I have a confession to make.
I like Arianna and what they did with her skills to make a connection between story and gameplay.

Fafnir is all about big burst damage and Attack Order helps him burst more.
And Link Order recreates a pretty big portion of the skill that activated it.

So Arianna helps Fafnir be at his best and in return uses his strength as his own. Just like knight and princess.

If only you could say something to make her feel less guilty about involving Fafnir (so she cries less).

EOV seems better since the classes are more variable.
There are a lot of classes that could pick up support duties as well as less squishy frontliners (Ronin and Dark Hunter wereas even Masurao can take a hit as Single Blade thanks to heavy armor).

Also since there are ten classes you can go ahead and make three of every class when in EO2U you don't get such an even distribution wiht 14 classes excluding Fafnir for 25 or 30 slots.

I don't know about you but in regards to Ninja, tagen battou deals ridiculous amounts of damage. WM just cheese through and easier to setup because you already have a 5 man party at the get go.

Taggen Batou with 5 clones deals massive damage - and it's Ninja/Galdiator with Berserker Vow, Charge and Charge Tactic to make it even more extreme.

The real kicker though is evading nearly every hit and gaining TP while doing so, outright negating physical damage and simultaniously dealing damage and healing whenever a clone dies.
Even if you don't one-shot the enemies most bosses should fall to that set-up pretty easily.

Buccaneer starts off weak but gets extremely strong once they unlock Pincushion - don't rush for it though since it's damage formula actually uses AGI as a multiplier.
Getting to it after maxing another skill (Hanging or Rapid Fire depending on your weapon) and Trickster is quick enough.

Zodiac is extremely strong early game but falls of later. They need Meteor and physical buffs (after the second stratum you will know how to get those) to stay relevant.
Although Ether Charge into elemetnal damage Limit skills are fun for the whole family throughout the game.

So since Buccaneer and Zodiac balance each others weaknesses out you will have a pretty consistent party throughout.
(All your other classes are strong the entire game.)

Hoplites and their battle gowns are my unrivaled favorite.
I was really disappointed with Fortress and how meager they look (especially since they are our first actual tanks).
Dragoons are thankfully pretty awesome again.

I prefer the blonde twintails one because I like her skin tone and the way girly twintails and heavy armor are opposites united in a single design.

Why do physical classes always have so extremely low TP pools?
I can understand them being a bit lower than classes that basically have no normal attack but getting drained after a few skills really is not fun.

The hardest path of any of the 7th Dragon games is the opening section when you barely have any thing to use. Although in VFD's case its probably the battle against Hypnos depending how shit your luck is with ailment procs.

Don't max your skills right away. Cap them off at skill level/2 - 1 and then raise it when you start having more of a TP pool around the 3/4th stratum. Then when you get to post game then you're free to max out everything.

Even then most of the involvement in EO is not the annoyingly obscure part of finding out which tools are of great use but how to use them.
That's the true reason I hate stuff like Sanzu - it is too effective so you have to use nothing else.

But it's also what I love Hall of Darkness for.
It doesn't matter if you have the strongest cookie cutter or just generally strong party - if you don't use your skills the right way even random encounters can fuck you over.

The games are easy when you know what you need to do?
Well, yes - EO is completely turn based (both combat and out of combat movement) so there is nothing mechanically challenging.

The challenge is to figure out how to make the party you chose work together, how to get to your endgame builds in an efficient manner (taking passives at the beginning is usually bad even if they are in your final build) and how to use the stuff you currently have to overcome the encounters the game presents you with.

EO is a game about making decisions over and over again.
So saying it's easy when you know how to decide is like saying a puzzle is easy once you know the solution.

You are technically correct but it is not a very useful statement.

PQ is superior to EO gameplay-wise in pretty much every-way and there is nothing you can do about it.

1. Actual class specialization. PQ has none because you can slap the same skills on every class via subs + cards. (Of course 2U fans should consider this a feature.)
2. Proper level scaling. You get the most powerful skill card (Myriad Arrows) at level 70 and there's no reason to level any higher. You actually get penalized for doing so because characters get a damage penalty if they outlevel their sub (which almost always happens.)
3. Ailment balance. It's unreasonably stacked in the player's favor to the point you can instakill every non-boss and then poison/panic bosses to overpower them.

Personally I would not put 2 that high because of how unbalanced (Landknecht and Survivalist vs. Hexer and Ronin) and technically dodgy it is (lag like hell during certain quests because the condition has to be checked each step).

Also I don't think the Persona/SMT style of ability aquisition matches well with rows.
Maybe I overlooked it but I found no Line Guard or other defensive tools during the first Stratum and the damage was pretty brutal.
Mixed with the small SP pools outside of battle you had to return back home more often than I liked (and the hospital is expensive).

I think Simon belongs in the back row with a staff in hand (even if his portrait has a sword).
His staff skills need 10 points in either ATK Up or HP Up which both really don't do much for him - and then they aren't all that great.

His VIT is also not that high so he would take a lot of damage.

If he does not need to heal he can try to inflict ailments. Since in EOU TEC is the more important stat for landing those he is quite accurate. An his poison ticks not too bad, especially when boosted.

Unfortunately TEC is a major influence in most of those.

TEC has always been a bloated stat but it really is extreme in EOU.
A lot of ultimate equipment in that game has TEC on it including stuff for Dark Hunter, Gunner and Ronin.

Alchemist is actually worse than Land in 2. Land can do okay damage with a chaser build providing that you get that Axe from Hellion/Flame Demon early on before the others catch up. Alch is hard capped at Stratum 4 tier damage.
