Some heroes are niched more heavily than others, but for the most part there aren't hard roles like League (jungle, top, offlane, etc). Some heroes should push lanes, but their kit allpws for flexibility if played well. Splitpusher Zagara is good, but you can totally teamfight with her too, some heroes are good at solo laning, but usually are designed as hero killers too, like Thrall and Alarak.

I'm torn between what hero to get next. Both Probius and Sgt. Hammer look fun but I could use a different healer besides Lucio because he keeps getting banned in unranked. Suggestions?

They were probably too scared about her damage output with her level 7 talent that increases her damage by 5% per hit, so they literally balanced her entire AA around that one talent. The biggest problem with that is she will do far less damage than before with her AA build because it takes so long to ramp up with needing to constantly be hitting a heroic target with AAs (that and she dies pretty much instantly to alarak, but then he is insane right now on the ptr).

Once people stop jacking off to the stun removal at 4, they will see she is still pretty weak, and if you can't constantly AA your healing is much lower. She takes a bit to get use to but her AA definitely need a baseline buff. The one nice thing is she can actually heal herself now that makes it a little easier to stay in the fight while constantly auto attacking. What she really needs is a slight range increase on her auto earlier than 20.
