I had either left or right lane pushed up to their t2's for the entire game and they could do nothing with it except feed and try to surrender. Epic need to diverty resources away from their asset creation division (all things considered, a cape for Kallari and Sparrow isn't really necessary) and fix the fucking matchmaking already.

In the last couple of updates there was the Gadget Skin, the Kallari/ Sparrow Rogue skin and Raven Quill Revenant. Before that there were all of the colour variants and Banners (more cosmetics) and the improvements to the textures on Monolith. Meanwhile Dekker's stun is still somehow broken. I'm not saying that the work is comparable, but it's just frustrating that real changes to the game come so infrequently while cosmetic shit is churned out all the time to encourage microtransactions. I get that it's f2p and that's their only source of income, but they'd probably get more customers if the game wasn't in such a weird place for so long.

A standard full build takes 24 cards. A single deck allows you to have 40. How is that restricting?

The game allows you to check the enemy team comp with a single button press, and allows you to look at every deck you have for that character until you lock in one. This encourages you to build a variety of decks and pick the best one for the match. Items shops allow you to buy and buyback anything at any time, but this forces the developers to restrict build variety so people can't instantly swap their entire build without consequence.

I tried to defend all the Monolith changes and let him know that match times were down by almost 20 minutes average than before. I tried to offer him advice on how to counter Morigesh and Aurora, but in the end, all the enemy team has to do is go in 2-3 deep and they can kill you under tower even before the 10 minute mark and get away unharmed.

I don't know how to defend that pathetic towers. They aren't supposed to save your life guaranteed, but they should at least allow you to fight under your tower and kill at least one of your attackers.

Getting chased through your own tower and running away just gives them some free room between towers where they aren't even gonna take damage and can keep killing you.

Are you just supposed to run away as soon as you see anyone heading toward you so you have a head start and might make it back to your core while they free farm the lane and get stronger?

That's not actually something most people care about, and it baffles me that Epic kep touting shorter game times as a plus.
Anyway, no: there's no defending that crap. The map is too small, the meta is pure damage and the towers offer little additional protection if the enemy team decide they're just going to dive. Hoping that v40 changes some things, but I'm sure I remember hearing that Epic are happy with towers where they are. Also, I doubt they'll significantly increase the map size since Monolith is (apparently) only 30% smaller than Legacy, a map that would probably work better right now considering the changes to travel mode and movement speed. I wish I had a Reddit account to point that last part out on a forum to which the Epic devs might actually pay attention

I'm in plat and whenever I'm forced to jungle I take yin. The only other options are sevarog or rampage. If your adc is ass you are going to lose, so picking yin lets you have an adc replacement. If your carry is good, then you have 2 carries.

It's a good setup and it's pretty overpowered. I'll take a competent yin jungle over a khaimera anyday.

Khaimera has no escape, is only good early/mid game, and he needs to snowball ahead in cp in order to do good. If people are playing safe and not overextending without wards, he will not get fed and won't be overpowered. In silver this is easy to do but higher up it's not as simple. In combat he's way to reliant on his ultimate and thunder cleaver as well. If you use your pounce and get stunned by dekker upon landing, you aren't going to get to use that ult on twin who dashed or grim who displaced you.

It's much better to use sevarog, who has 2 distance closers, 3 escapes, and an insanely powerful passive late game. The only other jungle characters I trust are kwang, sometimes rampage, and yin.

There was a video floating around of a guy weighing the pros and cons of ability penetration vs pure crit on Revenant, and apparently crit is the way to go late game (the difference in damage for obliterate being 200 or so). The logic goes that, since he has max attack speed or so I hear, building him with 100% crit is not only viable, but kind of expected. With that said, what do you lads think of

I've never been sure how much lifesteal is necessary, no need to be a dick about it. If that's the case, all you ever need to build is Hunger Maul and be done with it. Or leave the greater drain in the ward (which already gives 2.5 lifesteal) and use a different crit bonus card. Since Blast Harness would be pointless, that leaves Blade of Agora for more damage, or Wraith Whisper for some ability Penetraion. Wraith whisper with the ward would give 10 ability pen: not much, but better than none at all.

Yeah, I think they were right to do away with Travel Mode, but the smaller map and higher base movement speed just makes things feel too hectic. On Legacy you could be sure that it would take the enemy team time to react and rotate, which let you play with at least a bit of strategy. Now anyone can be anywhere on the map in little over a minute if they're not interrupted (from base to jungle entrance by safelane is about 35 seconds, and that's the halfway point on the map).
They won't bring it back, though: doing that would be admitting they fucked up. As you said, it's dumb.

Long story short there is none, Sylphin tries to do some math in his videos and sometimes he gets some pretty interesting numbers but it isn't the best for every character. For example revenant could get away with a lower crit chance because of his fourth shot, serath could get away with less crit because of her ult, and yin could get away with full crit chance because of her cleave.

Too many people fail to take into account abilities and just rely on basic attack algebra, but overall it comes down to player skill and build order in most cases rather than optimal crit chance.

What's the best way to farm as a carry? I'll be in a game with an enemy Yin and they'll just keep leaping ahead of everyone. Raptors probably play a part, but I can't help but think stealing jungle is a part of it, too. Gold buff works for every source of cxp, right? Kills, raptors and jungle camps included?
Maybe I just need to be more aggressive early on and get some kills, but I don't want to be that fucker that feeds trying to make unrealistic shit happen.

I'm beginning to think that stealing the jungle is a good idea. Junglers always play farmer simulator 2017 and never gank. I had a match yesterday where Khaimera stayed in the jungle for 20m+ and didn't gank. He also did no damage to the enemy team for some reason. The enemy Grux ended up ganking non-stop though. If V.40 doesn't do something about the burst/lockon meta, I am leaving for a while. We need some burst heals that aren't useless like Quenching Scales is half the time. We have so much heal over time, but that doesn't matter AT ALL in a teamfight when you have Countess, Morigesh and other lockon bursts so easily landed.

Sure there are better ways, just take TrueSkill as an example, a system that was actually designed for multiplayer team games and works in such a way that one unlucky loss because of shit teammates in a while won't affect your ranking . TrueSkill is trademarked by Microsoft so i cannot be used, but I'm just mentioning is as an example that there ARE better systems. Elo is a suitable system for 1vs1 games. It can even be suitable for team games with premade teams (It is used for some football and basketball leagues) , since players in them should actually know how to cooperate with each other. It is not suitable for a team game where most of your teammates are completely random and they're skill is just as important as yours. An ideal player skill assessment system for mobas should focus more on player's performance during matches and less on whether they were won or lost. Although such a system would be obviously very hard to write and would have to take lots of factors into account.

Well, imagine that I do know how TrueSkill works and the main advantage it has over traditional elo is the fact that it(theoretically) takes into consideration how well the players faired in their recent matches instead of just looking at their plain elo value, I'm saying theoretically, because this "assumed skill rank" on which all this relies is based largely on probability rather than hard numbers. Now, I'm not saying that this system would be great for mobas, because it wouldn't, it probably would be just barely better while overcomplicating things needlessly, I've just brought it as an example that there are other systems than elo and the statement that "we don't have anything other" is false. I'm not claiming that I know a perfect system for moba player ranking, nor that I can design one, I've just stated that elo system is fundamentally not very suitable for this kind of games and that I'm surprised no one tried using or developing anything better yet.
