I play this game to build defense teams that ruins as many arena runs as possible. Right now the best I have is WoM Hector/Azura, Vantage Ike and Bunny Lucina for mage. That being said I have some questions:

1. Does arena matchmaking take into account the skills you've equipped? I have tried trimming out as many unecessary skills as possible but since my defenses comes sporatically in bursts I can't tell if its working or if I'm just gimping myself.

2. how good is the AI at using active skills? For example is it worth keeping Rally speed on bunny lucina? and also what active would be good on Ike?

3. how much does initial positioning matter? is my layout good or is it just going to be RNG anyways with the map that gets played.

The AI is generally terrible at juggling active skills, except in niche conditions like Drag Back Blade/Buffers. I ran into a similar composition as yours, and when there was a red sword in range of both Spring Lucina and Hector, Lucina opted to rally speed hector and have him smash his dumb face right off.

Initial positioning really depends on the map rotation. For example, if you ran that when bridge maps are up, Azura in the second slot will just suicide rush right off instead of being tucked safely away in the 1st/3rd position.

There are only 2 teams I can honestly say I had absolutely no options against and was destined to lose from turn one: one was 3 fully built Hectors with +attk IVs and a DC Effie.
