Read the General problems FAQ before asking questions. If you still need help, post your specs (Speccy screenshot), operating system, emulator version number and details of what's wrong.

Please contribute to the wiki if you discover any inaccuracies or have relevant information to append.

READ THE WIKI BEFORE ASKING QUESTIONS LIKE:
>Where do I get games
OR
>What is the best emulator for...

Check out the wiki for the emulator you're using if you run into trouble, there may be a solution there too, often including recommendations for optimal game settings.

Remember to submit bug reports or shit won't get fixed.

Does anyone know of a way to force DeSmuME to run at a capped, sub-60 framerate?

Games like EO and Pokemon use MIDIs for their soundtracks, and when it's slowed down and stretched out (i.e. running far from 60 frames), it's pretty chill, and I wanna record it.

>>176324894
the PSP version literally IS widescreen so i don't see how that solves anything

Nvm, found it. For anyone wondering: hit - and + on your keyboard (the ones on the number row, not on the numpad) to raise and lower the frame limit.

I have some issues with Fallout 2. (Yes it belongs here because the game is emulated so it can run on modern systems.)

It's the GoG version with Unofficial Patch installed, but I read in sfall's readme that you shouldn't overwrite the ddraw.dll with the unofficial patch's. So should I download sfall again and add that ddraw.dll?

Also the game runs sluggishly on Windows 10, fluctuating between 30 and 60 fps when I use a 60 fps frame limiter, even with X2 Scaling, and the menus are so sluggish that double clicking only sometimes works.

Is this just something to live with on Windows 10?

Getting a runtime error on Retroarch. Wiki says I need to use 5500 bios, but I'm trying to play a jpn game. Is this the issue, or am I retarded?
>>
>>176413089

Mednafen uses three specific bios for some reason.

Also make sure your cuesheets are right.

It's always bios or cuesheets.
>>
>>176413779
Well I guess I need a different core or emu then because I'm specifically wanting to play JPN games and the cue file is all set up fine. Thanks for confirming.

It can play japanese games. Use these bios:

Where you got that dump from? That's not redump naming convention.

Check in retroarch that the system path is set to wherever you have your bios files at.

In retroarch go to logging and set logging verbosity on, then close it and run it from the command line so you can see what error it spits out when it crashes.

I think it's motion blur and I'd need shaders rather than increased resolution, it's already above 1080p. And the fix is totally random. Works sometimes, usually doesn't.

The blur/fuzziness is due to deinterlacing. The ghosting looks like a broken depth of field effect though it can also be caused by misaligned bloom.

I haven't used PPSSPP in a while but I tried launching the version I have (some dev build of 1.3) and it just gives me a black screen and then after ~5s it gives me a "PPSSPP has stopped working" error and crashes. I tried out 1.4 and the latest 1.4 dev build to the same end. It shouldn't be hardware-related because I've got a 2500K and a 1060 so my best guess is that this could be related to the Windows 10 Creator's Update or a lack of something like some .Net files (though I think I've got all that shit). Any idea of what I should do? If it's related to Windows I'd have figured there would be a fix for that by now and I didn't see many results for this problem on Desktops in general.
