It's over a week into May
Just give up on P5 already. It's not a good game. The story, characters and holidays are all grossly inferior and they thought that people cared enough about the gameplay to warrant real dungeons when that was the last thing Person ever needed. P5 won't be remembered as anything special and they'll go straight to P6 from here.
This is getting unhealthy. For now I still fear for you all but soon that concern will turn into hate. And unless you revert back to any of the vastly superior entries that hate will be strong as an ox.

Anyone else COMPLETELY hate everything about Akechi?

I fucking hate how there is like a 30 minute cutscene explaining how they knew Akechi was the "traitor" despite it being the most obvious thing in the game and anyone who was even slightly paying attention would have noticed it the second he noticed Mona talking. It felt like the game was treating me like an idiot.

Not only is he an obvious traitor but I hate how "generic badguy traitor" he is is the second you find out. Complete with "im a bad guy now" insane portrait.

Even his damn backstory and death was generic as fuck. Of fucking course Shido was his father, of fucking course he gets killed by Shido's cognition of him.

The only thing the game did in regards to him that even semi-surprise me was not go "lol he isn't ded" at the end like they did with Ryuji and Mona.

Akechi is a blemish on an otherwise fantastic game

You know who I would have liked as a traitor? Sojiro. He was ex-government, had connections to Shido and Wakaba, and knew about the cognitive world. I would have rather the moment of betrayal feel like a stab to the heart then a fucking groan. I could have SWORN the traitor wasn't going to be Akechi since it was TOO obvious and I wanted more then anything for it to not be him.

Also if it isn't obvious ENOUGH in the Persona 2, SMT IF..., Raidou, Catherine DLC outfits Akechi's outfit is the antagonist of those games.

Levity, some people like a lighter tone, and the ending of P4 is definitely happier. It also gets you more of an idea of the stakes by actually telling you the meaning and identity of the eventual gods involved 6 months before the finale.

In P4 you know who Izanagi and Izanami are when you meet them.
In P5 Yaldabaoth is just kinda like "Hey here I am, uncle Yaldabaoth, this'll be a treat. Here I am uncle Yaldabaoth, while you eat."

Oh god I remember this, this was easily one of the worst things about P4. The only reason you had to give a shit about Izanami was because of a class lecture they gave you earlier in the game. In P3 they gave you the run down on Nyx as part of the actual story and in P5 he's destroying everything before your eyes long before you get his actual name.

P4's story and characters are harder to like than P5's. Tragic backstories mixed with rebellious characters and a "dark" plot is better for mass market appeal.

To me, P4 is still a very unique game. I feel like anyone who thinks games like P4 or P4 have dramatically darker stories hasnt read a lot of fiction, and aren't numb to "oh my god, so dark" yet.

Going forward P4's going to be the niche game, and thats already. It IS already a weird game. Its the Diamond is Unbreakable followup to Stardust Crusaders, smaller stakes, slower more personal narrative, etc.

It also helps that P5 completely shits on the rest of the Persona series in the gameplay department.

I don't think he was meant to be foreshadowed only until near the end when everything becomes apparent. His railroaded appearance wasn't really that great either and I wished they dropped small details here and there in mementos that "something" is down there other than Morgana's memories which no one really ever cared about to begin and end with.

The entire game in your first playthrough makes you believe that everything is just by happenstance and Morgana drops that on you as soon at you get Makoto and he starts telling you how coincidental it is that all of your party members are connected to the villain at their current moment and you either say it is or you're just a lucky dude.
Only after you defeat Yaldy do you finally realize that he was literally controlling everything and all of your party members, villains and everything was set up before you even entered Leblanc.
I find that somewhat better considering that you don't know the stakes and it becomes a huge surprise that a god was controlling everything.
except thats really obvious for the veteran SMT/persona fans and it didn't come as much of a surprise when you left mementos unfinished and the game didn't cut to the magical resolution ending after you beat shido

There's absolutely no way you can look at not-Igor and think "well that's obviously the Demiurge. On the other hand a keen observer would note that Yu's initial Persona was Izanagi, and that suggests Izanami must be around somewhere. Then Edogawa's lecture develops the hint further.
