With a choke they have acceptable range, and I prefer them even to SMGs for the most part outside of super close range using the micro uzi and an extended mag.

This is an interesting point. There is an old article from CCP from like 10 years ago talking about the design philosophy of a 1 server MMO. The TLDR of it was, conventional design was too worried about the "experience" of conventional play spaces being disrupted by population issues, so they had to tightly control and design every area to maximum effect

But once CCP started viewing players themselves also as content, it took a lot of the strain off designing areas. You still have to, because you want to encourage certain player behaviors and not others, and they are very careful about not fucking up their economy - but they realized if you don't perfectly craft every possible thing, this is okay, because players can and will fill in the rest.

It seems like games like PUBG have almost done a complete 180 in that regard. Whereas conventional philosophy is to tightly control the player experience to the outcomes you want, it's sort of like PUBG gives no fucks and want the players to be the sole deciding factor in content. But they sort of don't realize the game still encourages player behavior. Who REALLY wants to take a shotgun into the end game when you know 99% of the time the circle ends up in an open field with the only cover as trees. That Kar98 and 4 or 8x looks a whole lot better, and is almost always relevant - whereas on the flip side if we had the circle close in on Pochinki 99% of the time you'd see a lot more people taking 12 guages into the end game... So how you design the game still has an impact.

My only complaint is not necessarily with how shit the game is designed, but if you don't give a fuck with how bad the design of certain buildings are, and are going to drop 50 of those buildings randomly over deformed terrain... Why not give us a bunch more maps? Maybe a map half the size of the current one but same style?

It's because of the hitreg and lag. It makes all the low ROF, high damage weapons unreliable, since every time you fire your gun you're gambling that the server will actually register the hit. That's why you can hit someone center of mass at point blank range three times with a choked pump and still not get a kill. All the blood spatters are client side, so even though you saw the shots connect, the hit may not register at all on the server, or the player may not even actually have been there to be hit.

This is a problem in close range where other person dies before the bullets reach the destination, then nullifying the damage for some reason.
It doesn't happen if you don't die yourself. Making snipers the most reliable guns in the game.

How do you fucking win at this game?

I was well ahead of cricle, trying to stay in the middle of it, so I don't get forced into a position where I can't get into the circle because people are going to edge guard when I get there.
See a guy far away, at least 400m. I can barely make him out with my 2x scope. Obvoiusly I can't win that fight, and it looks like he's soping on me, so I go to the other side of the rock.

Then I get shot by somebody whos probably camping by a tree, but I have no idea, because there were firing sounds from all directions.

I only played solo so far. I usually try to grab a car and make it to the center of the circle ASAP and hide somewhere, obviously, or - protip - grab an boat early and every so often get that sweet, sweet airdrop that ends up in the water and noone can get to it but me, since noone is autistic enough to actively seek out boats. Seriously, this happens more often then you'd think. This whole "stay the fuck away from everyone until the end" tactic gets me lots of rank points, but barely any combat practice and thus no chicken dinner. Being a pussy ain't much fun but I feel like doing anything else in solo is just not smart.

I'd love some silly fun mini-arena mode where you can just train combat without gaining any points, just for practice.

While more sensible I feel like that would pretty much limit where people drop otherwise you will be fucked. Why go to a city if you are just getting pistols? Sure you get a car a bit more easily but you will lose pretty much every firefight.

Before you change loot like that I think loot and weapons in general need a rebalance especially with how much they are distributed. Why the fuck would you use a pistol when you have 2 primary weapons anyways? There is no reason. Assault rifles are beyond plentiful, and generally I like to carry an UMP just for the silencer and plinking long range, so I'd never be heard.

Generally speaking ideally you have an AR and a sniper or SKS. The first is beyond easy, the 2nd is somewhat likely but also easy to go a match without one. I'd enjoy it if the period of time where people more have pistols and shotguns was longer. As it stands now you can get an AR and kit it out decently fast, at this point it's more trying to find high power scopes and sniper rifles then anything else. And medical too of course, always useful to have a lot.

Quick tip. Land next to someone and toss a few punches at them. Tempt them to a fist fight. If they run, keep punching. If they start punching, start running back and tempt them to chase you. After that look around and find a gun, once you do Sprint over and lay down. They will keep tossing punches at you, not realizing they can't hit you prone until it's too late. By then you have a gun and are reloading it, then turn to face them and gun them down.

It's surprisingly very effective, and I pull it off almost every match at this point.

No. At all the ranges shown in the video, travel time is negligible, you don't need to lead.
Make sure to steady your aim as well, so it doesn't rattle around so much; And if you want my opinion, don't use scopes at such a short range. Red dots provide a much clearer view of the target, with a much less intrusive reticle. Also, if you keep missing shots, take a second to re-center your aim instead of just spamming.

So how many people here actually go for the Care packages when they drop? I'v yet to loot one, and the one time I thought it was in the perfect spot with a gate on one side of it, and a building to the other that I had just come from, I ended up getting shot from what I assume was two different squads overwatching it from god knows where. I only ask cause it seems like I'll always see random fuckos just waltz right up to it from halfway across the map, loot it standing straight up, and proceed to walk away jolly as can be. same goes for streamers, they talk about getting the crates as if they were a definite thing with no danger.

Don't know how, but I left out the part where I used a UAV to block off a 3rd side of the crate, making it so that the only direction I could take fire from was the buildings behind me where I had just come from/looted. Chalk it up to being unlucky as another squad rolled up in my blindspot.
