Your best bet is to use your speed to your advantage. Keep them straight under you so they cant come up for air, or they will surface and die. Dont let them get into primary torp position. If they surface but not under you, you'll murder them with a single round of shots.

In 5v5s the teams are made with tryharding in mind, everyone packs goldsmoke and bringing a ship under the tier requirements (T6 for DD/sub, T7 for everything else) is almost suicide.
You only have to get a few wins to be on the leaderboard with a decent amount of points and you'll get paid out at the end of the season. Your points wont decay if you don't play but you if you lose a match, some of the points will be gone and the amount increases as you climb the ladder.

Fat, lots of armor and slow early on. has some nice ships and hands down the WORST BB (colorado). They generally have the fastest reload speeds and shell travel time with meh damage and pen. AA is a strong point but has a few exceptions, Wyoming is the go-to for novice fleet battles

Also fat but HP wise armor is decent and they all handle about the same, focus is on a big burst of damage in a single salvo with long ass reloads, aim and travel times. AA is a letdown up until the hotels.

Start slow with a focus on range and pen with decent reload times and damage, at T6 the line switches to slow boats to fast motherfuckers that still have the range and pen. Generally they have the lowest HP and armor is not that good, AA is above average for the most part.

The normal BBs hit pretty hard but not as hard as the japs in some cases, but they compensate it with humane reload times, AA varies from ship to ship, HP and armor are average and the speed is decent.
The BCs are pretty fast with good hitting guns, none of them have scout planes so keep that in mind, pretty strong AA.

Besides what >>176452213 said, a rec would involve your gameplay. I enjoy IJN BBs but other people prefer krauts for example. Same goes for CVs. The good thing about SO is that there's no OP nation, every nation and every line has ups and downs along the tiers and every nation has especific quirks for every line. Anyways, USN has the most "jack-of-all-trades" lines so I will always recommend those lines for new players.
