is Namu. Not because he is a good mod but bacause he took this situation alone for retarded reasons so he is pretty much the only informed one.
>>
>>179814770
Adam, what is going to be done about all the rampant Verin posting, he will not be doing a damn thing wrong and people will crawl up his ass, build a yurt and set it on fire. Why is our witchhunting rule not enforced? It may not bother him as much to be shit on, but as a concerned player, it bothers me.
>>
>>179814682
Anongrill can't be trusted because of her relationship with the perpetrators. I don't give a shit if she says that she doesn't care or that she's not actually that close with them. Her position makes her biased by default.

Namu is legitimately a bad moderator who only ever comes on to shitpost at people and say "b-but I QC all the updates. I'm useful!" If Anongrill left and Namu got left with this shit, I would start a poll to vote him out of Head Admin. This last event is proof that he can't do his jobs.

Gina and Adam weren't around, so I can't really blame them.

Clovo and Bro also were unaware of the full situation, but from what it sounds like they were contacted casually at one point and gave answers that made them seem disinterested, so people actually trying to get this shit sorted were discouraged from contacting the mod team again.
>>
>>179816280
He doesn't care, he just thinks he can solve stuff by saying stuff we already know.
"Dont ERP and I wont allow it but Im barely active anymore unless you call mod so I wont do shit"
"Dont be mean to the newbies from another server even though they are autistic attention whores who start drama :("
"Underage people get a ban"
>>
>>179814770
If a mod is just sitting in the area watching a person get targeted specifically for over an hour, while doing nothing but saying "i'll contact anongrill so you can talk to her", that mod should be chewed out and on serious thin ice.

However that's not what happened with namu, in fact you have people saying he handled it correctly.

And then a few days later he went to their server to yell at them for "manipulating him"

Namu has been a horrible mod for almost the entirety of his run and it's always being played off as a meme, but it's really unacceptable. It's like we have one less mod.

That shit still pisses me off, it was pretty much the worst way to resolve the situation and reeked of rehearsed theatrics.

Namu was LITERALLY THERE IN THE LOUNGE and said jack shit while it was happening, just vague filler about getting anon to come to the lounge and talk to Miles.
>>
>>179816625
Or, you know. We like to handle disciplinary matter privately, and not take a whip to Namu's back like they're a slave who's disobeyin' massa.
We're a group of volunteers who do this for no other reason than to try and make this game fun for everybody. That includes people not in our server and people in our server. There's no 'competition', there's no 'rivalry'. It's just what it is, man.
>>
>>179816625
>It's like we have one less mod.
It's worse than that. Namu's not 0 mod, he's -1 mod. Most of the time when he "acts" he makes matters worse.

This is just a high profile example of how someone who literally never cases shouldn't be a mod.

>>179816728

I agree with this poster pretty much to a T.

Anon is too involved and should probably recluse herself. For fucks sakes the only reason fclss sits on bonny in the arcade is so he can RP with anon and call her sis whenever she's on, it's pathetic.

Namu did just about the opposite of what he should have at every point

Gina and Adam were not there.

Clovo and Bro were not in the lounge, but did see the contact-c debacle. They didn't have full context so they think namu did the right thing.
>>
>>179816932

>>179816673

I was not baiting and I'm pretty sure he was not baiting. If he was, whatever, I bit. In all honesty it's pretty fucking easy to differentiate legitimate posts and shitposts, and the only reason to pretend that the entire thread is shitposts is so that you can dismiss the legitimate posts as well.

>>179816443

>>179816932

>>
>>179816836
He actually dipped out of the lounge once to not have to deal with them, I checked getarea.
>>
>>179817094
My only complaint is when Turt/Clovo and bro go into the Discord and say "why you all start retarded drama, why are you all so retarded?"

Because it gives the impression that they are disinterested and want you to just ignore it and let it blow over.... except then when it doesn't blow over and it gets bigger, and you actually make some attempt to get it dealt with, they shoot the messenger and say "why the fuck are you bringing this to my doorstep? I don't want to hear about this. You're all so fucking stupid." Which makes people not want to try and get drama solved.

Sometimes the only way this stuff gets solved is not by blaming the people who actually want it to be solved.
>>
>>179816904
I would understand this sentiment if this was Namu's only time fucking up, but namu has always been incomptent

So much so that it's an in-joke, haha a cute endearing character trait.

Namu is way too passive at times to discipline others, and way too volatile to represent our server.

If the community is not allowed to raid other servers in the name of AOV, then WHY THE FUCK CAN OUR MOD DO IT?
>>
>>179816904
>and not take a whip to Namu's back
If he wasn't a mod, he'd have earned a large number of warnings, kicks and bans over the years for shitposting, griefing and raiding.
>>
>>179817094
As someone who saw the full context, Namu did the right thing. Bro was even about to go full bullying on Sally on the discord and started saying he had "some kind of mental problem". Namu stopped it and talked in a more mature way.

The problem is that Sally is just an autistic individual making up stories and pretending to be many users (they have 1 IP, when one leaves concidentally another one joins and they all have the same knowledge in stuff that happens, they even make up lies that were proven to be lies in there).
The users were just talking and Sally got angry and started being picky about stuff they were talking about, mainly the IP issue. Its not the first time, last time in basement and lounge she kept asking people to NOT PLAY MUSIC, because it made her ears bleed, even if she muted her computer her esp powers had some high frecuency hearing or some bullshit.
Thats just way too much, they really can't understand our community and are very snowflake-y.

Fclss though, is also a piece of shit because he kept instigating Sally to attack Namu and elevated the whole thing, when it could be solved with just talking.

Turtowar said it best: "You have 3 options: Ignore them, leave, or adapt to our community. The second is probably the best".

Im just tired of seeing all these ACME apologists acting like what Namu did was unprofessional, when he did the best he could do.

Both ACME and fclss need help.
>>
>>179817126
I feel that Namu should have been more patient with people that contacted them. I used to work in customer service, and you are required to be patient with anyone who has a grievance no matter how they treat you.

I was told of the situation by the mods that handled it, but I haven't made a conscious effort to see what ACME's server is like if that's what you mean. I personally don't think what ACME did matters, as nothing can excuse goading and tricking people then acting like it's they're fault for being ignorant about how we act.

>>179817228
It was post-case banter. The verdict was honestly baffling, and I was giggling a bit at the absurdity of it since I really felt like I would have gotten a guilty.

Contrary to popular belief, I don't hate Verin. We settled that.

>>
Considering there's another moderator here and I'm literally taking time out of my ACTUAL REAL LIFE JOB at the busiest time of the year (the end), I'll be back later to ask more questions. @ this and I'll answer them one by one when I pop back on.

>>179817385
Namu may take on a more passive role, but that's their choice to do so. They prefer the route of attempting to take people aside and try and resolve their differences in a meaningful, pleasant way rather than smash that muthafuckin' ban button. There's always more going on behind the scenes that is evidently present, with what the four different communication platforms- PM, Discord, Steam, Skype, ect ect ect.
Please try to take into account that if Namu was actually as imcompetent as they pretended to be, then a lot of positive moderator activity wouldn't have happened. I've seen first hand, being basically the oldest moderator now (besides anongrill) that everyone else has fucking died, that Namu does a legitimately good job, and in fact is a great deal more paranoid about people causing trouble than most of us. Your idea that they are incompetent is hilariously incorrect, and only proves that you have absolutely no god damn fucking idea what the fuck you're talking about.

I will agree that telling/discouraging bro from yelling at Sally was the right call.

That being said, Namu should not have tried to handle the discord conversation on his own, in public. I think that was a vain dickwaving display.

If namu wanted to handle the situation privately, at any point he could have done so.

>should have been more patient

This has been something that was escalating over 2-3 months where pretty much every day they contacted him in public or in private. They also have recently had the wool pulled in front of their eyes by a specific person who encouraged Sally to yell at the mods in the discord and gave her the link to do so, who has manipulated ACME into thinking that Namu is garbage and that he would make a much better mod despite the fact that he is in the center of every single attack instigated against every single person from ACME, including the posting of a photo of one of them.
>>
>>179818368
The case involved a sniper rifle murder.

Bullet casings were found right next to the body.

Anyone who has ever seen a movie with guns will know that casings are ejected from the gun itself, which makes the murder nonsensical. I assumed that the builder or the prosecution would have had an answer for that which would have turned the case into a more close range mystery. I was "smug" because I was the defense attorney and I had just found a contradiction that completely absolved my client.

I'm not entirely sure what I was supposed to do with that contradiction. If I ignore it I would be called stupid for not pointing out something so obviously wrong, but if I did I would be accused of derailing the case.

Here's a question that I'd like the both of you, as well as the other moderators if they'll pop in the thread like you have, to answer:

Just how far is going too far with regards to people from Acme? When Esper powers are brought up and I go "Holy shit are you autistic? You aren't from a goddamn video game and FF6 isn't real life" would that be cause for moderator intervention? (Note: I personally believe this is about equivalent to calling someone retarded for thinking the girl who only wants him for free pizza is madly in love with him, or calling someone an idiot for making and defending a case with inherently flawed logic such as >sniper casings beside the victim)
Assume that someone other than the person calling them delusional initially brought up the Esper thing.
Is telling them that I'd be willing to have a 'good time' with them if they private messaged me something that should be taken action against?
What about relaying information about things said in public in area A to people in area B?
What do you constitute to be within the boundaries of the rules, and what against the rules?
Obviously things like following them to area C when they leave area A and continuing to harass them through both areas would be 'targeting them' but what about going to area A when someone says in area B "Acme in A"? What if you have clients open in A and C from the start?
>>
>>179820106
One thing I am seriously getting sick of:
"Why aren't you handling this correctly, pay attention when I'm involved with the drama because I know how it all went down without me, why aren't you listening to me who did nothing wrong?"

Harassment is harassment, and I don't believe that what people believe somehow justifies them being targeted, tricked, and otherwise goaded.

People are free to make comments about what they believe, it's 4chan after all and some vitriol is to be expected. But when you actively track someone down for the purposes of figuring out their identity to make comments about how awful they are or what they believe is, then that's crossing a line.

Having a "good time" with them is something left to your discretion, as we don't have rules against ERP.

Telling people about another area is also not against the rules, but doing so for the purposes of trying to get other people to harass a person in question is.

I think I've illustrated what I believe to be the boundaries of the rules are and what's against the rules. If I need to clarify something, feel free to ask.

Telling people "ACME in A" heavily depends on context. You can tell someone that a good player is in another area so other people can go to watch. If you say something to the effect of "ACME in A, let's mess with them," then that's blatantly targeting someone.

Having two clients open isn't against the rules, since nobody can see the future.
>>
>>179821164
Here's one question that I genuinely want a non-shitposting response to. fclss has claimed that he looked up the IPs of the ACME players in order to prove that they were multiclienting in a case without permission, therefore breaking the rules. Was this ever brought up to the mod team before, and is there proof that they shared IPs?
>>
>>179821371
What the fuck are you TALKING about?
>>
>>179821371
This is the first I've heard of that.
>>
>>179821498
It's a combination of a bunch of different things. Turtowar and Bro confirmed that at least 3 people from Acme have the same IP and said "do with that as you will" so fclss took that as an opportunity to shitpost about them at his leisure.
>>
>>179821371
Never heard of that.

He's heard from moderators that terra/whoever have the same IP as Leo.
>>
>>179820985
I'll talk with you anon. Would you like to discuss how we should kill off detectives?

>>179821649
Okay. That makes more sense. Still, if that's the case shouldn't Amanda and Terra have gotten warning for multi-clienting? Or is that something that also happened?
>>
>>179821834
Well

Two of them claim they have the same IP because they live together.

And I don't know... if you can specifically disprove that...
>>
>>179822017
IP addresses aren't the only things mods can see to prove whether people just live together or if they're on the same computer.
>>
>>179822017
But that sounds like it should be followed up on. If someone claims that they aren't multiclienting a case and you are unsure as if that's true or not, is it the best idea to announce that they have the same IP to everyone else?
>>
>>179821834
The situation is confusing and even when fclss asked Bro he didn't know how to answer either.
They claim to be multiple people but then they also claim Terra is a esper, the only fact here is that they share the same IP.

The two people in question haven't given me any reason to doubt that they live together. That said, I wasn't present when the situation happened, so I honestly can't say I know how it went down exactly.

I would say that if they live together, they're under no obligation to tell people they have the same IP.
>>
>>179823168
the fact that when one starts speaking every other one of them goes quiet, and when one leaves another one joins, and that the one time one of them left the other one joined with the first one's username instead of their own name. i don't want it revealed in public, even if it proves they're breaking rules it should be handled in private with him/her, but i would like to request you check that thing mods can check to see if it's the same computer.
if it's not, i have no problems with them. it could still be someone with 2 laptops multiclienting but like with underaged people nobody could know unless they admitted theirself.
but if it's the same computer for multiple people at the same time and those people sign up for a case at the same time then that is against the rules because it's one person
>>
>>179824089
I know there is at least one instance where three of them signed up for a case of >mafia

Let's get the facts straight here.
Acme claims they have """"hacked"""" in Leo's laptop.
When asked to say it in a less retarded way they said that one of them altered the laptop of Leo so basically all of Sally's family and Amanda could use it remotely. How? Only answer was "it's not teamviewer". Why? To protect Terra for being an Esper and all that.

Unless I missed something and one of them said they actually live together.

It could legitimally be more than one person RPing and using someting teamviewer-like or actually live together but all taken into account makes me and of course to more people think it's just one person.
>>
>>179825393
Sally and Edward live together
Sally and Edward 'hacked' Leo's computer

The rest of the admins of Acme share the same IP.
That's... eight people who should not legitimately have any valid reason to how the fuck that works.
>>
>>179825516
I've argued that too, of course some people simply says "They are the same person if they have the same IP" and let it at that.
Regardless, there is still the matter of the Iris having the other Acme's username and the fact Sally spoke like she was who talked in Lounge, at least from what I heard from >fclss and co.
>>
>>179825183
If people knew it to begin with I agree. But when not 1 but 3 admins confirmed that many people from Acme had the same IP, it should have at least been acknowledged between the mods that yes they are the same person or no they are a bunch of people/one person with a bunch of computers

>>179825297
Yes, it's based on the hard drive installed on your computer.

>>179825393
>>179825516
I want to keep he said/she said out as much as possible, but I believe that Sally lives with her daughters, and Leo and maybe 1 or 2 others are the only ones who don't live with them. If someone who has stalked them and logged every conversation wants to chime in fclss with them claiming who lives with whom, now would be the ideal time to do so.
>>
>>179826008
And by that I mean, the first time Iris was bullied out and some hours before fclss gave them the mod discod invite respectively.
>>
>>179826029
I'm not disagreeing. I think the mods didn't do enough. Where's the part where they asked the ACME people if they were the same person? Why wasn't this handled or them given a warning? Why did the IP information make it to ANYONE outside of the mod team at all?

These are the key points I'm confused on.
>>
>>179826274
>Where's the part where they asked the ACME people if they were the same person?
that happened, was denied. Same as if you asked an undage if they're undage. Well, other than Badrok of course.

>Why wasn't this handled or them given a warning?
because "we're multiple people k"

>Why did the IP information make it to ANYONE outside of the mod team at all?
because imcompetent turto.
>>
>>179826274
>Why did the IP information make it to ANYONE outside of the mod team at all?
THIS I can answer as a random player because I directly saw what occurred.
Basically someone was complaining about them being the same person openly, as is what's happening now. But another person in the area explicitly asked the mod present to investigate as they had cased with them apparently. That's when the mod let it slip they had the same IP, and said they would check further.
But consider all we just talked about with how they can "have the same computer". There's no way to know anymore than what we do publicly, as the only ways Terra/Amanda/whatever can prove themselves different are by methods that need to remain private.
>>
>>179826518
>>179826274
To be fair, Turto said out loud the first time when we were being DOS'd and he was asking to anyone with a multiclient open to close it.
>>
So while I'm more clear about what happened with ACME now, how does any of this make fclss any less guilty?
>>
>>179827038
It doesn't, he thinks he is doing the best for the server by baiting them to do more retarded things until either they leave or do something ban worthy.
>>
>>179827038
If anything it only makes him more guilty. He's the one who has from the very beginning harassed and encouraged others into harassing them, has gathered information on them with which to do it with, has borderline doxxed them, and has justified all of it because of of an event that took place several weeks into his shenanigans where Leo discussed moderation things with his moderators, one of whom is Lynneposter, that involved fclss' IP DOSing their server which then got made public.
>>
>>179826918
I think a few mods did it during the ddos
>>
>>179827038
It really doesn't, only thing that can be debated is how many of the other people involved actually have culpability. Other people being Namu as a mod that may or may not have instigated shit by exploding at them in their own server; and people like Gato and Frozen who shitposted the ACME people on fclss's bait.
Which is actually hard since it loops back around fairly often to fclss' word, which can't be exactly trusted.
>>
>>179827686
>namu
Has a lot of responsibility seeing as he is a mod. The other mods should take a step back and objectively observe his actions to decide how to handle that.

>people like Gato and Frozen who shitposted the ACME people on fclss's bait
Judging by their words and the words in this thread, most people have realized they were in the wrong and regret dogpiling.
That's not an excuse for doing it however, but it wouldn't be fair to just dish out warnings to everybody who got involved in making fun of ACME's people since even the mods are guilty of such.
>>
>>179828098
I doubt they regret it.

>>179781932
>>179784187

fclss has pulled this shit before. What makes you think he really means what he says?

God, for being a game about solving mysteries, these evidences go over your heads.
>>
>>179828538
Gato regrets it, I know that much.
>>
>>179828098
Again, I make that point since I have only heard fclss word that he SAW Namu bitching in ACME's server. Not even Lynneposter, although she would have no reason to notice since according to fclss it happened after lynneposter stopped going to acme.

If it were just making fun of ACME's people casually I could understand. I know for a fact some players mocked them when they were casing with them once the esper shit came up.
But you shouldn't pass the buck unless it's a "line of responsibility". This is a server of adults for a reason, and if you have foreknowledge, you should take responsibility because you actually have it unlike people who were just caught up in the middle. You being used in a general sense of course.
Frozen and Gato, who in fact a lot more than most including Frozen, hang out in the Arcade often. They, unlike players who avoid the Arcade in general or just have been there a few times, are explicitly aware of fclss' bullshit. They shouldn't be given the same pass as others, although I will agree it's not fair to simply warn about making fun of ACME since even the mods do it. As making fun isn't really against the rules for anyone.
>>
>>179827686

>>
>>179829565
If you actually read what I said, you wouldn't be so defensive.
The fact of the matter is, they should know what to have expected, but did it anyway.
And I'm talking from the experience and conversation with both people who regularly go to the Arcade. People who should have known before the mod discord incident, before the third time of him letting people know they were in an area, before they watched fclss play devil's advocate no less, that he was out to get them and still went along with it. A few people who most likely regret how badly they were duped at this point when fucking Rhoda of all people make a point of saying what was near obvious to someone else is not an entire area. Yes, they ARE part of those few people, even if they don't like it and want to change it. And that is a good thing.

Because the dossing incident itself has been brought up as a point of contention in regards to fclss. Further, with other matters that have actually been addressed to me, I have spoken to and given verbal warnings for, after which I have not seen further transgressions requiring me to step up punishments. To several of the other points, I have only seen second hand complaints and/or innuendo, and when I have spoken to affected individuals personally the issues tend to be mass misunderstanding or misinterpretations of situations (dos situation being one such instance)

I'm hoping to make that clear. That's the reason why Adam and I decided to engage the thread more: to clear up misconceptions and encourage more on-topic discussion about the game and Ace Attorney in general.

Speaking of, DGS 2 screenshots were released recently. Look interesting, plus new characters. Someone described them as something from Big Top.
>>
>>179860603
It's a long time coming. I just hope that 1) it's not too late and 2) this actually makes tangible changes.
and I guess 3) that you don't just give up on this after a couple days.

I saw a comment earlier that I agreed with, in that there are no tripped mods actually discussing, clearing up and explaining some of these things, and I agreed with that.

Now, I stated I would speak in further detail on certain matters earlier, though it would seem quite a few of them were responded to by Adam and Gina...who for some reason is the new target of the day.

If you want further clarification, or answers to specific questions, I am more than happy to answer at this time.

As far as anons third point about giving up, I've actually assigned this task as part of moderation duties to Adam. If he wishes to step down I will assign another, so expect the thread to be monitored regularly by a moderator from now on.

Archibald Cronin (Doctor)
and other folders like this, could we please rename them to be something less obnoxiously lengthy?
There was an idea thrown around since before AO2 was a thing, to rename folders like these ones to the character's singular dominant name then to append modifiers afterwards to alternate variations. It happened to some, such as Miles, Trucy, etc. but still hasn't happened for Ryu Leg (folder should be renamed to Ryunosuke, then alternate versions such as Ryunosuke Witness or Ryunosuke DLCostume be named as such) and has gone in the opposite direction with this update.
Archibald and Archibald Casual
Roylott
Vortex (I think is his more used name.)
Matilda (is there even reason to have 2 folders for her?)

>ERP
ERP currently isn't against the rules.
While I don't personally believe in a ban on ERP, I'm not particularly against it either.
TBQH, I just don't care about it, and if the server is for it, fine.
Server's against it, Fine, this is what the vote was for, and had it passed I would have enforce it.
I don't ERP (despite the apparent popular belief spread on this very thread), so it doesn't really bother me either which way.
I don't really care what shitposters do in [idle] areas that aren't actually doing anything, though I would like to amend it so that it is banned from any casing/gaming area (arcade included) that isn't in the [idle] state.

>stalking
I need better evidence then that they play together or are in the same general area.
by those definitions I stalk Sigma every day. It's a rather small area, we are going to be around each other a lot.
If someone is feeling uncomfortable, and they feel the steps they've taken haven't solved the issue, they are more than welcome to come to me or any of my moderators that they feel more comfortable with.
I am more than happy to look into any incidents that may have malicious or ill intent behind them, but at that point, it's a bit more than just stalking, isn't it?

>Lack of vigor from the mods

I'm not so sure there is a lack of vigor.
A lot of the mods tend to like to air on the side of caution and deal with situations personally rather than just ban hammering and having a situation blow up.
It's all well and nice to say the moderation doesn't do anything, but I have personally seen communities self implode as a result of overzealous moderation, and that is something I am particularly keen on avoiding.
That said, I hear constant ragging on some of my mods that they "don't do anything", that I know full well work very hard to add content, moderate actual problems, maintain content standards and are always looking for ways to make the game better for your enjoyment...(continued...)

>moderating 10 servers

I do not moderate 10 servers. Don't even know where this came from.
I will correct one thing for the record.
I administrate AOV and SDRS, but my focus is almost squarely on AOV.
I am a moderator for ACME, but that is solely in that I assisted them in setting up their server and helping them get some of their content, and in the process they gave me their pass, so I'm a defacto mod for them. I do not, however, monitor or actually moderate for them in any real capacity.
Nor do I moderate for TFL anymore, and haven't for a very long time.

My primary focus has been and will continue to be to provide a safe and enjoyable environment in AOV for the multitude of people that exist within.
Not everyone is going to be happy with everything that is done.
Sadly that's just how it works sometimes, you can't make everyone happy, but you do try your best to make as many people happy as you possibly can.
>>
>>179863620

>though I would like to amend it so that it is banned from any casing/gaming area (arcade included) that isn't in the [idle] state.
Would like? You don't need permission from people to do that. Have some balls and just do it.

>A lot of the mods tend to like to err on the side of caution
That's very much the problem, though. We have lots of passive responses, but we as a community would greatly benefit from occasional bans and permabans. For a community this size, those two are not used enough. Compared to other online RP servers, we very rarely warn, kick, ban or perma. Why's that you ask?

Our ruleset is objectively garbage. Punishments aren't defined. I don't know really what it takes to get banned, personally, besides behave like Rhoda used to. Mods and people have no reference point to what they should do. A server ruleset is no different to the laws that govern you, it's just a matter of scale. It shouldn't be vague, greatly open to interpretation nor an outline of how good the server is dressed in stern speech. You shouldn't be able to get away with one form of bad behaviour because in the present mod's opinion, there's no cause for alarm, while another would ban immediately. You're all volunteers, of course, but that doesn't excuse this ridiculousness.

Sit down at some point draw up some proper rules based on what you want to see happen, and then attach penalties to breaking them. It shouldn't take that long. You have a rough draft already linked in the main doc. Consistent moderation is what cleanses toxicity.

>maintain content standards
Content standards have always been a joke. More recently, under you, Margeret as a character is okay, but what was uploaded was shit. The underlying problem with content standards is that things are very often passed over so as not to hurt people's feelings. Liquid is very guilty of this, being a good, soft and mushy person. He hesitates to not include work and to tell people to go away and redo their work.
>>
>>179867296
I prefer ERP getting banned as it is a video game and not fucking skype/discord/another private irc

>>179868889
Well we can't add any because "lol poll it" and besides the fact that we STILL don't have server polls or any kind of scheduled polling system (honestly I think polling should be done on one highly publicized day in a short time period as to get more people involved) and current polls are easily rigged, the polling is just too fucking inconsistent. It's damn near impossible to get anything passed, so if you're so unlucky to run a poll during a time period where no one gives a shit at all about voting your poll can fail on lack of votes alone.
>>
>>179867296

>go be lupa
No. If I want something, I'm going to have it polled properly. Sorry I don't just add content willy nilly. That's the way this server works, and I hold myself to those same standards.

>Rules

I'm sorry, but if we made our rules stricter (which defining does), we'd end up going on a ban spree. I don't think there are very many Vidya members who I personally wouldn't have banned in SDRS or in TFL when I moderated there. So please do not hold Vidya by those standards. Very different server and very different rule sets. I like flexibility.

The biggest problem I see and hear is people complain but do not actually contact moderation, and when they do and moderation fails to do their job, they don't contact the mod discord, or me directly, to deal with the problem.

Then I get people (as seen here just earlier) who "don't trust me" to straighten out my mod team when I see them make mistakes (which I've done before). To which I suggest they go make their own server, which they are free to do.
I'd even be more than happy to provide them the tools to do so.

I don't like telling people to shut up/get out if they don't like it, but if you have a problem but wont do anything to fix the problem because you don't trust the people who are in charge of fixing problems, there is very little that can be done for you.

Toxicity is also in the eye of the beholder. A large majority of the people I've seen consider the thread the most Toxic thing related to AOV.

>content standards

These are pretty variable. While I do want good standards, I'm not anal retentive about it. If stuff is bad, I expect people to use the power of their vote to deny or remove such content, or use the power of their creative mind to actually improve said content themselves.

Acceptable/Good content standard is variable from person to person, and what's acceptable to me might not be to you.

Why do rules even need to be polled when we have effectively none of them? The ruleset right now is just something for the mods to turn to to validate their actions after they've decided - they're not basing their decisions on it, because it doesn't tell them how to penalise people or what for. It just gives a vague reminder of right and wrong. It's their whim in written form, if anything.

>>179869313
And here's the refusal, right on time.

>standards.
Your standards have people namedropping in cases, purposefully crashing cases, ERPing publicly, and hounding people. They clearly aren't working. You inherited this mess from Lewdton, as he did from Lupadim, and you've done very little to change it. Hiring more mods is just placebo for something that does not work.

>please do not hold Vidya by those standards.
kek. I wasn't talking about your other servers. AO is simply not the only place where people RP online. Every other place of similar size that comes to mind, has a ruleset that delineates what's unacceptable, and some prescribe punishments. Some of the server's older mods already warmed to the idea, and you, the newcomer are firmly refusing? This is a good laugh. You made fun of Lupa, but he left the place in a better state than if he ditched us day two to murder eachother. Lewdton left the server in a much worst state than when he received it. You seem content to watch it rot from the arcade.

>>179869782
They want to give the shouting contests people hold in the basement and lounge a rubber stamp. It's really not that important.
>>
>>179869731
>Content Trial
Those have some flaws in them no matter how you do them, however I think the option of "Restrict the actual trial to 1-2 hours, record it, make the recording publicly available, have a moderator park a client in the basement named ContentBot and get the mods to /g or /gm every few hours: a short summary of what is to be added/removed, the link to the recording, to /pm ContentBot how they are voting."
would be the best.
Number of days for votes to count are mod's discretion but I would say at least 3 is a good baseline to adjust from after.
Then check the OOC logs to see the people who /pm'd ContentBot votes, remove duplicates from the same person, except the the most recent vote, and tally up.
No need for external sites like Strawpoll or Discord, and it gives people who can't be on AO 24/7 the opportunity to have their voice heard. Jurors, if used, would only be there to ask questions rather than to vote at the end.
If you see any problems that could arise from a setup like this, I'm more than happy to continue this discussion and find solutions.
>>
>>179870467
That's one of the reasons I'm not happy with the rules being there. The ones we do have barely exist and when something ACTUALLY bad happens, it's just "well it's not breaking the rules so my hands are tied."
>>
>>179869782
Some faggy trial type pitched by Verin, the mods told him like 3 times he was retarded about it, and now they want it.
Poor guy, people can't make up their minds about him.
>>
>>179870470
I think this is a very fair suggestion, desu, and will take into consideration definitely. I think Content trails still need to be tweaked, but I like this suggestion.
>>
>>179870617
>"well it's not breaking the rules so my hands are tied."
Or they issue a vague warning because they don't know how to handle the situation and they want to cover their asses and prevent people on the scene from saying "nothing was done".

The impression I'm getting is the fact that the reason that the admin likes the idea of self moderation so much, is because they're too much of a coward (or due to a combination of cowardice and laziness) to implement a specific actual ruleset. The mods themselves do want to moderate, but they're very limited in what they can do, because the current rules are laughably sparse and don't specify what they should do to offenders.

On Saturday, you could be banned for repeatedly shitting up a case with Portsman, and on Tuesday, someone will overlook the same offence. People are equally pissed, and the damage is equal, so why is the punishment so wildly different?

>I like flexibility.
A byword for people who don't like doing anything. Throughout the thread, there's been nothing but deflection

>That's the way the server works
You don't get to decide that, but also strawpoll everything else including server rules. That's hypocrisy. Surely as a player who's been here longer than you, I and others know how it works better?

>>
>>179873131
then you should probably wonder why people arent reporting stuff
>>
>>179873131
Try to understand instead of bawling.

Reporting it is not making it go away, so people are giving up on reporting. And that buck stops with you, because there are no rules against half of these things, and while the other half are in the doc, it doesn't specify how they're handled so they're handled based on whim and nothing ever gets done about them. These people stick around and cause more problems. You've visibly done nothing about several high profile things mentioned in this thread that have been reported.

People will also hesitate to tell you ingame, because as you've demonstrated, you're so vehemently opposed to such ideas that you'll breakdown for it, so they don't want to be known to you, because they want a drama free experience.
>>
>>179873595

It's most likely because the situations aren't actually happening and people are memeing and you're not in on the joke.

This is the most sad part of it.
The Lad got away with successfully crashing cases and driving Treesteno away and nobody accused him because they were either apathetic, didn't trust the mods or because we not even had a rule against harrasing people.
Instead of wondering why nobody bothered to call a mod, people simply thought "oh, nobody minds it so why do something about it".
People only calls a mod when someone is interrupting a trial and that's pretty much it because case disruption is as clear as it can get, nobody trusts the mod team for anything else that's how it has been in Lupa's time and even supposing our current admin were to calm down it won't change anytime either.
This is both a problem where the comunity doesn't want to rely in the mods because they think they never listens and won't do anything about the problem at hand and where the mods won't try to earn their trust either because they also think the comunity never listens and if they don't call a mod is because people was ok with whatever problem was happening.
>>
>>179876159
They never banned Lad, they never took care of Codyfag to my knowledge, they never did anything about anyone.
Unless you started spamming mid-case, there were NO rules.
>>
>>179876159
This is what I've been trying to say the entire thread. It's because of stuff like this that the community doesn't want to call mod for it because they don't believe the mods will handle it well. It's a two way street for trust. If you've never handled anything well, why should I even call you in the first place?
>>
>>179876421
>Ginamod bans underages and people that break rules constantly
>Mods bridge the gap between the community in the thread and discord

Anon, nobody in the comunity tried to call a mod on the Lad. Nobody in the comunity tried to call a mod on fclss. There is no denying people waits to things to get out of hand to do something and even then it's most likely they'll try to solve in their own first.
You can blame people for not calling a mod all you want but the fact is that not just nobody call them but things like what leaded to this happen instead, things blow up and everyone starts screeching at each others trying to find a culprit.
The mods are doing a good job, answering questions even if not in all of them in the best humor but there are more things that could be done and this is honestly the best oportunity for this to happen.

>>179874123
Addresing here because I don't know if you are waiting for (you)s but I'll say my main point one more time.
>So it's very hard to take the "people gave up on reporting" when they never did in the first place.
People gives up before trying. And if it were the minority, things wouldn't have to blow in the thread everytime before to be addressed like when we got someone more decent to run the updates and the witchhunting rule to be polled. Except of course fclss didn't have anything happen to him for causing all of this but I'm honestly happy if it makes him just stop being a fag and let the usual mockery happen without deliverately trying to make it be worse.

You said yourself, you weren't called, no mod was called, neither by acme neither by us. Supposing you don't aggree with the reason being a lack of trust on the mod team, then I really want to know why do you think people waits for the worst to happen to address it. And just in case you missed it, mods in the discord did want to help when they learned about the instigation and some people also expresed how the situation of what fclss was doing was annoying and not wanted even although nobody called a mod and didn't think of even talking about it until the thread drama started.

Iris Watson: But I urge people if you see something happening to others and you feel it requires a mod, call.

This is something Clovo said near the beginning of the Acme bullying. Before the trial, before the IP leak, when Iris was first on this server. He was idling in the basement either afk or with AO minimized, then when he looked over to see what was happening and learned what was going on, he issued a warning and requested people to step up.
But nobody did. The people who should have either weren't there, didn't care, or joined in. And similar incident happened later except the mod at the time was Namu, and rather than discouraging it he joined in.
The problem lies on both ends, users don't call mods--partially because they don't know what is something to call mod over--and mods are inconsistent with some going for mute/kick/ban, some going for warning, some pretending to care, and some joining in.
>>
>>179874123
>>179879582
>>179880109
Something I would also like to know is why the knowledge about this time bomb is so irregular within the mod team.
Namu and Turto should have know this would blow up at some point or that they themselves would, they should have informed the other mods about what was happening and how things were starting to get worse instead of learning about it by gossiping or the thread.

Basically this, all of the acme bully has pretty much skirted around the rules and they can always say their intention wasn't specifically to bully/harass them regardless of going out of their way to find them and bait them to act retarded with the intention of people calling them out for their retarded stories harder or simply get tired of the drama and blame acme instead of the instigators which is also not really against any rule since even witchhunting is vague and up the mods opinion which only really informed one is Namu (in this case).

this is fundamentally flawed on /vg/. You can't get a main trilogy lead da without rerolling, nor an AJ lead pro, etc.
>>
>>179945735
But it's not the last two, it's the third and second last. It should still show up.
As an example, I got an 880. I could have gotten a 110 as well.

I've already theorized that the same people who try to discredit the opinions of the thread are the case crashers, circle jerkers, and rule breakers in client.
