Can anyone explain how the fuck this game works?

I'm not talking about the literal mechanics, but the gameflow. It feels like I'm just playing a single player game, I make mobs bigger and bigger and use combos to stack high numbers.

As far as the difference in yours an opponents total strength is positive you 're mostly fine.
Then there is control cards, some big numbers are very susceptible to be put down by the right special cards.
Then you have card advantage, even if the current meta is "go for the first round", passing cleverly such that you can keep card advantage gives a huge boost (mostly because you'll be able to drop the last control/special).
To sum it up, play your strength cards as far as you know how to put the opponent's stength lower then yours with a single move

There may be more, but that's quite it.

Because they don't know how to utilize other leaders and think raw 11 atk is good, same with Craite.

An Craite wounding deck or consume monster is pretty good for a beginner with low scraps, google it.

I used this deck to get to level 10 on my alt account while saving up 1200+ scrap for meme ST deck.

Just get more points than the enemy. Nothing more. The game is basically Solitaire. People bitched about multiplayer Gwent and CDPR rushed the idea without really thinking if it can really work as standalone.

So what's his main use? I'm guessing it's to combo with something else, with the fact that the enemy gets the same card being irrelevant as they normally won't have the other combo pieces.

you use it for decks where the card effects only benefit you. like cards of the same name that buff each other or units with effects only you can trigger

Would you guys recommend picking a budget deck and milling everything else you get to craft it, or just using basic decks to build up cards?

Also what's this I hear about getting Ciri for free at level 18? Do you get any other cards like that?

Yes you should mill everything except the deck you use to craft good cards and win games. Or drop some bucks and buy kegs.

Gwent team is enough to make a smaller triple A title and yet they can't handle a Closed Beta. On China conference they said that with NG release we will get Open Beta and what? We still have only bare bones of the game. People are asking for new content and CDPR instead is making a 100k$ tournament for an unfinished game (maybe pour those money in the fucking game instead?) that still has ton of flaws and not even half of planned features. Not to mention they have no experience with making multiplayer titles. Witcher Mobile MOBA died as fast as it was released and the same will happen with Gwent.

HS took 6 years to develop for Team 5. CDPR are trying to make a standalone competitive game based on a minigame in a RPG that is based on a old board game in less than a year with only a bit bigger team. They are just trying to ride on hype without actually thinking about making the game. It's bound to fail if they won't wake up.

Except HS is flawed at its base while Gwent has more complex mechanics than HS 3 years after its release.

We are still in CB and there are already changes like the one with Cahir and Milva where cards need to have a description "If the opponent has not passed." because CDPR did not expect that mechanics in a singleplayer minigame where you face only AI poorly translate into a standalone title lul.

CA being so important and the fact that every Card needs to have a value makes it impossible to implement interesting and fun cards that require set-up or different approach (look at Boar of the Sea).

Those things will only grow with time, once the game release.

Also you can tell that the game is rushed because the artstyle is all over the place. We have modernistic main menu and UI. Realistic Card artworks and animation and weird comic-like style with Shop, Campaign and avatars. They are not even decided on how the game will look and feel.

Yeah, HS is better in that regard. Oh wait, no it's not. It has 20+ artists doing card art in 20+ different styles.

As opposed to nerfing 2-3 cards a year and completely killing certain decks and classes like based Team5?
I'd rather the game gettting constantly patched and the meta shifting back and forth, than what's happening in HS.

Had 4 cranch a crate warriors (?) On the board. Two were placed and two were from my leader ability, when I used warcry only two of them doubled in strength. Is this a bug or does it only work on the hero ability ones?

The one legendary you absolutely need is aglais. Fill out your golds with epics. I recommend Ciri, yen:con, and I guess ithlinne is alright for a budget deck. For silver you can throw in Braenn, toruviel, cleaver, d bomb, cyprian wiley. Just use whatever you have. Yaevinn should be included though.
