Yeah a percent of their stats carry over to the next life. Getting the upgrades to that Tamer skill increases the percentage that transfers over when they're reborn. Also, when rebirth happens and you choose an egg you can see what benefits you get from the new egg such as high Strength, HP, MP and so on.
