Long time ago, a united human race called the Dominon came to this sector and began collapsing and terraforming the worlds when suddenly the gates that kept everyone connected over long distances went dark for no reason which splintered everyone trapped into several factions. There was a bunch of wars fought over the use of AI which eventually let to all the AIs to be abandoned in the outer reaches. Drover. Its subsystem essentially doubles the fighter wings you're able to deploy.

Condor = 5/bay
Gemini = 8/bay (4 if system doubles stuff)
Drover = 7.5/bay (3.75 if system doubles stuff)
Venture = 5/bay (if you mod the pointless drones out)
Heron = 4/bay
Mora = 4/bay
Astral = 2.5/bay
Odyssey = 20/bay
Legion = 3/bay

So Astral followed by Legion are the absolute best.
Drover is the cheap-but-nearly-as-good option.
Heron and Mora are decent.
And anything else that isn't an Odyssey will work okay.

The early game is too extreme in either direction right now.
Either you grind on pirate fleets you can beat until you get big enough to kill big pirate bounties or you cheese scan missions to make mad dosh and skip the early game.

I wish "industry" was actually a viable way to play. But damaged ships sell for almost nothing so there's no point in going out salvaging after big fleet battles to grab ships to bring back and sell to the black market.

Nah it's around, it's just a broad as fuck area, you literally need the neutrino scan to have a chance at locating the shits outside of dumb luck. If it says it's in the "heart of the system" you have a chance if you systematically use a grid search pattern with sensor bursts. If it's "in the outskirts" you have no practical chance without neutrino scan clues because the mission will time out before you scan half the potential area it could be in.

I run simulations but no matter the loadout, that thing cannot take down any other destroyers. It made a small dent in a Falcon but ran out of CR before it could do anything more.
If Diable ships need to outnumber the enemy, then we're fucked. Might as well just go pirate with a horde of (d) ships.

I played this way and it's all going nowhere fast. You earn about as much as you just spent in fuel and supplies to get the salvage in the first place. Maybe after an hour of playing you've got another 20,000 credits in your pocket, if that.

Nah, you must be doing something wrong if you not swimming in supplies. You get into fights less often which costs you less supplies and you should always be surveying at 5 supplies first if possible due to your (D) survey ships. Remember the battle size slider in the options? That's the fleet point limit of battles. Say like 500. Not until you have multiple salvaging ships with which the payout for battles in supplies not only covers the cost of deployment but the cost of the trip as well. At that point the only thing you'll be paying is for fuel and with the increasing bounties you'll be raking in the dosh.

Even then it's no match for surveying (or "farming" AIs from encounters with remnants in beacon-ed systems) as far as money goes.

The way the game is right now, best thing you can do at the start is survey what planets you can in the inner systems for the dough and fight the occasional pirate/bounty for the exp.

As far as I can tell in the old versions you could burn the CR of a bigger fleet down by forcing them to eburn after you and maybe run into the sun a couple times. I tried that with the XIV pirate battlegroup that I found and they all had 100% CR after running circles around them. Even with hostilities I've never actually seen invasions or anything. In a normal sized system I've wandered all over and never found two major forces clashing even though everyone is hostile towards four or five factions.

the hegemony is the main producer of organics in the whole systems. the sindrian dictate has the most industry of them all (producing heavy machinery by the thousands), the try tachs hold all the tech, etc. if you check the planet s¿list you will see who produces what

realistically, they need peace to trade so most of these planets don't collapse.

however gameplay wise, by cycle 10 every faction will be at war with each other sans independents and the eternal persean-sindrian alliance

the AI war doens't have much lore, but it was a massive coalition war after tri tach's AI system went rogue / full retard.

Yo, I need a new naming scheme after I found out some other old mod has taken my Greek Panetheon names. Something geeky and pacifistic. Ones on the left in blue are the fighter and bomber.

Lorewise, they are a single huge fleet with a Worldship as its flagship. They stay out of the core systems unless a station/market has gone for too long under siege/no food where they will charge in and stay there until the crisis is over. Otherwise, you will see small parties of them hanging out next to black holes, neutron stars and other phenomena chilling out.

You still have to swing your sword in a full animation. You can't swing it like you are saying you can. You can only constantly fient and pretend to hit, once you fully extend your sword it's an easily predicted animation.

Safety Overrides belongs on everything that can use it. The exception being carriers and frigates. Frigates shouldn't even be used outside the earlygame unless you luck into some of Tri-Jews' bullshit double medium energy frigates, which you can slap graviton beams onto and have escort your anti-Capital ships.

Don't fall for the Safety Override Frigate meme at any point. AI Frigates still suck at killing enemy frigates even when they have 100 more speed and 3 times the Flux Dissipation, and their already bad peak time will become downright horrible with Overrides. Overrides Sunder or Hammerhead is a better Frigate killer than the same supply in frigates because the AI turns significantly more aggressive against smaller ships, and most frigates aren't actually equipped to escape a Overrides Destroyer.
