Bite Blaster is beyond godlike in 4U and will be your bread and butter HBG until mid to late G Rank. If it had more raw, it'd be a strong HBG even in endgame.
In Gen, I... don't actually remember what the best HBGs were. I think Mizutsune's HBG, Cirrus Blaster, is among the best to reach endgame with.

Note that Pellet S CAN be aimed, shoot above the monster's head to avoid tripping team mates.

Well okay. I'm not about to write a full page on all the reasons, but a few highlights include the shittiest of all time quest progression, including massive padding and redundancies of the types of quests. The game has a noticeably lower budget, and seemingly uses a smaller staff to quickly recycle 4th gen investments. You lose a lot from 4 including the story, the special N3DS enhancements, locked at an unstable 30 fps, cut scenes, the nice free hunt system etc.

Neutral: Some people like the anime shit, others don't. Many have praised the soundtrack, though not everyone likes its direction.

Positives: X and XX do take care to add several quality of life enhancements we should hope the series permanently retains, and overall you can see where certain teams working on the game really did put in an effort to make parts of it great.

The result is a game that feels rushed, and heavily utilizes a really fucking horrible ticket spam system to mark your progress. It makes the cameos feel more like an assault than the nostalgia trip seemingly intended. As do the fucking gathering quests which bizarrely they made sure not to leave any of the classics out.

It was all hit when it was current, same thing as 3rd gen. Playing it after all these years just isn't recommended since the games simply are obsolete.

In 4U this move at that position would hit you no matter what. If it charged and you were under it it would also miss you with the charge hitbox being at the front.

4th gen actually made plenty of old monsters worse and it's the most bizarre and ironic thing since 1st gen has by far the worst hitboxes and Garuga is from it.

They made the circle enclosing, including its tells and boxes better, and with all that came more fair tripping of the player. In 4U it was honestly like the corners of your 3DS screen were actually what was attacking you.
